I needed cataract surgery and chose Brimhall Eye because they were one of the community care physicians through the VA and that option offered me a faster treatment option rather than waiting longer for an appointment at the VA hospital. The staff there were very nice as I was going through all of the testing needed to determine the severity of my cataracts. I didn't need to wait very long to see the doctor after being in an exam room. The doctor was nice enough, but a bit of a braggart about his practice, experience and results. However, when I tried to explain to him about my anxiety and fear going through a procedure while awake he was very dismissive and patronizing. I asked if he would provide me a prescription for valium, but he told me he couldn't; he wasn't able to. (Why my dentist could provide it to pull teeth and not him was very puzzling to me. If a dentist can, I don't understand why an ophthalmologist can't.) However, it wasn't until I sent an email to his staff explaining the severity of my anxiety that I felt a little more reassured. The day of my first procedure arrived, and as I knew I would, I was experiencing a severe anxiety attack. The staff at the surgical center weren't very helpful or reassuring to me. I was not given enough anesthesia and, as I feared, I could hear and see what was going on around me once taken into the surgical room. Not only that, I could feel the pressure of the instruments and I could see what was going on in my eye. Although I don't remember much of what happened after that, that was traumatic enough. The following week was my second procedure, and like the first time, I was having a severe anxiety attack. He asked me how I was, I told him, and he was again, very dismissive of my feelings. I explained to the doctor what happened the first time and he denied it and tried to gaslight me and tell me I had been dreaming. He tried telling me that he spoke to me and that I did not answer him. That was a load of crap, because I heard everything going on up until the instruments were going in my eye. Not only that, his anesthesiologist was a complete asshole to me. He was extremely rude and treated me like I was an inconvenience to him because I made him get up for a 6am procedure. At least he gave me enough anesthesia so that I did not remember anything for my other eye. It was a horrible, horrible experience. And now two years later I have to have laser surgery to get rid of the "secondary cataracts" that have developed. I will be having that done at the VA. I refuse go back to the same crappy treatment I got the first time. read more

I saw Dr. Tapan Shah Opthalmologist, for my Primary Sjogren's of 9 years. You have to google him for some reason. It shows 5 Stars! On Yelp there is one that is an Optometrist with lower rating and similar name. FYI... I switched because I wasn't happy with Dr. Brimhall's "vision" of how to care for patient!s and convincing us that his "way" is the best way! Actual time spent with his patents is low and wait times are astronomical! You can review my earlier statements from 11 days ago to further understand why I am passionate about this. Name recognition is not enough. Since then, I have heard from other patient's and those seeing other Opthalmologist's, that wonderful wrap-around care is truly out there in Las Vegas! I was referred to Brimhall Eye by at least two acquaintances. Both of them had positive experiences. I decided to get a Free Consultation for LASIK for both of my eyes. I was very satisfied with how kind and professional everyone was in the office. They scheduled me in at my earliest convenience. Dr. Thomson performed my Lasik procedure and I am very satisfied with my results. They offer you Valium before the procedure. The day of the procedure I was in the office for a total of one hour. The procedure itself felt less than ten minutes and I had immediate results. I went home, slept and had no pain or grittiness. I had my prk lasik done at this location by Dr, Brimhall. Staff and Dr make you feel at ease procedure was maybe 15 minutes. I didn't have pain but once got home my eyelids were so heavy i went to sleep for a few hours. I had a little irritation after but the drops and ibuprofen took care of it. Next morning I felt fine my eyes were just a little itchy. Vision clarity is in and out, but I was told that's normal during the first week.
