I signed up for Yelp just so I could express my gratitude to BrightStar for the incredible care and support they've provided to my mother and our entire family. It's not a stretch to say that my mother was "difficult" but when she began to get forgetful and my brother and I knew she needed some help we knew that it was not going to go over well - I was referred to BrightStar by a friend who had used their services for both his parents (hi Paul!) and he specifically said to ask that their nursing director and the owner, Suzanne, come for when we were going to have the initial conversation with my mom. All I can say is THANK YOU PAUL as the BrightStar team handled so much and put everyone at ease. I thought it was going to be a nightmare but it couldn't have gone better. We started off 3 days a week at the suggestion of the nursing director, who basically oversaw the entire process and she came along when my mom met Diane, who was taking care of her. Diane was amazing - helping with the housework and cooking as well as taking my mom to her social stuff. The nursing director, laine, came regularly to check in and, being in Chicago this took so much stress away to know that there was a medical team in place lookng after her. Things eventually progressed and my mom needed more help. Suzanne took care of this within a day (i dont think "no" is in her vocabulary lol). The entire caregiving team is also trainined on alzheimer's an had worked with so many people who had it, which was amazing because they could help me prepare and also gave me peace of mind. The BrightStar family has become part of my family. They are the best! I couldn't have asked for more from the caregiving angle but also the support that they gave me and my brother as we went through everything. I saw the bad review and I had to write about my experience with BrightStar and the owner Suzanne because everyone deserves to know how amazing these people are. My aunt began showing signs that she needed help as as the only other family member on the east coast I was asked to research who to bring in to help. The first thing that attracted me to BrightStar was that they had nurses as well as companions and the have a nursing manager who oversees everything (I'm not a doctor so all the medical help was appreciated). The owner, Suzanne, went through the entire process and the nursing manager came in to make sure everything was taken care of even though my aunt didn't need a nurse... it was really nice and reassuring that they did this. When the aide came the first time Suzanne was there to introduce everyone and make sure my aunt was comfortable. It's now been five months and my aunt is so happy! Lateah (her aide) is wonderful and I'm so happy I found BrightStar. Make sure to call Suzanne before you choose a company for care... she (and BrightStar) have been an absolute joy to work with. read more

The bright star care team has been with my father for for over a year now and they have exceeded all of my expectations. I'm writing this now because today is the first time that I have been able to take him out for lunch since he was first admitted to the hospital and I wanted to thank Suzanne and the team for caring for him so well! I could not have imagined that this day would come but we are back together as a family and it's all a bit overwhelming. Their director of nursing, laine, has planned his care so well and the team has kept me included with all of the challenges and victories throughout. My aunt is all alone so I try to look after her as best I can. But given that's shes in NJ and I'm not, I had to find someone to make sure everything was taken care of. I was referred to BrightStar by several people and I am SO glad I found them. They have a Director of Nursing, which put my mind at ease with regard to the medical side of things and they know exactly when her aid arrives so I don't have to concern myself with "is the aid there yet". Also, they have always taken the time to answer any of my questions and I never feel rushed. I had to go through other companies with my grandparents and I can say that Brightstar is by far the best! They also do free assesments so you actually get to meet the team that will be caring for your family, which I think is very good. read more

Outstand care for my dear, sweet mother who suffered a stroke that left her unable to speak, walk and without use of one side. She spent the last 14 months of her life in a wheelchair. We are forever grateful for the tender, loving care her 3 caregivers gave her as they rotated through the week, treating her with respect, always trying to engage her. I trusted them completely. The office staff was always there when we needed them; nurses, office manager, even the owner were kind and loving. The last week of my moms life was spent in St. Joe's hospital and one of the aides, who is forever an angel to us, was right there with us, even though she wasn't getting paid. Hello, My family and I have been working with BrightStar for some time now and I am incredibly grateful for the care that they have provided...Their aides are compassionate and hard working, they are sensitive to my mother's needs and emotionally and physically available. I am so grateful that Ryan OGNEK has come into our lives. She has been taking care of my Down daughter Melissa for the last month and nothing has been the same since. BrightStar was there for my father in-law following a recent fall. Their aides are wonderful. They speak English clearly and made his recovery at home so much easier. Their nurse met my father in law when he arrived at home and services started immediately. Their scheduler was also very helpful in explaining everything and making sure we had our favorite aides. Thank you so much for your immediate help. We needed help with a fall that was unexpected and BrightStar got someone to us in one day and had people available 7 days a week for us. I had Brightstar take care of my grandmother. They were AMAZING! The nurse made us confident with her course of care and her aide was exceptional.
