I use a remote gauge and it's pretty accurate, and I have no issue doing it this way. This gives them an idea how much fuel we're burning and allows them to get me on the delivery schedule. With any snow or ice storm, I clear the driveway, our sidewalk and I remember to clear a path to the tank. This last storm (1/25/2026) was brutal, a lot of sleet and freezing rain. The driver showed up as scheduled on Feb 3rd and was thrilled to see a clean spot on the street for him to park the truck, with a clear path to the tank. And hats off to the delivery guys, they're awesome!

Economy Propane called our neighbor 2 days later said they were not coming because there was snow on the street. There is snow on every street in the city. The Federal authorities have issued an emergency order allowing fuel to be delivered on snowy or icy roads. Economy Propane said they didn't care even though our street is pool table flat. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU DEPEND ON PROPANE.

The EIA dot GOV websites states that the Maryland delivered to home cost per gallon as of 24 February 2025 is $3.785/gallon. Another local company, Taylor Gas, is currently as of today, 04 March 2025, $3.30/gallon. It blows my mind that Suburban is so simply robbing customers in Southern Maryland. After I called and complained, they gave me a 20% discount (now $4.968/gallon). That is still 50.55% higher than what Taylor Gas charges. If you have the option to go to just about any other provider in Maryland, maybe you should. But... but, if you have a tank with Suburban at your home that you bought with the tank already installed, you are stuck in their lease (which costs roughly $48/year). That is not bad, right? You cannot buy your way out of the lease in order to use other suppliers for much lower costs. You are stuck. If you want to cancel service with them, then you will have to get that tank remove (out of the ground) at your cost. Why can't you buy out of the lease, because their lawyers gave them the great idea to state that the tank is used and they cannot sell it to anyone. Where is D.O.G.E. where you need them? This sounds like a bad dream and it is. Suburban Propane should be avoided at all costs...

We had suspected gas leak months ago when we called to schedule a refill we told them we aren't using the gas this fast and they never told us they tested it at all. I found the leak myself and they came out to repair it, I lost hundreds of dollars in lost propane over a few month time and they still charged me for the repair, apparently we own the gas line running from the tank to the house. This was very disappointing because we asked them to check for a leak and they never did, we have a half empty tank AGAIN. We are billed for the repair and we are also stuck paying for all the lost gas. Sorry to say but we will be shopping around before we refill this time.

I have enough of a grasp on basic economics to know well enough that a 67% mark up is excessive, even for a small business.

Bobby from Burch Oil explained everything heat pump to me and helped me make informed choices. (Did anyone else know that Burch Oil installs and works on heat pumps?) One of the 4 ended up being a lemon (by no fault of Burch Oil), and it was a long road to convince the company that makes the heat pumps to replace it. Those at Burch Oil helped in every way they could and eventually it was replaced. Fast forward to nowadays. Another of the heat pumps stopped working at the beginning of this heat wave on Sunday. During every week I am an hour away caring for my elderly mother at her house and can't leave without arranging care for her. Burch Oil responded immediately to my call and worked with me to arrange an appointment the next day that I could be there for. James figured out what was wrong and ordered the part, and told me it is covered by warranty--I didn't even know that, but they keep track. The part arrived the very next day. Then Buddy in dispatching worked with me to arrange a time to install it 24 hours later when I could come home again--they may have been able to install it earlier, but I couldn't come any sooner. What a relief! I'm having my granddaughters at my house this weekend and originally thought there was no way the AC would be working by then, but Burch Oil came through, and everyone I talked to was helpful and friendly and concerned for me. I could never find the words to express how grateful I am for their help, caring and personal business model, and constancy over the years.

A very unhelpful technician (1-star) came and went in less than 10 minutes, telling me he couldn't smell the odor so I'd "need a second opinion". I called back to SMO for further assistance. Tyrisha Monroe assisted me (5-stars!). Each time I called in, I spoke with Tyrisha. She was extremely courteous, understanding, and helpful. She immediately scheduled a more experienced technician to my case. Within a few hours, Reggie was at my door (5-stars++!). Reginald Morton has serviced our furnace in the past. He is extremely professional, wise in his trade, and a genuinely nice man whom I gladly welcome into my home. Reggie worked hard, trouble shot the issue, explained everything to me, then made sure the entire space was nice and clean before he left. I have always been impressed with Reggie's quality of work and kind demeanor.
