Traveling as a vegan isn't always fun. Sometimes, I feel like we miss out on part of the experience because we can't eat what the locals eat. Food is such a big part of experiencing the culture, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel sad sometimes that we have to miss out on things. So, when an establishment like B-Bakery offers an authentic experience like a traditional British cream tea, I'm so, so grateful. This absolutely darling tea shop has it all- fantastic service, unbelievably delicious pastries, and a full-on vegan menu. Our incredible tower included everything from savory finger sandwiches and wraps all the way through perfect mini cupcakes and puddings. Our server greeted us with fresh juice before helping us choose a tea to enjoy. Everything about the experience was remarkable, however, towards the very end was my favorite part... The sandwiches and cake and small bites looked incredibly petite, so as we worked our way up the tower I was not expecting to be so incredibly full! After we licked the decadent frosting of the vanilla cupcake from our fingertips we basked in the afterglow, belly's fully out and completely blissed from our experience... and that's when it happened. Our perfect server came by and asked if we'd like a break before our scones. Say what?! I remember looking at him in shock... THERE'S MORE?! We were full to the brim, and yet, there was more?! He laughed and whisked away our now empty tower, giving us space to contemplate the meaning of life before serving the grand finale. I thought I had scones before, but I will never look at a scone the same way after indulging in B-Bakery's vegan scone. After staring at it for a moment, willing myself to get going, I picked it up and pulled it apart. Steam rose in willowy threads from the center of this fluffy but dense pastry. The vegan spread and jam served alongside it waited at the ready, about to be slathered and melted into it's piping hot center. This scone was proof that there is a good, and he wants us to be happy. Though we were absolutely stuffed, we somehow found room in our tummy's for every last crumb of it. I'm so grateful to establishments like B-Bakery, who make room on their menu's and in their restaurants for vegans to enjoy the same things everyone else gets to. Thank you B-Bakery. I'll take my memory of my first real British cream tea with me to my grave. read more

They graciously were able to find me a space in between reservations for a quick afternoon tea. I had an Earl Grey blend for a tea and a fluffy, fresh scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. It was lovely. I was seated in the ground section which had no windows and one of the other customers were coughing up a storm, but it did not detract from now tasty everything was and how I would be happy to return. read more

Came here for afternoon tea. Because of our schedule, we went early at 11am. This was perfect since it was not busy. Close to covent gardens. The bakery was bright with lots of sunlight. I found that for the price, this had the best balance of ambience and food. The sandwiches were delicious, smoked salmon and the chicken sandwich were my favourite. You can choose coffee too if you don't want tea with your afternoon tea, this was perfect for my husband who came with me since he doesn't drink tea. The staff was friendly and you are able to refresh your drink as often as you want. My husband had two lattes freshly made when he ordered them. The scones, clotted cream and jam were served at the end. The staff also does not rush you (but when you reserve they give you a two hour max time) before serving the scones they asked if we were ready for it, or if we wanted some time before they brought it out. We had tea on the bus late last November. We reserved our table ahead of time and ordered champagne. Tea was beautiful and delicious. The two ladies serving the bus were very nice and tried to point out some locations. The driver also made announcements about landmarks, etc. But it was hard to see through the condensation and the champagne was flat. They made it very festive and it was still a tour through London. There was plenty of food served, enough for takeaway boxes afterwards. And the tea cup tumbler is a souvenir for you to keep. read more

I'm all for making a bit of an effort, and i don't mind paying top whack for something good, because I am a strong believer in 'you get what you pay for'... which is why I was so disappointed with BB's. I was out grabbing some food with some friends whilst Mrs D stayed at home marking school work. She tasked me with picking up a cake to make the marking more bearable. We walked around Covent Garden for a while trying to find somewhere really special and stumbled across BB's towards the end of the afternoon. It looked amazing! Proper posh, elegant-looking cakes, and it was rammed full of tourists having elaborate afternoon teas. The cake I ordered was a fancy Victoria sponge, but when I got it home, Mrs D was very underwhelmed with my choice. When I told her the little slice of cake cost £4.25, she just said "it's not worth half that". It's all well and good looking all Dainty and impressive, but cakes should be decadent mouthfuls of escapism, a treat that makes you go "MMMMMMMMMMMMM" with glazed-over eyes, and this cake just wasn't that. So yeah, it seems to be all style and no taste! There are plenty of other places to buy tasty cake, I won't be coming back again. read more

So this is a bit of an awkward one, but I didn't actually eat at BB Bakery. Or go to BB Bakery. Instead, I booked an afternoon tea bus tour, which is run by BB Bakery (so, all the food and staff were employed by them). First, the food. Wonderful. Absolutely delightful - especially the sweets! I did it with my mom and my partner's mom, and we all loved it. The lemon meringue and vanilla custard fruit tarts were my favourites, but all the sweets (and trust me, there were a lot of them) were delicious. The savoury treats - mini sandwiches and quiches - were also very yummy. Actually, the mushroom quiche was delicious. The staff were great - it's a bit tricky serving tea on a moving bus, but they managed to do it with aplomb. They were all very friendly and cracked jokes with everyone. So, the actual bus tour. It's not a tour in the way you'd think - no one is announcing the sights or anything like that. But there is a little guidebook at every table of the refurbished London Routemaster bus so you can follow along. I wouldn't recommend it for a first time visitor who wants to know what everything is; the tour/driving around aspect is not really part of the experience other than the novelty factor. Definitely worth booking (especially on the top of the bus!) if you're into novelty-type afternoon teas, and like sightseeing without necessarily paying full attention. I loved it, but I also wasn't looking for any in-depth tours of the city! read more

Oh me oh my, the cupcakes are just divine! I saw this place on a weekend walk and looking through the classy window displays I saw tray of cupcakes and knew I would be back with my co-worker. The interior of the place is very minimalistic, but warm. The glass case up front held an abundance of gorgeous looking desserts, but it was a mission for cupcakes that brought me here. We selected the toffee, lemon, and raspberry cupcakes. All of the cakes were moist and the raspberry and lemon cakes had actual raspberries and cream in them. The toffee frosting was nice, it had a hint of coffee. The raspberry frosting again was nice, but I could have done with a little more raspberry flavour and a little less sugar. My numero uno favourite one was the lemon. The frosting had a great balance of tang and sweetness and I probably could have eaten another one.... except that I will be bouncing around the walls in 10 mins from all the sugar! If I am ever in Covent Garden and feel like tea and a pastry, I will be here in a heartbeat. read more

We were in the area wanting to sit down with a cake and a cup of tea, BB Bakery delivered on exactly that. We ordered a mille-feuille, a lemon meringue tart and the royal (super chocolaty cake) and whilst all three were good, the lemon meringue was a above the rest. The decor is very girly and quaint, loved it. The upstairs has more tables but downstairs has lovely nooks and crannies. Perfect for a catch up with girlfriends! read more

We brought out toddler and would've much rather have preferred the open tables that were upstairs and avail though the staff said no. I wouldn't go back- it's London. For as many times that I visited London, I never had a proper afternoon tea. On my most recent visit at the end of June, I visited BB Bakery with family and we all really enjoyed the teas and the tasty sandwiches and desserts. I made a reservation weeks in advanced and we got one of the best tables in the house by the front window. I already look forward to my next visit. read more

I brought my Mum here for her birthday last month for afternoon tea - my Dad swept her away to Paris for her actual birthday so this was our little celebration! I'd always walked past with dropped jaw at how amazing the cakes in their window display looked so I was pretty excited to actually come here! I loved the atmosphere and decor; all so cute and quirky! The waitress was really nice and gave us enough time to choose our tea and then served our savouries and cakes pretty quickly!! I never think that the food is going to be enough and it always surprises me how full I get! The savouries were nice, just the usual selection of sandwiches. I did find though that it all got a bit sickly sweet by the end and that I just couldn't eat anymore of the cakes! I'd definitely come back here at some point. read more

My daughter discovered BB Bakery's Afternoon Tea Tour (on a vintage double decker Routemaster bus); it sounded like great fun. I planned it right after a 3 1/2 hour walking tour and planned to grab a small lunch or snack afterwards, if the fare wasn't such that it could count as lunch. The fare was colorful, well presented, tasty and satisfying. There was no need of any meal supplementing. This was a delightful experience as far as food and service. The 'tour' part would have been better, had there been a good deal more commentary. What commentary there was, was delightful; just needed more of it. One can purchase a tour book; I did this and it was delightfully written. However, if you are reading you can't watch the scenery/sights. read more

My absolute number one for Afternoon Tea. Any time I have friends or family wanting to partake in this past time I automatically book here. The place itself oozes a girly chic from the seating to the wall art. It has an casual elegance which gives you a feeling of fanciness but without the prentenousness. The food selection is great and so much of it that you will end up taking some home. My only gripe with the place is that they serve the scones after the cakes but I know it's because they bring out the scones warm. Plus it's one of those 'cream then jam or jam then cream' debates. I am for the former. For a girl afternoon (and I do see guys in there as well) I couldn't reccomend this place any more. Delicious food for a great price, for a wonderful expericence. You definitely need to book way in advance if planning on going on a weekend. read more

Pros: Very girlie atmosphere so great to catch up with friends, amazing chinas and very good quality food (We didn't have the afternoon tea. We had their lunch and ordered cake from over the counter). Cons: The worst customer services, ever. They got our bill wrong 3x and started clearing our table 30 mins before we had to leave because they want to prep for their next group (although the bakery was 1/2 empty). They weren't listening to what we were saying when we said we are still waiting for 1 person to arrive and forced us to order our food cos it takes time to prep. I'm unsure whether I'll return because of the attitudes of ALL of their staff, not just only one. I'd understand if the bakery was filled with customers and they are under staff, but they are not. read more

Visited this place for Birthday afternoon tea and was left totally impressed! Good service but the main attraction is the food. Everything freshly baked in-house (you can definately tell the difference) with generous servings of sandwiches and cakes. Unlimited tea included in quirky floral tea pots which look great and some fun. I will definately visit this place again and have already recommended to friends who have visited and loved it too! I am a huge fan of afternoon tea - and this place gets a 5 stars from me. It was just so delicious and the selection of cakes was broad - although a word of warning here, they are not fat free!!!! The venue has a really nice feel - its cute and welcoming, but not very big, so book in advance. I am taking my parents on the BB Bakery bus next week (afternoon tea on a bus! I can't wait!). The staff were so helpful - I left my purse in the office and they said I could come back and pay at a later date or over the phone - and they didn't make a fuss. i recently visited this restaurant on my first trip to london and was not impressed. we went in without a reservation so we weren't even sure we would be seated, however, the man behind the counter quickly said something about going downstairs and handed us menus. we went down but weren't really sure what for (to wait for a table or actually be served or what). the "downstairs dinning room" is essentially a basement with a few tables. it was totally empty and all of the lights were turned off (super weird). after a couple minutes a server came down and informed us that we were being served down there and we decided we would just leave. about a minute later she came back and asked us if we wanted to sit upstairs instead and we said yes (as if we hadn't just told her why we wanted to leave? again, it was just super weird). once upstairs again it was just awkward. the food was decent (we ordered a double order of the traditional afternoon tea), the tea was good, and the service was pretty slow and confusing. it just wasn't worth the price and the hassle. read more

I had been wanting to go to BBs since they opened. My sister was is town, so we decided to go there for a coffee and cake each. We walked in, and there were a few people queueing for take aways, but no other staff in site so we walked down the stairs where we were stopped by a waitress and asked us what we were doing. My sister asked for a table for two and the waitress gave her a filthy look and told her 'No. You need to wait upstairs to be served.' - while waving her finger in the air. It wasn't so much what she said as her rude attitude and they way she spoke to us. Needless to say we walked out. The tea room has a lovely feel to it with comfy velour covered chairs and mis-matched china teapots and cups. The window displays themselves are a marvel to look at and in gorgeous, girly shades of pastel. The cakes are all beautiful to look at but sadly the chocolate orange one that I had was a huge disappointment. The sponge was dry and the orange flavour of the icing overpowering and dare I say it too sweet. My friends and I had the pleasure of having afternoon tea on Brigit's Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus. We were fortunate enough to make early reservations, and reserved the two tables at the front of the double-decker bus on the top deck. We preordered champagne for the tour - make sure to preorder if you want champagne, because they don't stock any on the bus for last minute orders! The tea sandwiches and desserts were divine. My favorite was the lemon tart, and my husband enjoyed the dark chocolate cupcake. This tour was the perfect start to our journey in London and gave us a great overview of the city. I would come back to meet a friend here though, as I think the location and ambience are spot on. On entrance the welcome from the lady was a bit abrupt and said we can't eat in as closing in an hour so can only have takeaway but once we explained we only wanted cake and tea she then said ok we can eat in. She was very nice in the end, very chatty. The cupcake that i had was a toffee one which was very toffee tasting indeed and I also had the days special passion fruit mousse on coconut base which was delicious and sweet. I also had English breakfast tea along with my cakes and it was lovely. I really like having tea from proper bone china teapot and cup makes it so much better and more dainty. the decor of the cake shop is also very quaint and spacious. I love the cartoon pictures used on walls and some crockery. Also BB Bakery you can have afternoon tea and you can have it on there special bus tour and on a boat along the Thames (limited period). They also have a lunch type box that you can buy from the shop as a picnic type afternoon tea. At present the theme of the shop us based on the seaside but the theme changes every so often. I recommend BB bakery to anyone that loves cake and drinking from a proper bone china cup. read more

Great way to experience London in a short time! This was super helpful on my trip because we had actually missed a few landmarks that were pointed out on the bus tour. Very cute and refreshing environment. Everything was organized and accounted for as we arrived on the bus. The music was lovely to sing along to and just enjoy the ride.
