***Update 9/15/15*** I'm so happy to say that this cute patisserie is as good as it was when we last visited a few years ago. (Nothing's worse than returning to a place that you had a positive experience at to discover it's gone downhill). This past summer, we were ignored when we tried to have lunch at the nearby outdoor café at the "5 Saisons" so we returned here, to the Brioche Doree, for a casual mid-day meal. The display case was overflowing with enticing wraps and sandwiches and pastries and cakes and breads and palmiers and other cookies and treats. My kids shared a wrap which, though pricey, was large enough for two to share (easily). It came with a small but prettily plated and very fresh salad, which they loved. They also had chocolate croissants which were super fresh and flaky and wonderful. I had a café au lait which is one of my most-missed Montreal pleasures and it was wonderful as well. A side note: the washroom here is cute and clean. You can tell a lot about a place by how well kept they keep their bathroom (in my opinion)! This is a great, unpretentious café with super fresh foods and well-crafted coffees. Good to know we can count on this place. read more

So disappointed this place closed :_-( I loved its awesome little apricot almond tarts and pear almond tarts, delicious Portugese custard tarts, great croissants; in fact, all their pastries were great. I try this place every other weekend This week though I tried the Christmas log. Fantastic! A must try! The girls working here are extremely polite and helpful to tell you what they have in the window!! It ok nothing special ,this place was sold 1.5 years ago , unfortunately new owner don't know how operate this business , he let go all the employees to keep the operating cost down, I see many people goes there to buy a croissant since there is only 1 employe it takes forever to pay so people don't wait and leave,plus the new owners ( wife and husband ) not very friendly they dint speak any English so they can't communicate properly , To my opinion they should open up a business in more french area rather than Westmount , I hope iam wrong but I don't think this place will last , yes it's a nice location yes they have nice interior to sit and have coffee or lunch yes it's comphortable yes decor is decent but food sucks, before the new owners came they had nice homemade Italian hot food but now it's like a hospital food , anyways I wish the best for the owners Regards read more

Cute little cafe on Greene ave. The cafe itself is tiny but there are quite a few tables for you to sit with your coffee and catch up with a friend. I dropped by for a chai latte and chocolatine on an early weekday morning and it was already very busy. The service was quick and I grabbed a seat to enjoy my chocolatine and read my book. It's a cozy cafe with a calm atomsphere. The treats are good and their coffee is decent too. I did not try any of their sandwiches or other food options but I am willing to go back and explore. Definitely a nice cafe to check out if you are in the area. read more

Love this place!!! Great food, great decor, excellent service and very good location. You go there, and it's not like those other restaurants/coffee places. Even if "Brioche dorée" is a chain, the owners designed the whole place. They did it with taste and a lot of chic! And speaking of taste: the food!!! Extremely tasty. And the variety! You could literally go a few times a week and never have the same thing. Today I tried this new wrap, it's like a sushi wrap...wow! Owners and staff are great and make you feel like family. Looks nice, but that's it. The only dough prepared on the premises is the pizza dough, and not all the time. The other breads are shipped in and heated as required (all this from an employee there - fair enough, so no fresh dough). The selection, however, seems rather unimpressive. The absolute worst part, though, were gnats and a few insects flying/crawling over the breads (uncovered, next to the cash register). Under no circumstances should there be insects, especially unnoticed by staff, on my prospective food purchase, very disappointed! read more

Pleasant place inside, but they do not offer wifi. Pastries are average and pricey. Latte is pretty good though, so the two stars are for that. Staff is not welcoming and don't look very pleasant. No eye contact from the beginning to the end. They do not show prices, so that's kind of annoying. Other customers were asking about their prices too. A lady was trying to order something, but the employee would go and wash things instead of helping her till the end. Come on, that's so unprofessional! And it wasn't even busy. Been there for three years now. Since 2 months they've been ridiculously decreasing the size of their salad meal. I confronted the cashier about that, because my salad was frankly not enough for a lunch (even though I'm a woman with a not that big of appetite). After 2 minutes of arguing she finally admitted that they cut back the size because otherwise they would of increased the price by 3$ or 4$. Furthermore, they have less choices overall. Brioche Dorree is possibly the best pastry shop in the Downtown area! There croissants are fresh, flavourful and much better than chains such as Premiere moisson or Pain doree. Definitely recommend the almond croissant and their liquor products which is a unique product for the area considering its a café. The owners are very kind and take the time to greet and thank customers. The atmosphere is sophisticated with a nice trendy decor. It does get busy during the afternoons! To the 2 reviewers rating this place subpar, i would have to disagree as their pastries are some of the best in Montreal and definitely the best croissants and fresh parisian-style sandwiches you will find in Westmount, with the personal service and quality food products there is no reason not to visit brioche doree if you're in the area. read more

Disgusting and unhealthy! I've been visiting this place a couple of times a year for a few years. Food had never been amazing, but this time it was terrible! I don't know if it's because it was on a Saturday and they kept the left over from the week, but NOTHING looked fresh in the shop. I wanted to have lunch, so I took a look at the sandwiches: The salmon and meat looked like they had been standing there for more than a day. It honestly looked unhealthy. They also offered the kind of industrial brunch you get for free in hotels: sausages, eggs and potato pancakes. I Decided to go for that because this kind of industrial food does not HAVE to be fresh to be edible. Well they managed to screw that. The Potato pancake was hard like plastic and tasted like fry oil. I also had a chocolatine ("Chocolate croissant") and I could not eat it as it tasted like spoiled food . I also had a chocolate cupcake: the topping cream was harder than the cake itself. So it must have been there for days. I'm positive I would have had better cup cakes at the grocery store. I don't know what happened with this shop. I understand it's a franchise, they don't bake their stuff themselves, but come on don't sell spoiled food! Did the owner change? It's really a pity because the shop itself is nice with its seating area. To the reviewer below (Nancy): There is no way in hell that this place ever served anything amazingly good. Even in 2013 when it was decent. They don't bake their stuff. It's quite easy, especially in Montreal with the strong french immigration, to get a better croissant. read more

I bought a brie and apple sandwich for lunch today, on what seemed a nice sesame baguette. The lady asked if I wanted it warm, I thought it would be put on a grill to make a panini. I suppose she put it in a microwave : instead of a crusty and warm sandwich I got a rather indigestible soft piece of bread, I ended up eating only the inside. Which was kind of bland, by the way. Came in to buy a selection of Macarons and Cupcakes expecting a delicious treat for my friends at tea time. The noticed a hair on the vanilla cupcake in the display and asked them to remove it before someone sees it. The Macarons were tasteless which was dissapointing but even worst was the cupcakes which all flavours vanilla, chocolate and red velvet were probably the worst I have ever tasted they were hard and completely dry I had to throw them out. They clearly do not care about quality I am deeply disappointed and discusted that they would even sell products that I swear were probably in that display for weeks on end. I was so embarrassed to have offered these products to my friends. read more
