From the initial phone call with Logan, to the consultation with Yos, they listened to our concerns/requests & communicated things clearly. Yos was punctual, friendly, and efficient in his evaluation. He generated a detailed report outlining his professional opinion regarding minor cracks in our poured concrete foundation wall & even provided recommendations for preventative maintenance. Five stars!

Late in the summer of '24, we started to see a few cracks developing in our home. No big deal -…read moreit's 70+ years old, cracks happen. And then they kept happening, getting larger and spreading throughout the entirety of the house, and we could no longer open the doors in the basement and 1st floor on the south side of the house. Alarmed, I called a civil engineer and had an assessment done. They ascertained our house was sinking, particularly in one corner, and recommended ~30 push piers around the perimeter and up the centerline of the house... for over $100k. I literally laughed at him and asked him who he thought I was that he thought I could afford that. I called a few other places and got questionable assessments, and then I spoke with Yos from DMV. What a breath of fresh air. He was personable and honest. He recommended we get a 3rd party civil engineer to produce a report with drawings that I could use for any foundation company - even if I didn't go with DMV. We (finally, after a loooong delay on the civil engineer's part) got the report and drawings, and Yos and his team began work in early January to install ~10 helical piers on the sinking corner of the house. It was a pretty invasive project, but his team was fantastic. Fast forward 5 months and the cracks have stopped appearing, with a number of them even closing. We are very satisfied with the work DMV did for us, and are particularly pleased with their honesty. Where one company tried to sell us an overkill solution for six figures, Yos was upfront and told us what we really need - to address that affected area and revisit others if they end up being an issue - for roughly a quarter of the other company's price. That sort of honesty and pricing earns a permanent spot in my trusted contractor list.

We used this company for crawl space renovations. We needed new drainage and a sump pump installed,…read moreas well as new vapor barrier and insulation. Included with our contract was installation of two new crawl space access doors. In the beginning, I was looking forward to working with a local small business. Drew, the owner's son, said their reputation as a good company was very important to them and they would really like our business. This meant a lot to me at the time and it made me feel like we were in good hands. We had numerous communication issues with this company on numerous occasions. The communication issues that we had were with Drew and the Office Manager, Brenda. On more than one occasion, Brenda was extremely rude and unprofessional; making it more difficult to work with this company. Brenda even called and argued with us as to when bills were due and when money needed to be paid, even though it was already in a contract. TBC wanted to charge us $1250.00 for two new crawl space doors. The work that was described in our contract did not reflect the work that took place in constructing these doors. The white particle board was reused from the original door cover, the wood that was used to build the frame for the smaller door was reclaimed wood or old wood from other projects. One of the pieces is a left over floor board. Both of the doorways to the crawl space were already framed out, so the only thing this company did was put door latches on and use reclaimed wood for a frame. When we called the company, we spoke to Drew and Brenda about or dissatisfaction with the work that was done on these doors. We told them we did not feel comfortable paying more than $50 for the doors because it was not worth more than that. After arguing with Brenda, the price was dropped to $200 for poorly made doors that we had to fix to meet our needs. Drew offered to have his technician come out to fix the doors, but we declined. If this was a representation of the work, we would have done it ourselves. After all of the work was completed, we went into the crawl space to inspect the work. We found our cable junction box underneath the vapor barrier and the dryer duct was disconnected to the outside vent. We put our trust in this company and are greatly disappointed. We wonder what it would have been like had we chosen a different company to do this work. We sent pictures to Drew and we have tried to discuss our concerns with this project but we feel like all of our concerns have fallen on deaf ears. For the amount of money that we have paid, I expected better and would not recommend this company.

The owner came out Wednesday July 27th, and said I'd have an estimate by the following Mon-Tues after he spoke to the team that did this type of work. I called the following Wednesday after hearing nothing and was told he was out of the office and I'd get an estimate the following week. I asked where was the person who the owner was going to talk to, and could he just give me the estimate. He's not available. (?) I tried to be patient but this went on for almost a month. They eventually started avoiding my calls. Today I called twice, no answer. Right after I hung up, I had someone else call from a number they wouldn't recognize and they picked right up with the same song and dance. The owner is "away"--again. They should have just said they couldn't do the job instead of jerking me around for 3 weeks. Ridiculous!

We were so frustrated! We figured out that our county's website has a record of all of the permitted work done in the county in the last 3.5 months, and you can sort by project. It also lists the sq footage of the project and the cost. We could see that Kefficient had done the most permitted projects in our county and they had a fair and competitive price compared to other companies who got their work permitted. We ended up deciding to work with Kefficient. What a world of difference! They quickly got a permit and did the work and had it inspected and it looks great. What a relief after such a poor experience with a different company!

This was a far more difficult project, and unfortunately, I couldn't be on site during the project. The light near the dehumidifier is game-changing and they even gave me a moisture monitoring device. When I learned how cool it was, I asked if I can have one for my 1st house, and they offered it to come brin git by(free).
