While skiing on the black Bowl Hill run, a collision occurred between myself and a female skier who failed to yield to downhill traffic. As a result of the collision, the skier entered the brush area adjacent to the trail. My son, who was present at the time, and I immediately removed our skis and assisted the skier out of the brush. Several individuals riding the lift overhead called down to ask whether assistance was required. As a trained First Responder with Advanced First Aid and CPR certification, I advised them that there were no injuries and that assistance was not necessary. Despite this, additional comments continued to be shouted from the lift, at which point I reiterated that everything was under control. Shortly thereafter, members of the Brimacombe Ski School arrived and inquired about the situation. I again confirmed that I was a trained First Responder and that there were no injuries. I was advised that Ski Patrol had been contacted and was en route. I stated clearly that this was unnecessary, as the skier had already been assisted and had resumed skiing without issue. Despite this clarification, Ski Patrol personnel arrived and immediately addressed me in what I perceived to be an aggressive and accusatory manner. I was informed that I had been rude, though no explanation was provided. The interaction escalated unnecessarily. I advised the attending patroller that there was no ongoing incident and that I would not continue the conversation given the manner in which I was being addressed. I then left the scene and proceeded toward the Bowl Lift. Upon arriving at the Bowl Lift, I was informed by the lift operator that I was not permitted to board, as Ski Patrol had radioed ahead to restrict my access. Approximately five minutes later, two male Ski Patrol members arrived and continued questioning me in an aggressive tone. I was asked what school I was with; I replied that I was not affiliated with any school and was skiing with my son. I was then asked for my name and identification. I responded that I was not aware of any legal authority requiring me to provide identification under the circumstances. I was told, "Don't worry, we will find you." At this point, I wished to leave the premises. However, the only available exit route required boarding the Bowl Lift, skiing down the opposite side of the hill, and returning to the parking area. I was effectively prevented from leaving. I stood at the lift area for several minutes, in front of approximately 20-30 students, parents, guests, and my son, feeling embarrassed and distressed. I advised Ski Patrol personnel that I needed to board the lift in order to exit the property. I was then directed to surrender my 4-hour day pass. In the process of removing it, my ski jacket was damaged. After approximately ten additional minutes, I was finally permitted to board the lift and leave the area. The most concerning aspect of this incident is that I was prevented from exiting the resort. Denial of access to the only available egress point effectively detained me without lawful authority. Additionally, my ski pass was confiscated without explanation, justification, or due process. What I was responded with was: With no other witnesses other than my son and a family friend, it was stated that "I was the cause of the collision even though I had the right of way according to the "Alpine Rules". I was accused of using vulgar and profane language when "my" witnesses said I was calm, collective, and indicated only to the people in the lift above to "mind their own business.", not knowing they were employees as they never identified themselves. I blocked their staff from their 'First Aid assessment" even though as a First Responder, I assessed no injuries. I was told that, "We have no requirement to allow anyone to reload a ski lift once their pass has been removed, there is no place on the property that a person cannot walk back to their vehicle." However, this lift, to my knowledge was the only way back to the main area of the resort where I could obtain my private property and my vehicle. The only other way would be to walk up a ski hill which is dangerous and not advisable due to oncoming skiers. I was advised I was not being allowed to load the lift; however, the Operations Manager accused me of lying and said there was an "unrelated obstruction at the other end." When I was advised otherwise on why it was stopped. There was zero transparency, zero accountability, and zero investigation. This was all damage control on Brimacombes end as they have no experience in taking accountability for their actions and took it upon themselves to lay blame against a customer and breach my Charter of Rights by not letting me leave the premises. read more

Overpriced. Tiny chalet to change in but lots of space upstairs but if you want to eat, don't expect a table. They are taken by parents with kids in lessons with their own packed food. On Monday January 26 they posted 4/5 lifts running. There were only 3. Conditions stated machine groomed powder and the hills were not groomed. Parking lot is filled with giant pot holes. Had vouchers and the last time we checked in at the parking lot, they told us to go to the main chalet. This time we went to the main chalet and the customer service person barked at us for going there. Terrible customer service and false info. My son's ticket (sticker) fell off (it's -20 today) and they would not replace even though we had proof of purchase. They claimed that we didn't put on the sticker correctly. We went to Brimacombe/Kirby ski hill on a Friday night with two friends for the evening. It wasn't busy at all and we only had to wait for one or two groups in line ahead of us at the chair lift. Two chair lifts were open. Each chair lift fits the standard 4 people - one was a ski-up chair lift and the other had a conveyor belt where it moves you forward which was new to me. It was about $50 per person for a ski pass for night skiing, the last run was at 9:30pm. The ski chalet was pretty homey, nothing too fancy with the seating area, but it was warm and the poutine and hot chocolate were very good There was lots of parking available. We basically skied from the car to the hill so we didn't have to bring our boots. You can rent equipment if you don't have your own as well :) read more

This place has been our second home on wintry weekends since we first discovered it earlier this year. And what an ABSOLUTE GEM this place is. We skied Lakeridge last year and for the most part enjoyed spending time there but found it to be crowded on most weekends. Brimacombe is about the same amount of driving time for us but we like the runs here so much more. We loved the fact that the runs are wider and longer than Lakeridge. It does get crowded at times but for most part, we don't feel as overwhelmed here as there are plenty of runs to switch back and forth from to avoid the crowd. As much as I love Brim, there is one thing that irks me to no end. There are multiple openings in the treelines between the runs that some skiers/snowboarders like to use to switch runs mid-hill. This is particularly dangerous when the said patrons are carrying enough speed as they emerge from a treeline crossing paths with an unsuspecting skier already skiing down the run. My daughter has had a close call with a skier who decided to launch himself out of such opening right into her path. Had she not been able to avoid him, it would have landed someone in a hospital. I will bring this point to the management and see what they can do about it other than roping off all such opening to prevent people from using it for such dangerous shenanigans. Overall, we love Brim and will continue to ski/snowboard here for years to come. read more

i've been coming here for years and the aspects i like about it are the prices are affordable, like the beginner discovery package ($50 for rentals, bunny lift ticket, AND a group lesson), and also, I like that the corporate structure is a co-operative and so there's no one person trying to make as much money as possible. The staff includes a lot of teenagers but in my experience they've been more helpful than not. read more

Good spot for a quick ski trip. It is about 45-55mins from Toronto. The slopes are relatively smaller than Blue or Mt St Louis, but comparable to Dagmar or Snow Valley. Weekday lift tickets are $25, which is about 50% of any comparable ski hills. The ticketing at the main entrance (base chalet) can be slow, but if you have your own gear, you can get your ticket at the ticketing booth on the top of the hill). There is a caf selling pizza, burgers, poutine, etc, but nothing too fancy. Definitely recommend coming here for a quick warm-up to start the season! read more

A good ski hill close to the City but especially good for those living in the East end of the Greater Toronto area. 21 runs double if not tripe the length of the runs at Lake Ridge or Dagmar. 2 terrain parks. Great week day rate of $22 from 9 am to 4:30pm. Night skiing available also. Ski shop on site. I did not go into the main Chalet so no idea if it is nice or if the food was good. But the skiing is really good for being 1 hour from Markham. read more

Wouldn't let me pick 0 Stars so here's the closest I could get!! Some of the training staff are AWFUL! My to two 14 year old girls were BALLING after a ski instructor told one of them to "take off your skis. You should be down for the day." And the other "you'll never get a black just stop trying." After taking the ski tests to see what hills they can go on. My girls have been skiing since they were 11 with professional trainers at various places and have previously skied at this hill many times with a black ski pass. Needless to say, their night was ruined. They had the wide selection of 3 HILLS. After paying $50 each just for a lift ticket. Unbelievable customer service. DO NOT COME HERE! Thank you "J.P." The "highest level skier in Ontario" for ruining the kids fun experience at Brimacombe, I hope you feel good about yourself. Do yourself a favour and drive the extra 1.5 hours to Sir Sam's!! read more

Medical Cannabis Users avoid this place like the plague. In the three years I have been using medical cannabis to treat my PTSD, I have never been made to feel as unwelcome as I was today. First I am approached in the parking lot by a young lady with a radio who looked like she was on a mission. Her first words were "excuse me, you can do THAT here". THAT, as it turns out, was me smoking medical cannabis in a huge outdoor parking lot. Where people are allowed, by the absence of signs indicating otherwise, to smoke cigarettes. When I asked about this she told me there was NO designated smoking area and that she encouraged people to smoke in their vehicles, and I quote, "you know, because of the kids". What? Little more staff education needed with that one. So I get into the chalet, get my son ready for his race, and proceed to ask a young lady wearing a Brimacombe name tag if there was a designated smoking area. She kindly pointed me to an area outside that was clearly marked. Kindest and most helpful girl all day. I proceed to said area and see that there is a stipulation that there is no recreational use of cannabis, but medical use will be accommodated by talking to the main chalet. Not wanting to cause a fuss, and already quite agitated by not being able to smoke, I went back to the chalet to check in. This is where is gets really stupid and I hope you see how stupid it is. I go to customer service. Big line up. I go to the side, everyone glares, as they should. Crickets. So I went outside for a smoke while I waited. Any longer and I was going to lose it. Finally a lady tried to get me an answer, but failed. Then the manager, I guess, finally showed up. His brilliant plan was that every time I needed a smoke (I smoke 20-30 times in the course of a normal day) I would have to come to the desk, get stared at (increasing my anxiety and agitation) and then someone would escort me out to the back of the building, away from the smoking area. So, the time comes and I head to the desk to get someone to show me to my special place and I am told that I can just go there myself. So I walk out past the smoking area, past the place where the kitchen dumps all of their garbage and grease, past some sea cans and right in front of some office windows. Well, might as well smoke here. Then I walk back through the smoking area that is now full of smokers to drop off my butts. There was no can in my special area. As an ex-smoker who hates the smell of cigarette smoke I find that kind of ironic. As should you. Now, to the whole reason for this review. Your BS excuse. You told me that I couldn't smoke medical cannabis with all of the people killing themselves one cigarette at a time because people wouldn't understand the difference between medical and recreational. That is of ZERO concern to me. What I am doing is 100% legal and has been since before recreational was legalized. Like YEARS and YEARS before. (someone tried to use the excuse that they were new to all of this). You are doing nothing but perpetuating a stereotype that cannabis is bad. It's not. Whether recreational, or medical, it's here to stay. Anyone who smokes or drinks and doesn't agree with cannabis, needs to seriously educate themselves. As for Little Miss, "you know, the children", who herself wasn't that long ago a child. I have two children who almost lost their father forever a few years ago, because there was no effective treatment for my PTSD symptoms. They have grown up from the ages of 3 and 7 knowing what I smoke every day. I also educate them, which I can only hope other parents would do instead of just judging. If I see someone drinking a beer, I don't automatically think they are an alcoholic. So when you see me smoking a joint, don't automatically assume I am some degenerate dirt bag. I spent spent 24 years of my life serving this country at home and abroad. I'm far from a degenerate dirtbag. If your goal was to just make me go away, Congrats!, you succeeded. read more

Need to work on their customer service in the pro shop. Cashier was rudely interrupted by another staff member to check on something in regards to their computer system while in the middle of my purchase. The cashier took my money, put it in the till and closed it. I then had to wait several minutes while they discussed this before the cashier would complete my transaction, give me my change and receipt. Better training required. read more

Brimacombe is a great ski resort for families and at a competitive price. There is a variety of runs (21) which are a decent length. There is a store on site and the main chalet is nice and has a variety of food. Try to avoid peak hours to grab food during the night ski, I went in to eat around 7 and the line was huge and took a while. One of the ski lifts has a belt which, makes it easy for beginners to get on. Overall a nice ski resort to visit with families and friends. read more
