Over the last three years I've been here with two of my Hondas and I've been satisfied with the price and service. There should be a way to filter reviews based on service station or sales because I have never been to their sales department and never purchased a car here, but I think their service department is pretty OK. I needed the transmission fluid changed on my Ford F150 because I thought it might fix a rumble my engine was making. Two well-known service stations said they could not do the job, but Bristol Honda said they would. I had already done some research and they were able to work with me and bring the price down to something I could live with. Most importantly, the problem is fixed For now. And if the rumble comes back, I will likely return to Bristol Honda, and try a few more options to fix it permanently. Based on my experience, I think their mechanics/technicians are very skilled at what they do, and the main reason, I would return to this location. Customer service has also always been very good. What a negative experience with ended with us walking out when we were supposed to close on car purchase. Just one screw up after another. In the end we couldn't figure out if sales person was dishonest or simply didn't know what they were doing. Stupid move on the finance manager's part to say "you know we are busy on Saturdays" when I specifically asked the sales person about taking delivery on Monday to avoid waiting and was told "no problem". Then arriving on time and waiting 45 minutes before saying anything. They couldn't even get right telling me which Credit Bureau account to unfreeze. An apology at the time could have saved the sale. Just a circus! Anyway, we have already bought the same model at the same price from another dealership. We think the large broken window on the front of the Used Car office building speaks volumes about the dealership's attitude. I went to the Honda dealership today 06/15/2026 for an oil change and tire rotation. I was there at 7:30am. I was checked by a specialist named Cliff Howard. After about 1 1/2 - 2 hours I went Cliff Howard and asked how much longer it might be to finish. Cliff Howard the only male specialist working that morning shift for intake cars to be serviced started telling me that I need , break fluid, spark plugs, etc. total quote was around $ 2,000.00 dollars. Cliff Howard said he is looking at my car fax paper work. Quick note Honda location in Bristol TN. is corporate. All you have to do is look up car vin number at dealership to see car history. I already knew this going to this location. I asked Cliff Howard was he sure about this quote. Cliff Howard replied yes. I picked up my phone and called the Honda dealership I usually go to in Myrtle Beach. While speaking to them on my phone ( speaker phone) they even realized Cliff Howard was lying and stealing from customers. Cliff Howard started sweating bullets and my dealership in myrtle beach sc started to speak to Cliff Howard and realize in fact Cliff was trying to rip me off. My opinion is dont trust Cliff Howard. I already had this work done on my Honda CRV 2019 in Myrtle Beach SC.. I knew that Cliff Howard was lying from the beginning of his scam!!!! I bought my car at Bristol Honda a couple of years ago. Overall, the car (a Honda, of course) has held up well with only a few expected maintenance issues. At first, bringing it here for service was convenient. Yes, prices were a bit higher, as you'd expect from a dealership, but I felt it was worth it for the peace of mind. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill. Over the past several months, prices have skyrocketed well beyond what inflation can justify, while service quality has noticeably declined. For example, they stopped topping off my windshield washer fluid during maintenance visits. That may sound minor, but it's the kind of small thing that signals larger neglect. As the saying goes, if you spot one cockroach, there are probably a hundred more behind the wall. The final straw was being charged $728.67 to resurface all four rotors, which is a jaw-dropping price that speaks for itself. I'd love to see the breakdown of that number because I suspect there are several made-up fees padded in. In the early days, they were constantly asking me to fill out Honda surveys and leave glowing reviews. I never did, partly because I was already paying them a premium and didn't feel like doing extra work to thank them for it, and partly because I've learned that once businesses get their five stars, customer care tends to slide. And that's exactly what happened here. After this last visit, I responded to the automated text asking for feedback but received no reply. I then contacted American Honda. They were polite but essentially told me that since the dealership is privately owned and my car is out of warranty, there was nothing they could do. I get it, businesses want to make money. But I also have a business to run: my own finances. I've since started going to a trusted local mechanic who doesn't charge nearly $200 just to inspect my vehicle. Actually, they did it for free. I purchased my vehicle here new, and have had nearly every service performed here. Honestly, wishing I hadn't. I'd like to start with the least concerning issue, they WILL try to upsell you on maintenance you don't need. I brought in a vehicle with 29k miles, and they tried to sell me a transmission service. I'm assuming hoping I didn't know any better. Sadly, for the service department, I am familiar with the maintenance schedule of my vehicle. Both severe duty and regular and even under severe use, which I don't do any of quite frankly, the soonest it would have to happen is over 45k miles. The excuse I was given? The computer suggested it. So please know this, if you don't read any further, they will try to sell you service you don't need. Then most recently, the collision mitigation braking system in our vehicle caused us to nearly be rear-ended by a fully loaded 18 wheeler on old Airport Rd. This problem is known enough that there are notices in the manual that tell you when it can't be relied on, and there's a federal investigation into the issue that has seen people killed. When my daughter was test driving the car that she wanted, the air wasn't working properly. The salesman said they would fix it. She left it and they called a few days later that it was fixed. On the drive home, the check engine light came on. She called back and they told her to drop it off and they would check it. It was what we thought was the air conditioner, but was a sensor. They supposedly fixed it, we picked it up and the engine light came back on and the power steering went out. We called and the service advisor told us to bring it back and they would check the sensor that they had replaced. After several days, my daughter got a call and they told her it needed a power steering pump and it would be $1,400. We picked it up and took it and had a power steering pump put on for 1/3 of the price they quoted. They should have stood behind the vehicle that they said had been inspected and fixed what was wrong. She missed days of work and thousands of dollars in pay. I wrote a letter to the General Manager, Mr. Lee, with NO RESPONSE. If that's not enough, we just received a Safety Recall on the vehicle that was issued in February 2024. I went here for an oil change and asked them to quote a wheel bearing replacement since it was making noise. They wanted $753 to replace it and charged me a $120 diagnostic fee even though I already told them what the problem was... They also quoted me $2400 in maintenance work, tires, etc and it was small stuff, fluid changes, spark plug etc... should never be that much money. Needless to say I took my car to another shop which did the wheel bearing replacement for about $275 (~1/3 of Bristol Honda's price, think about that) which was great. But Honda would not give me back my car unless I paid the $120 diagnostic fee... for an issue I had diagnosed!!! I just wanted a quote!! And I was paying them for an oil change, I didn't think they would screw me like this. Anyway, avoid this place by all means. So go to Bristol Honda if you want money stolen from you and your car held hostage. read more

This is not a BBB accredited business, kind of strange since all other dealerships in the area are including Buy Here Pay Here. This place sold me a used car with a washed title which I am currently trying to prove legally. I bought the car in the rain and the windshield is a disaster. They are not allowed to sell a car with an obstructed windshield without disclosing it. In addition, I'm quite sure they had me sign off on an old Carfax report that did not include a fairly major accident that occurred just prior to being auctioned. I am the guinea pig driving this car. They have been completely uncooperative and will do nothing to remedy the windshield and the radar cruise control that doesn't work which I also could not test in the rain. Also they charge $800 in doc fees and don't even shake your hand at the end of the deal. Buy a used car elsewhere and if you are buying a new Honda, I hear Kingsport is much better to work with. read more

I was NEVER contacted by anyone from management about the sales experience below, and I have not been contacted over the missing key as well. I stress DO NOT DEAL WITH BRISTOL HONDA!!! PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE. There is NO way this car should have been sold as certified preowned I do not feel this dealership should even be under the Honda umbrella. thankfully I waited to give my review. I was not a fan of the dealership from get go, and now, I am really not a fan. Upon finding a car and deciding to buy, we were actually asked if we could come back the next day to complete the financing information as there were "several people in front of us", while trying to make it sound like they were trying to do us a favor, it was a Friday night near closing time, and the staff just wanted to leave. Upon finally telling the salesman Cody I was not happy with that given that I live over an hour from the dealership. Paperwork was done on the car, upon purchasing a "certified Honda" I was only given one key, this was NOT disclosed until after the deal was done. Was overcharged for something I suppose? I was sent a check in the mail, I called and left a voicemail for Cody, as the lady who answered was unable to provide any information on the check I received, I did not want to cash until I was told why I was sent a check for over $600.00. To this date I have still not received a call back from the salesman, I guess once you are out, and done they are done. Now EVERY warning light is on the car, every safety system is disabled. Seems we were sold a piece of junk, I do not recommend this dealership at all. A few days ago, my family and I were traveling through the area on our way to NY from FL and ran into some trouble on our 2008 Honda Odyssey. I had no tools on hand to assess the problem so I looked up Gatton Honda, the closest Honda shop. The service department at this dealership was very honest and prices reasonable. OK, my experience is from last year, but it was so good, it deserves a Yelp. Last December I was in an accident that totaled my car. The insurance planned to fix it but finally decided while I was home visiting my family in Tennessee for the holidays that they were going to total it. (Prior to leaving LA, I had looked at the local dealer, just for info gathering so I had a contact here.) Well, being a single woman in LA, my father wanted to be able to help me in any way he could with the process. So in case my car was totaled, we went to Bill Gatton to look at cars. Trace Braxton and Scott Fields went above and beyond the call of duty. I was looking at the Civic and they had a hybrid on site, so they showed it to me -- I was sold on the hybrid. They held the car for me until I got the final decision from the insurance. Well, first call came and they said they were going to fix the car. Within the hour, the company changed their minds and but that hybrid was already gone. But there was one hybrid in the coming shipment that they put my name on. They gave me time to work with the LA dealer (which obviously didn't work out, Bill Gatton gave me a better deal even with shipping cross country -- and it wasn't because there wasn't a desire for the cars here in Tennessee, out of 5 cars on the shipment, I got the last one.) I can't image the car purchase process going any better. Scott and Trace were incredible. They kept me informed during the entire transaction, working with me to get the car as soon as possible -- understanding my need to have a car in Los Angeles. I hope all future car purchases are this easy and full of Southern Customer Service. My wife & I bought a 2010 Honda Pilot from Bill Gatton Honda in August. Our salesman was easy to deal with. We did have to find a salesman to start with (which can be a good thing) we were in the back of the lot and no salesman in sight. We bought a demo that had around 4000 miles on it. There was alot of back and forth between the sales manager but in the end I am pleased with the deal that was made. I did request for the first oil change to be free that was finally sent to me about a month later. I would recommend using Bill Gatton for the purchase of a new or used vehicle. My recommendation for Bill Gatton Honda is to offer Road Side assistance and give at least 3 free oil changes with a new vehicle purchase. We got the 2010 Honda Pilot EXL for a lot less than a 2009 Honda Pilot EXL demo that Johnson City Honda had. read more

They've done nothing but taken care of my needs and of course my vehicle! You guys are always so responsive and informative as can be. Do not buy a used car from these people unless you get it checked out by a trusted mechanic. They are either dishonest or incompetent and will tell you what you want to hear to get your money. I bought a car online and went to great lengths to have them check it out and tell me an accurate condition of the car. Long story short when it got to my house (had it shipped) it needed over $1200 in repairs from oil leaks, seal leaks and other issues. They offered me less than half of the repair costs and demanded I remove all reviews online. I refused the money as it was an insult and would rather help out other consumers (unlike the BBB) rather than take that insult. They are arrogant and unapologetic. Stay away!!!!! read more

My wife and I had been looking online at several cars and dealerships to replace our ageing GMC. When we first arrived at the lot, we were not swarmed like we have been at other dealerships, instead a obsequious salesman, Don M., met at after we were on the lot and looking for cars for about 5 minutes. I asked to take a look at one of the cars and he casually left to get the keys. When he returned he told us he was going to ride with us and jumped in the back. We drove for about 10 minutes and he was silent in the back. He had yet to introduce himself and had complained about it being a hot day. I introduced myself while driving and was tired of wondering how long he was going to wait before doing this himself. As we drove, I compared our test drive car to the car we owned to my wife and pointed out specific features of the car since I had been doing research on that particular model. After the test drive was complete, I asked Don how much the sales price was since it was not printed anywhere on the vehicle. I already knew what it was and saw it was a couple thousand above blue book value. Don stated the advertised price that was on the website and I asked him what was the real value since it was about the KBB price. He stated that the car was popular and he might be able to ask inside what the price was. I knew the car had been on the lot for two months, had my bank's approval for a loan, and had my trade in's title. I was ready to potentially make a deal, but this salesman was so lethargic he totally turned myself and my wife off. Pros: The dealership did not ask to copy my license as some shady places run a credit report while you are on a test drive. Cons: The salesman rode with my wife and I making us a bit uncomfortable and was not interested in making a deal. Maybe he judged us and decided we could not afford the vehicle? Being unsure of exactly what I wanted in my next vehicle, I had two options, both of which Bill Gatton Honda had on their lot. When I arrived at the lot the salesperson who approached me, Wayne, asked some questions to understand my situation, was able to offer lots of information towards helping me chose the vehicle I wanted. After making the decision- arriving at a financing arrangement was no easy task, and was actually not able to be settled on my first visit. Intending to return later that week to complete the transaction, the salesperson contacted me to keep me Informed about what was happening during those interim days. After the financing arrangement was settled, I confirmed my return for complete the transaction. When I arrived that day all of my documents were ready, I was able to go directly into financing, sign my paperwork, and be out the door in just about an hour. My new vehicle was cleaned again, and the salesperson assisted in transferring all of my personal belongings. There were no surprises, headaches, or issues for me during the entire experience with the whole team here. I highly recommend giving them, as well as Wayne, a chance for your business. On the Friday before Memorial Weekend, 2019, in Abingdon, VA in a McDonalds parking lot, my Acura MDX would not start. I called AAA and they sent a towing service to assist. The gentleman who arrived (Al from Exit 7 Towing and Auto in Bristol, VA [check our my yelp review of that business]) arrived and could not get my car started either. Being totally unfamiliar with the area (I live in North Carolina), I went to Google Maps and started searching for an auto repair service. By this time, it was 5:30 PM, on a holiday weekend, and NO ONE was answering their phones. There is no Acura dealer locally, so I took a chance and I called Bill Gatton Honda, located in Bristol, TN, approximately 24 miles away. I was SO lucky to reach Dave Bratton in their Service Department. I explained my situation to Mr. Bratton and he said he would remain at Bill Gatton Honda until I could get a tow truck to tow my vehicle to him. As I had already received assistance from Exit 7, I called Al immediately. He came back to my location at the McDonalds and towed my vehicle to Bill Gatton Honda. When we arrived at nearly 7:30 PM, as promised, Mr. Bratton was waiting for us. A vehicle was made available for me to use until mine was repaired. On Monday Mr. Bratton called and said my Acura was ready to be picked up.
