It would have been an excellent trip except for our guide on the boat. He was condescending and unnecessarily rude. I've been on multiple other trips like this and have never had a bad experience with a guide prior to this trip. He also drank alcohol excessively from morning until evening, even when he was the sole person responsible for us on remote island treks. I raised my concerns with the captain, who admitted that the guide's drinking has been an ongoing problem. When I returned home, I alerted headquarters to my concerns, but strangely they have decided to keep this guide on staff, despite his excessive drinking being verified by boat staff. Everything else on the trip was amazing, including the pre-trip communication, other boat staff, and natural beauty of the Galapagos. So it totally confuses me as to why INCA would retain such an employee.

The islands of course were great but the experience on board the Integrity was fantastic. The ship, food, guide and entire crew were highlights of the trip. The guide Richard had vast experience in Galapagos. His knowledge was encyclopedic but with a fantastic sense of how to impart the information in a fun and understandable way. We knew this already since we had been with him before and a big reason for coming back. The food was exceptional and artfully served by the friendly crew. The ship has had an entire refit since our last trip and it has a new light and spacious feel (even though for the maximum of 16 people it already is spacious). It is a big advantage too having free laundry service on board. The internet connection was a pleasant surprise this time. It is free and also fast with total coverage. If you use messaging or WiFi calling on your cell phone your phone works the whole time. As before everyone in the Inca office is so knowledgeable and helpful. Like with all travel hiccups can happen but they are ready and able to help. I highly recommend Inca and the Integrity.
