I have recently taken over caring for my brother who suffered a severe brain injury, and all I can say is that it was nightmare. They send out people on a temporary basis which is not good in my situation. I told them to stop sending temps to my home because my brother does not do good with change and with soooo many people coming in. They said they were going to hire someone specifically for my brother, it took about 8 weeks for them to send someone out meanwhile, I am exhausted! They send the woman out and the first day I thought she's great! Over a couple of days she's falling asleep and absolutely, could not wait to put him to bed, she determined he was tired, that's my families job, not hers. I could go on and on. Finally, I was told they would no longer help me. I absolutely could not believe it, I am continuing to struggle finding help. I would not recommend this company.

I have a…read moreelderly disabled parent which I requested a straightforward Transportation quote from home to doctors office (33 miles) and return, nothing more very simple request. It took 5 days of back and fourth emails to finally receive a quote and having to hear complaining through email about how difficult of a request it is for them to find a service provider (outsourcing) willing to travel as 33 miles as its to far. I was told there are many unknown challenges with providing a quote for transportation such as traffic, accidents or road construction examples that could effect the transportation price. All problems which have no concern to the customer. From the way it sounds they maybe trying to take advantage of elderly customers who do not know any better by leaving an open door to add extra charges as they feel necessary.

    We were looking for a taxi service to pick us up at our home about 6:30a and take us to the…read moreairport. There were only 2 ads in the Yellow Pages for taxis, so I choose The Red Rose as they said that they were locally owned and I try to give local businesses my business. I called the morning of the day before we needed the taxi, the lady whom I was talking to on the phone thought that this was a late reservation request. She sounded hesitant to make any commitment for a taxi. She took the time-date-address information and said that she would call me back. Three hours later she had not called, so I made arrangements with the other taxi company listed in the Yellow Pages. A couple of hours later, she did call back with a taxi for us. My wife, who took the call, said the lady sounded surprised that I had made other arrangements. Since we were looking at a long day of domestic and international air travel, taking care of the taxi service to start the travel off on a positive note, was important to us. Waiting for 5-6 hours to confirm a taxi pickup was not a stress reducer, but an enhancer. The ad in the Yellow Pages makes no mention that taxi service is only one of many services that The Red Rose offers. Hopefully their other services are done in a more timely manner than taxis!

    Our uncle was cared for at his home by Arista for over a year. His nearest relatives--two of…read moreus--are on the East coast. It was his choice to live in the state he loved (AZ), and as he aged, we very consciously spent more and more time with him, alternating visits traveling there multiple times every year for long visits. We were also in daily contact with him by phone and email, and his very close friends--who also became ours--called us immediately if they were concerned about him. I have a master's degree in nursing and attended many visits with him with his doctors. All of that is to say that, despite living far away, we had a close relationship with him, his tight-knit group of local friends, and stayed very knowledgeable about him and his needs over decades, not just months. The hospice he used before Arista treated us as team members with easy communication back and forth, always including him. He changed to Arista to follow a beloved care provider, a move we supported. But at Arista, there was a palpably hostile attitude in administration toward coordinating and communicating with us and that intermittently flowed downstream to care providers. We held both his POA and MPOA and had witnessed in person, at his invitation, his advanced care directives and related documents--evidence of his ongoing trust. Nevertheless, we were clear from Arista our involvement was neither wanted nor needed re: his physical, emotional, spiritual or social care, a notably different approach than with the hospice before Arista or the hospice that followed Arista. Both of those recognized the strong relationship and welcomed us by phone and in person as his family and resources who could help bridge information on his life and health history. It may be a different experience for those who live in the same area as the hospice patient, but if you live far away, I would not recommend Arista. For whatever reason, they were clearly not interested in family involvement. When relatives age, family bonds can suffer if not fostered. For whatever reason, Arista clearly didn't see that as a goal. We were with him in his last days, surrouded by the incredible support of a different hospice, and it was clear to us he was relieved as well, as he'd already quietly told us that--while he enjoyed Arista staff and knew they were dedicated--the care was "not the best."
