We came across this pastry shop in the train station and couldn't resist trying a couple of their beautiful French pastries. The two we picked (pictured) were both delicious. One had a subtle lemon flavor, and the cream puff (choux) was filled with a whole hazelnut inside--a nice surprise that I loved. What stood out was that they weren't overly sweet, which made them even more enjoyable. Prices were reasonable at around $7 each, and they do accept credit cards. I love their croissant. They are located in the Via station. B and I came here to grab a small bite before heading off to Toronto. I got a croissant and OMG. it was super flaky. You can taste the yummy butter flavor. It was an absolute treat. The good thing is that they open early in the morning. Everything is freshly baked and made on the day. Service was great. I was craving croissants for breakfast so I did a quick Google search and came across this place. I had a hard time finding it though since it was underground in the train station and Google maps was not helpful with that. I got the almond croissant and the apple turnover. The almond croissant was a bit flatter than I expected but it was very filled inside! The apple turnover was so buttery and flaky!!! An amazing bakery inside a train station? In Montreal, yes... Les Halles de La Gare over at La Gare Centrale de Montreal seemed mainly utilitarian, so stores and restaurants inside are primarily that. However, you'll find some nice places though, and this bakery chain is without exception. I came at the end of the day, so I didn't expect total freshness and variety. I opted for a plain croissant and a chausson aux pommes (French apple turnover). Even though it was the end of the day, they still had a decent amount of baked goods available. The croissant, I won't grade. I didn't get around to it until the next day, and you really can't have a croissant that's likely 24 hours old. I'm sure they were baked the previous morning. However, the turnover was likely the best turnover I've had in a long time. The dough was outstanding, with a flaky texture that wasn't too sweet. The apple filling inside balanced sweet and tart, and it didn't overpower the pastry. I would definitely want to try everything else the next time I'm around. Located in the train station, Les Halles de la Gare, Premiere Moisson is a great place for breakfast, a snack for the train, or a lovely dessert for home. However, later on in the day, the shelves were a bit bare. The mille feuilles were long gone, as well as the éclairs and pains aux raisins. And I did not see my fave, olive fougasse. My sister loves the almond croissant but I had eyes only for the apple turnover (chausson aux pommes). I held my breath, hoping that all the customers in line in front of me, would not select the sole turnover left. Luckily, I was able to enjoy the incredibly flaky, buttery turnover filled with tart apple filling. Note to self, go early for best selection, including the mille feuille. read more

When I let the unfriendly manager know that the $4 pastry was stale, he could not even apologize, and worse, he would not remove the remaining 2 stale ones on display. Boulangeroe Premiere Moisson may has the best pastry or croissant in Montreal. But its convenient location, right inside Gare Centrale and consistency is worth a 4 star. I always pick up some goodies for my train ride to Toronto. Croissants, French pastries and cakes and even a sandwich. I like how the lines are divided into different sections so the lines tends to be shorter and move faster. Making a decision on what to get at the pastry counter though can be a little challenging for a lot of customers as all their sweets looks pretty and tasty! Last day in Canada and needed to blow $40 fast - what better way to do that than on carbs and more carbs?? All jokes aside, this place is seriously great and the service was fantastic. The workers were super patient even though we were getting so many items all around. Anyways, this buyout was supposed to last us for two days, but they were so yummy they barely lasted one! As in other reviews, the raspberry croissant is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the smoked salmon sandwich as well. I loved the loaf of olive bread but my sister found it on the saltier side. The Brie, pear, and prosciutto sandwich was good, but the bread was a bit too hard. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious, but then again, when is a croissant not?? If you're new to the area, this particular store is a bit hard to find if you're not familiar with the underground mall. Awful. Pure disgusting. Went to the establishment on henri bourassa paid 4$ for a blueberry muffin that tasted like it just came out of the freezer. Complained and instead of the service being accommodating they took my muffin to 3 different hands never offered to warm it up exchange it nothing. They are disrespectful and rude. One of my favorite summer cake is the " folies d'ete". Every time I have an occasion, I either order the Folie d'ete or le Chouchou chocolat et framboises. The Folie d'ete is an almond biscuit with white chocolate and pistachio ganache, with fruits and macaron. The Chouchou chocolat et framboises is a chocolate cake with red fruits cream, chocolate Valrhona ganache and cream puffs. Premiere moisson has all sort of cakes and pastries. They have a huge variety of cakes for all tastes. Quality and service in general are great. They have many branches all across the area. I can say that the laval branch is very efficient. Once I order a last minute cake from there and they were able to full-fill my request with no problems. Their branch in downtown is not that good. They took the wrong order. But they manage to correct it and gave me 2 cakes insteed of 1. Overall, it is a very satifsfying experience buying from Premiere moisson. I am never disappointed. For those who never tryed this place, I strongly recommend it. It is also good to check their website as you can see all the wide variety of products they offer. read more

Review of central station Première Moisson downtown location Première Moisson offers some good quality baked goods. But they charge a premium for quite a bit of mediocre fare. Case in point: I bought a chocolate butter bûche on 12.22.22. It cost 40$. I could not eat a bite. I had to spit it out onto a napkin and throw the rest away. It was beyond stale. Had it been fresh, it still would have been very bland. The bûche certainly looked great but I would take a nutella sandwich any day over Première Moisson's overpriced bûche. Shame on staff for selling stale food. I will never buy from this location again and I will be very very discriminating about what I do buy. read more

While visiting Montreal, I searched far and wide for a delicious croissant. I came upon some good croissants, an absolutely terrible one, and one that was simply other-worldly at Boulangerie Premiere Moisson. This shop is buried in the middle of the food court of the train station, and has a large selection of pastries. I bought an almond croissant and a creme-filled eclair. The croissant was flaky, delicate, buttery and sweet (but not overly sweet). This was the croissant I was looking for in Montreal. The eclair was utterly delicious, as well. The pastry was delicate, topped with a thin layer of chocolate, and filled with wonderful, cool vanilla creme. After savoring these wonderful pastries, I was very attempted to go right back and buy some more, but held off not because I didn't want more, but because I was eating dinner within a couple of hours. If you are in downtown Montreal and enjoy pastries, you owe it to yourself to visit this strange little gem in the middle of the train station. read more

We grabbed some delicious chocolatines and a cinnamon bun here before catching the train. So fresh & delicious! The chocolatine was tender & flaky with a lovely chocolate centre but overall not too sweet. Hubby said the cinnamon bun was excellent and he also noted that it wasn't overly sweet. I think a lot of the Western food we're used to is overly sweetened to make up for the lack of quality and freshness. Yeah...this province is making me into an even bigger food snob. Boulangerie Premiere Moisson was our second breakfast in our Montreal trip and boy oh boy, was it delicious! Not only where we drawn in by the hidden location under the Gare metro but the Raspberry croissant was to die for! The prices were very affordable and we ended up getting a giant box full of goodies and two bags full of their raisin and chocolate bread. This bakery is located in the CN building in the food court. If you are entering from the Rue de la Gauchetière, across the street from bon aventure, the bakery is located at the back left hand side of the food court. It's also right next to the entrance that connects from place ville marie. Don't walk around the block looking for it. Like I did :( I got a few goodies from this bakery as I love baked goods. I didn't know what to expect when I went here but they had a pretty good selection from snacks, sandwiches to cakes and loafs of bread. Everything I got was pretty delicious. read more

[Montreal Food Tour Stop #4] Excellent French bakery in the underground of Montreal's Gare Centrale (train) station. This seems to be the spot where commuters go for a pastry and coffee. Credit cards accepted. Also, this is the place where I've felt worst so far about not being able to speak French. Highlights: So many choices and everything really looks good. I saw enough pastries, cakes, quiches, and sandwiches to justify at least 10 trips back here. After circling the huge display counter several times, I settled on a peach danish and a chocolate croissant. If I had gone with more friends, I would have probably also ordered a cake, a few macarons, a mini-quiche, and cinnamon buns (brioches a la cannelle). Actually, I would have probably ordered a few cakes. The chocolate croissant was very good and the peach danish was excellent. With tasty bites of peach, the right amount of butter, and excellent flakiness, this was the best danish that I've eaten in a while. Critiques: Again, I'm just sad that I didn't come with a group. Everything at this bakery looks so good. And everything I ate tasted really good. Overall: Boulangerie Premiere Moisson is a place you have to stop at before you take a train ride out of Montreal. Premiere Moisson had a promotion on Facebook a little while ago where you could print out a coupon and get a free loaf of bread. I couldn't believe how generous they were and how gigantic the bread actually was. It was perfect on its own, with butter or toasted, for sandwiches etc. Liking them on Facebook has its perks, I found another promotion where I could obtain a free lunch bag. I was already a fan of this bakery for simple classics like butter or chocolate croissants, they are the best in town! So flakey and buttery. Their cheesecakes are another of my favorite, truly rich and decadent, far superior to other cheesecakes I've had in restaurants considering this is one of my favorite desserts.
