I have planned international trips and Caribbean trips but thought that maybe it would be nice to have a travel agent assist to take some of the stress away that comes with planning for a group.I used A big chain travel company this year to go to Europe because we were visiting more than one country but my next trip I would just need to go to one destination and full relaxation would be my goal( spa, massage, lush vegetation, etc.) I even asked to inform me if a Special came across her desk to any place with a beach, so that I could consider possibly changing my original plans if it sounded good. You would think I asked her to come get me and take me to the airport the way she spoke. Speaking to her for less than 15 minutes wasn't a pleasant experience. You would think she was reprimanding a child. I understand the frustrations of customer service but we didn't even establish a rapport. I would not recommend using this company. You are better off planning your own vacation and keeping the agent fee for drinks. Being nasty or brash is unbecoming.

I have gone via Japan, the UK and the Christmas Market tour in Europe. Each time, I have received good advice that I would not have thought of and was able to bounce ideas off of him with some insightful critique. I appreciate the resources he has access to and for the most part, I was able to travel very smoothly with very little inconvenience. However, I would say to still do your own research in travel because sometimes you or the travel agent may have a better idea in terms of logistics. I am happy to support a local business!

I…read moretold my husband, although excited about that opportunity, I did not want to be on a plane for that long to not visit Italy proper while over there. But neither he nor I wanted the burden of scheduling the who, what, when, where and how of adding onto this vacation. Enter Wayne Steffen! I found him through searching for a travel agent on Yelp. His reviews were awesome and folks wrote about how he came through for them when they had issues. (Very important!) From the beginning, Wayne was so incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us several excellent pieces of advice as we started the process. We just didn't know anything about Europe. I was trying to fit it all in the extra 2 weeks I wanted to add to our trip. Wayne gently suggested that we could spend the two weeks in Italy alone and never come close to seeing all it had to offer. So, that's what we did. We gave him pretty much Carte Blanche to arrange where we would go and what we would see. Well, let me tell you, Wayne, pretty much gave us the vacation of a lifetime! It was so, so wonderful! We just followed his itinerary and most everything went off without a hitch! He booked hotels, convenient to the venues, or arranged transportation for everything he scheduled. Florence, Venice, Rome, Sorento, the Amalfi Coast, Naples, Pompeii, Catania. Whew, so much to see, so beautiful, and we are so grateful for all that we got to see and do, thanks to his suggestions! Lastly, I want to thank Wayne, in particular as there were two issues that happened to us, one was the most serious as the airline taking us to the cooking vacation in Sicily changed the flight schedule and did not notify either us or Wayne.) By the time we figured this out and called Wayne, he was in bed and I was bawling my eyes out. But Wayne immediately got to work and found us a different flight to Sicily that would get us there in time to meet our shuttle to the cooking vacation! He's not only there at the beginning to help plan the vacation, but he was there for the problems that cropped up. If you have any thoughts of needing a travel agent, Call Steffen Travel. He's top of the line!

**Unresponsive during two major issues on European trip- was not worth the cost**…read more My two best friends from childhood and I took a trip to Europe to celebrate a milestone birthday in June. We were referred to Becky by a long time client, but wound up feeling that we were lower priority clients, perhaps felt that she was doing us a favor and didn't need to work quite as hard? She wasn't always super responsive but we knew she was busy with other clients, and especially liked that she was helping clients currently on their trips, as that was just what we hoped for just in case anything went wrong in a foreign country! Unfortunately, one of our hotels in Italy did not have our reservation when we arrived (showed "cancelled") and was completely booked. I emailed Becky and got her out of office message, with no mention of another colleague to contact while she was out! Luckily the hotel manager called a friend at a neighborhood hotel and got us booked there. It took a while plus had the hassle of traveling to the new hotel, so we missed some planned activities as a result. She reached out after the issue was resolved, but we did appreciate the follow up at least. Our return flight was delayed over 10 hours, which required us to rebook our connections for the second legs of our flights. We had booked this flight specifically because Becky, as a travel agent, was required to book round trip tickets on the same airline. However, when we reached out (repeatedly) for help rebooking she was non-responsive (until we got home, so no question of the time difference.) We had to spend hours on the phone with the airline to get rebooked. (Had we not booked with her, and instead selected another itinerary that we had found on our own with multiple airlines, we would have left on time.) Upon returning home, I had hoped Becky would reach out with an explanation. I asked about one after a couple days and never received a response. She did get our initial hotel booking cost back, but didn't show any initiative to find out why we were in that stressful situation to begin with. I find this incredibly unprofessional, and honestly insulting since we paid for her services and genuinely wanted to know what had gone wrong. I completely understand taking time off, but she should have either designated a backup or let us know in advance so we could plan accordingly. I won't be using this agency again. I am often asked for referrals at work for clients (realtors, travel agents, etc) and also in good consciousness couldn't recommend Travel To Go, so unfortunately treating us as second class clients will cost them future business as well.

If so would it hurt to hire a receptionist? Now I have given them a 2 because they are so highly recommended but if I call a business during business hours I expect someone to answer, not "loop"me. I wasted almost 10 mins trying to get their attention and travel agents wonder why so many of us use the internet and do our own travel.

He first got to know me well enough that when I asked for a specific cruise, he was able to steer me to the most appropriate cruise lines, ports, and activities. Before I even left on the cruise, he was emailing me regular updates about the different ports I would be visiting and showing the breadth of activities available in each port. At no time did he try to sell me on more than I asked for. All he did was keep me informed on things he thought I would want to know about. I will never use any other travel agent for my cruises. And when I move much further away from his location, it is comforting to know that I can continue to use him just as conveniently, since he is always as close via internet. I highly recommend Ron for any cruise.
