Egan Marine Houseboat Rentals - What a wonderful view! Enjoying coffee on our first morning on the water.

We just recently had our first experience with Egan houseboats. The positive, the staff were…read morefriendly, the check in and on board training was quick, and the digital GPS maps for navigating is very helpful for getting around the lakes. We were disappointed with several things that really impacted on our trip overall. First we had to switch boats after we got settled in and unpacked due to a broken fridge on the first boat. Annoying, but not the end of the world especially since the first fridge was also smelly a had mold. The second night we had to park the boat early because of motor issues. Staff was responsive when we called in and the motor was quickly fixed, but not till the the next morning as it started having issues to close to 5pm. We were told to park the boat till the mechanic could look at it the next day. This was frustrating as we had only booked the four day trip. There continued to be an ongoing struggle to get the motor to fire up which was stressful for my husband. The motor rarely fired up right away. The boats appear very old. We were super disappointed in the kayak set- up! We paid for two kayak rentals but the kayaks were put on the roof of the houseboat and we had no way to get them down or to get them back up. We had thought the kayaks would be towed or stored in a much more accessible way. We had really looked forward to kayaking around the little islands but despite paying almost $200 for the kayak rentals we could not use them. There really should have been some warning about this setup at booking. Another thing we should add, is that it can be a struggle to fish off the boat directly given the overhang on each end of the boat. Just something to keep in mind if you want to do a lot of fishing. We rented the 40' boat and found it fusterating to fish from.

Spent 6 nights on the 40' boat and was pleasantly surprised. It seems the boats are getting…read morerenovated inside and some of the exterior so had one of the updated models. These boats drive well so would recommend for first time houseboaters. Plenty of storage, rates are decent for the high season. These boats are ideal for 2 to 4 people although the 40 foot could sleep more. Helpful staff, highly recommend and looking forward to another trip next summer. When in Bobcaygeon I recommend visiting Kawartha Diary and Bobcaygeon Bakery.

The clubhouse is situated at the end of Gordon street and offers a fantastic view of lake Ontario. Amenities are much like those from a well kept small resort with the convenience facilities like the showers, a staffed bar, multiple outdoor patios and communal BBQ for the members and their guests. Since we joined towards the end of this year's boating season, we did not get to experience the regatta and other fun activities like the Octoberfest planned by the club, but we're looking forward to enjoying the full experience next year.

From intro sailing for little kids (called Mosquitos) to more advanced sailing programs (White Sail) to advanced sailing techniques and racing (Broze, Silver, Gold), the WYC is a superb place for smart, active, eager kids who love the water and want to learn many life lessons and skills they will hold onto for the rest of their lives. Our favourite instructor Ian has moved on and now Emma has taken over. My son raves about Emma and the other instructors. Both on water and classroom instruction. The little kids play games too and have fun. Sunscreen required...at least SPF 45, applied at least twice a day. At the end of the year there is a banquet and the kids get their diplomas, have a meal and awards are handed out. Trust me, this is a great summer program. Space is limited. Go to www.wyc.ca and check out the summer school brochure and schedule. We're not members of the club, you dont need to be either. I hope a couple of members review the club itself...seems like a great group of people.
