I was really looking forward to this round, especially as it was my first time spending money on a nicer course and using a new set of clubs. Unfortunately, what should have been an exciting day was already dampened by the weather--and quickly made worse by the overall service experience. I checked in online ahead of time and selected a range bucket, only to be told upon arrival that "they don't do that on weekends." Meanwhile, someone else in my group had already been given one without issue. That kind of inconsistency set the tone right away. Things didn't improve from there. Another person in our group wasn't allowed to take a cart to pick up a teammate and was instead told they had to walk up and check in first. It felt unnecessarily rigid and not customer-friendly. At the turn, I stopped to grab a Gatorade and had one of the more bizarre customer service experiences I've had. The only thing that greeted me was a dog. Multiple employees saw me standing there--including someone from the office and even a greenskeeper who walked in, grabbed a water, and left without paying--yet no one acknowledged me. I eventually had to leave a $10 bill on the counter myself just to move on. Overall, the course itself may be nice, but the lack of basic customer service, consistency, and professionalism made this a very disappointing experience. Don't book here. They won't accommodate any tee time flexibility due to hazardous conditions like very poor air quality from the Canadian wildfires, and will lie about the air quality being fine by saying they are fully booked, when in fact, I can see on Golfnow that they are fully available. read more

Bring water as there are no water stations on the course. The beverage cart did come around often...probably 3-4 times during the whole round. The pace was about a 1-3 minute wait at times to tee off. Conditions were ok...playable at least. There are a few holes where it seemed to cross with other holes. Be aware of shots coming at ya without any warning. Some bunkers didn't even have rake so guess it's not necessary. Overall for $60-$90 a round, not a re-visit for me. Has great potential overall. Everything was amazing started to play here instead of Prince William lately as that course has really gone to shit and only offers modern membership not worth it if you want to play 1-2 a week cost you several hundreds to play. Bristow offers it all great clubhouse, clean bathrooms, great course conditions, and best of all now great annual membership options. My new favorite and just overall much better than previously cheaper Prince William county. Stonewall is my personal favorite but too expensive Bristow is the best option in the area hands down. read more

This rating is only for the golf. I couldn't recommend it more. It's a shot making course which I didn't know going in but soon learned as you hit number 2 and the hard dog legs. I would try the course again, and bring out some long irons more often. Only ding on the course was the odd horse shoe looking turf issues in the fairway. read more

Party Venue I've been to a quinceanera here as well as a wedding reception. The Quince was in the summer on a hot, hot day. The first hour was held in a house. It was hotter than hell in that place. I guess they don't have a/c in there. Then for the main event they moved into what seemed like a tent. It was a nice tent. It was nice. There were tables where people were fed, and then there was plenty of room for a dance floor and DJ. The problem I had was with the drinks. For the alcohol, they had that on ice, but the drinks for the designated drivers they didn't have on ice. It was a hot day. They'd pour a hot can of soda into a cup with ice. The ice would melt. You'd end up with half soda half water. So I asked for a soda with no ice. It wasn't warm. It was hot. I mean come on. How much does it take to put some ice in a container and cool the sodas. The next event was in the winter. Same thing. Have a meet and greet in the house and then move over into the tent. It was nice. But then again with the sodas. They had a bar. I requested a Pepsi. The person gave me what was purportedly a Pepsi, but it looked like ginger ale. I figured whatever. But it was mostly the carbonated water. How could the bartender [sic] hand that to me? I'll never know. It's a nice facility, but I just don't think the manager knows how to throw a party. read more

The couse is in wonderful shape but the SLOW PLAY ruined the day! Does ANYONE play "Ready Golf" anymore??? We played the first 9 under 2 hours but the back 9 we caught a group of 3 that started 50 minutes b4 us. All of them took multiple balls off the tees as well as the fairways. And THAT REALLY MADE OUR BLOOD BOIL!! Where is the Marshal??? Also, they charge a "Convenience Fee" for whatever reason. But nothing was a convenient! You couldn't take the cart to your car, nor close to the range. And there was only '1' Igloo water jug for 18 holes!!! Like WTF? We'll NEVER play here again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! read more

Our golf league had a 20+ year relationship with Bristow on Tuesday nights at 5. They had a guaranteed 44 golfers playing, about half paying for range tokens, about half drinking beer during and about 10+ eating food and drinking beer after the round. Bristow unceremoniously terminated our league ending a long standing relationship with the club for "financial reasons." We weren't given an opportunity to negotiate with the course to pay more than the $25 we were paying. Instead they cancelled us and now have a relationship with Spark where they're accepting $31 for a half empty league. I've asked our membership and they all have said that they would definitely have paid more to keep our relationship with Bristow. In short, the new managers that are in place do not have any business being in their positions. One is in his position because of his relationship with ownership and the other is a golf pro who has no previous management experience. We find it hard to believe that they would have turned their back on our 20+ year relationship, waved bye to guaranteed 44 players on a Tuesday night at 5, killed relationships with those 44 golfers and whomever we tell about the way we were treated. I won't ever play there and I would urge you to find courses that care about their players and charge prices that are commensurate with their geography and their conditions. It's not worth playing their for what they're charging for either reason. We've found a home at a new local golf course that is overjoyed at having us. They're charging us the same fee AND including range balls and are actually modifying their offerings to entice our players to spend time at the course after our rounds. We were surprised we were so rudely kicked to the curb by Bristow and so was our new course. They are over the moon that Bristow is so poorly run by people who don't understand human relationships and actual dollars and sense! read more

Played this course multiple times, most of the staff very friendly and a challenging course that is usually in very good condition....Today, 11/8/2024 was a different experience. The cart tender was amazing, great guy and very friendly but other than that it went downhill. Went to the first tee box, the sprinklers start going off soaking both carts and everything in them and on them. After rushing to move them both, one about 30 feet ahead and one back to the rear of a tee box to get the staffs attention. We were only met with getting yelled at to move the cart back to the path. At that point the sprinklers then were again going off in different areas and soaking the first cart that was moved out of the way initially. Cart 2 was moved ahead of all tee boxes into the rough to get out of the way of tee shots and the sprinklers to only be met with a maintenance member that came from the cart barn yelling at us to get the cart back to the cart path.....both carts soaked, everything in them soaked, wallet, phones, money, drinks, clubs, bags, etc....an altercation ensued due to what we had experienced. We finally hit our tee shots and proceed to the fairway to only be hunted down by an employee telling one of the member of our group that he is getting kicked off the course because he cursed at the maintenance guy who yelled at him for pulling his cart into the rough, mind you near a maintenance path. This maintenance person interjected himself into a situation that he didn't belong and proceeded to kick one of our parters off the course by telling on him to the pro shop. Not once did we receive an apology for the unforeseen sprinkler situation! All 3 of us were soaked, clubs and bags internally were soaked, 2 speakers soaked, wallets and phone in the carts soaked, open drinks exposed to shitty sprinkler water. Not one person on this staff apologized or offered any assistance for the situation, we were only met with being yelled at by two people on the staff to move our carts where we moved them as a result of the sprinklers hitting all of our belongings. I am a fan of this course, but this experience today and mainly by the way the staff handled the situation by making us feel like we were in the wrong by expressing our frustration resulted in us all leaving the course after only playing one shot all day! read more

My husband and I go golfing every week. I went to this golf course last week as well. Our tea time was 11:30 and we arrived before that, knowing that no one was there before our tea time. Usually, if there are no players before our tee time, the round starts a little earlier. But when we started the 1st hole, the owner came and told us to get out of there right away. Your time is 11:30. They said that we broke the rules, and we can't play here and if you want to play now, you have to pay more. It's really pointless and I'm at a loss for words. This is the first time I've been on a golf course for over 5 years. The boss is really rude and inflexible. The golf cart is also very old and dirty. We will never go here. It really messed up my day off. read more

I played 9 holes, had to leave unexpectedly, asked for a rain check and was denied, no understanding whatsoever, its the closest course from my house, although I will not play here again. Course is always backed up. They over book constantly. Took us 5 hours to play 9 holes one time out because the pro had snuck a few of his buddies in between tee times. The next time it was a 5.5 hour round. Absolutely unbelievable that they can mismanage this. Such a shame because the condition of the course is always great. This review is for the manor house, and not the golf club. We got married here 15 years ago, when the reception area was still a tent and not the permanent structure they now have. It was a fantastic wedding with wonderful employees working there. They were attentive to detail and the food they served was delicious. This year, we went back to it just to see it again, and they have made improvements and changes since we got married there. They changed the ugly maroon carpet on the stairs to be more in line with the colours of the Manor. They added 'magical' lighting on the stairway where the bride descends to the ceremony in the main room. The temporary tent outside of the manor has now been made permanent and has romantic netting an twinkle lighting on the ceiling. Very romantic! And nice that they don't have to use the portable blower heaters like they did for our wedding in November! *lol* Also, the floor has been concreted, no more walking in high heels on a slate stone floor, and there are doors that open up to a patio area for those who wish to step out for air. All of these improvements are great! It made me want to come back and do it all over again. If you're looking for a charming manor home with space for a wedding ceremony AND a reception (which they cater, so you don't have to deal with yet another party for the tables, chairs, linens and food) - In other words, if you want an all-included, romantic, historical sight for your wedding with wonderful views as you are in the country next to a golf course, then by all means, check out the Bristow Manor for your venue! read more

Horrible customer service, nice greens. We got to the tee box AT our tee time and the starter would not let us tee off because he sent the twosome we were paired with, unknown to us, off early. I argued with him for a moment; stating the obvious point that it is ridiculous to not let someone tee off when they are ON time, he apparently expects you to be there 5-10 minutes before your tee time? No mention of that when booking the tee time. It was a horrible customer experience; debating with the starter for 2-3 minutes and then being told we were not allowed to tee off and had to skip the first hole. Luckily we were able to play it at the end of the round. "Best"(worst) part, we find the twosome we were paired with in the 1st fairway and we four proceeded to sit there for another 5-10 minutes waiting for the green to clear, showing we had ample time to tee off. Be warned...there is a big creek that crisscrosses the entire front. It was OK...lots of out of bound areas. They wouldn't give us a raincheck for the back nine because it was a Groupon. read more

Unbelievably fantastic conditions! Played in the rain in May and the greens were running true all day long. The fairways were almost perfect as well. I had to compliment the manager (I think) afterwords. The course is solid but I'm not a fan of the par 5s. Three of them make you layup off the tee. Slow play, slow play, slow play. I have played this course numerous times, and while the course itself, for the most part, is good, the slow play just ruins it. You will be lucky to get in a round in less than 5 hours. We quit playing last Sunday after 14, and we'd already been there 4:45. The problems are that they try to squeeze too many people onto the course and lack sufficient marshals to make it move. Another complain on this most recent trip is that we were not notified that the greens had recently been aerated. I think that is something they should tell you either when you book the time or when you are paying for your round. The front 9 and back 9 are totally different, which is actually pleasant, as it means two different styles to play. The front is more traditional, with several holes right next to each other (keep your head on a swivel) while the back is more open, more links style to some degree. The staff, at least in the bar area, are fantastic, and it's a good place to have a drink after your round. read more

Played for the first time, was visiting area from Ohio. Course was in good condition, pace of play was ok, considering it was a Saturday morning. Layout was fair and challenging for the most part. The design of a couple of the par-5's took your driver out of play. Not a fan of par 5's that employ that type of design. I wish the reviews for the wedding venue could be separate from the golfing. My sister just had her wedding here and it was amazing! Bettina was the wedding coordinator, and she made it happen! We went into the first meeting with so many questions and worries, and wayyyy too many random decorations with no plans... and we came out feeling like it was all under control. Most importantly, the bride came out feeling that way. Wedding planning is so stressful that these things matter a great deal. Bettina just took everything and made it beautiful. She offered advice when needed. She saved the day when the veil was torn at the last minute. She patiently corralled the drunk groomsmen. It was a beautiful wedding, perfect day, and my sister was so happy! read more

The Day of Coordinator, Kaitlyn, was an absolute professional. From the way she saw our vision of the decor, to seamlessly timing the wedding itself. Nestled between expansive and beautiful sod farms and south of quaint Brentsville, Virginia, the Bristow Manor Golf Club and banquet facility was a delightful surprise as my party of 14 (to include our 93 year old matriarch hailing from Denmark) made our way along winding country roads to gather for Easter brunch, which included a pre-brunch easter egg hunt for the kids. My first time there, I was surprised at the beautiful setting: a nicely manicured lawn in front of the stately older manor home, a large but intimate banquet facility adjoining the home, and a friendly and attentive staff making sure guests' needs were met and questions answered. I felt overdressed in my blazer, khaki pants and Polo shirt, but the relaxed, informal atmosphere made me glad I was not fretting over the proper glass or silverware to use, which you would find at other, more expensive and more stodgy venues. My grandkids delighted romping around outside and scurrying about collecting not to well hidden easter eggs under the watchful eyes of the adults, who enjoyed complimentary champagne mimosas. Food was plentiful, varied, and well prepared. Justin and Wendy of the club were were terrific hosts, who clearly enjoyed making sure their guests were taken care of. Hot, fresh coffee rounded out the afternoon, and a good time was had by all. One minor complaint: handicap accessibility for our wheelchair bound mother was problematic and should be remedied - literally through a back door, passing trash bins and storage areas. Not good. All in all, a great venue for moderately priced but delicious buffet meals for holidays and special events. read more

Played this afternoon, the front 9 took 3 hours and 15 minutes to play. I play a lot of golf and I've never seen a course managed more poorly than this. We decided to leave after waiting at the 10th tee for 15 minutes. Conditions are not great either, 90 degree rule was in place and it was 85 and sunny. Dry as the Sahara. There are a bunch of holes that are roped off, no carts allowed on these holes. Forget hitting out of the sand, you'll have just as much luck hitting off the parking lot. I'd love to know what they are doing with all of the money they're making by packing thousands of people on the course at all times because they're certainly not maintaining it. Will never come back. Just an opinion, feel free to give it a try. read more

I love the layout of this course the greens are in good condition however I will never come back to this course because the people and the staff are very rude and disrespectful. The first time I came here I gave them all to benefit of the doubt assuming that perhaps they were having a bad day but after coming back two additional times it turned out that this is just the culture of this course! I honestly felt as though they did not want me to play on their course. None of the staff seem happy to work here and have made my experiences on this course uncomfortable and somewhat miserable ... today is officially my last time ever playing this course. read more

The course should be called Greedy Manor. It was playing a 5 hour 15 min round on a Saturday with upto 3 groups piled up on most tee boxes. The course has become too greedy by booking tee times 8 mins apart, a usual 10-12 min spacing allows a decent pace of play. I saw most golfers were frustrated. The course is in a decent shape though with greens a little slow and too many unfixed ball marks on the green. Hope the management pays attention. They have lost me as a customer and I'm sure I'm not alone in this feedback. read more

No starters, no rangers. Difficulty finding yardage markers. Staff in the pro shop are arrogant and dismissive. Discriminatory staff as well as patrons. I drove my family out to Bristow from DC to play 18 holes. Had an 11:20 tee time. Two Caucasian "gentlemen" had a 11:40 and a solo non-Caucasian gentleman had an 11;40 TEE TIME as well. Instead of the playing together like they should, they played separately. The Caucasian gentlemen were rude and decided to tee off before my tee time so they wouldn't have to golf with their non-party member. Needless to say, beautiful course. DIFFICULTY CALLING YOUR SHOTS AND CLUBS DUE TO POOR YARDAGE MARKERS. Doesn't take much to put stakes in the grass!!!! Or better yet. Use the GPS the carts are geared for. What are we paying for? Mind as well go to inner city Baltimore or DC for this quasi golf and premium prices. Poorly managed and still a SOUTHERN STYLE MENTALITY. We are definitely below the Mason Dixon Line and they make sure you know IT! read more

All 18 greens and 14 fairways are well maintained. I wouldn't expect anything less from the American Golf Corporation.

What's not to like about Bristow Manor! Maybe the other golfers who like the course don't rave about it online because they want to keep it a secret. A a whole, I can't think of a better public track in the greater DC area...in terms of a challenging course with great fairways and greens, excellent greens conditions, and green fees that are hard to beat than Bristow Manor Golf Club. First, I would say 4.5 but I don't have that option. Second, I consider myself a mid-level green fee golfer who enjoys a good challenge without much advance tee-time notice. The course should also be under an hour drive from inside the beltway. Bristow Manor fits the bill for me. Third, it's just my opinions. I am a public-golf guy and that's what I compare it to. Also, maybe the overall good rating was influenced by a personal good round. I've played there three times. The first time was over ten years ago and I was probably too wrapped up in my bad round to appreciate the course. I just played the other two rounds this month. Booking. Great, no issues and maybe not applicable. I used Golfnow.com because it was last minute, the evening before. Golfnow found the course based on my search criteria and saved me some money. My tee times were in their system when I arrived. I could be wrong but their fees for weekdays and weekends are very fair compare to other courses in the area. I paid $40 for Friday and $60 for Surnday with carts. You can droff off your bag or park and walk up. The parking lot is right off the road and you can just park and walk up a steps to the clubhouse. Nice. The clubhouse seems relatively small but I didn't really care because I was in to pay and out to play. The putting green was right beyond the clubhouse and the range was nearby. I didn't try either. For the limited interaction, all the folks were nice. Don (?), was especially nice as he tried to get the course ready because I was out pretty early. I just simply enjoyed my overall experience at Bristow Manor. I like relatively long courses that are challenging instead of just being flat and easy. To me, Bristow Manor is a challenging golf course in terms of distance and it has great layout with a fair share of water and other hazards. I played from the back (yellow), which is about 6,770 yards with a 139 slope. Overall, I think it's a pretty open course though. I like courses with the typical par-72 with two par-5 and two par-3 on each nine and Bristow Manor offers that. I like courses with long par-5's, they have that. Tees to greens, everything was great. I thought the green conditions were excellent given the crazy winter we just had. Kudos to the maintenance team. The course also has a nice feel of being out there with nature. Pace of play was not an issue for me. I don't remember how the old round was. Both recent times, I/we were first out. As a two-some, we finished under four hours on Friday morning. As a single, I finished just under three hours on Sunday morning. Remember, I/we were FIRST ones out. These are wish-list items and are not really mean to be negative. 1. On a number of holes, one would likely outdrive the fairways. It happened on the front par-5s and some other holes, including 17th and 18th. I should do better course-managment next time then:) Personally, I like courses with long par-5's and want to rip it down the middle somewhere and be rewarded with a fair shot at the green in two. On the front par-5's, you pretty much have to carry the creek to do that. That's not happening unless you're Daly or Bubba. I am not complaining because I couldn't get home in two on the back 5's anyway. 2. Some segments of the car paths should probably be repaired. Not a big deal. 3. I don't care much for the fairway grass type...did dislike it. Just don't care for it. There are more of them on Florida courses. If you hit it in the fairway, your ball sits up nicely, like it's teed up. 4. It would be nicer if they have center markers at 200, 150 (they do) and 100. 5. Would be nicer if they had battery carts with GPS:) Wishful. 6. The better finishing 18th green or the design of the green and its surroundings could make the approach shot more interesting. It's fair, but nothing specially. It doesn't wow you. I wouldn't know how to change it though. One thought about playing the course. If you can, carry it all the way beyond the end of the pond on no. 7, do it. You'd the right of the fairway with a better look at the green for the second shot...and a shorter short. Because cutting it across the pond to the other side of the fairway to be safe leaves a fairly long second shot with some visuals that just make it an tough shot. But make sure you can carry it or maybe you can gamble a bit and worse case end up safe, on the right side, passing the 8th green. I recommend Bristow Manor Golf without reservations and will be coming back for more. Enjoy your round! read more

I love the location of this course. The staff are awesome and the course is well kept overall. I recently returned to golf after not having played for around 12 years and I was really disappointed to see how the attire standards have slipped. Specifically, there was a guy wearing basketball shorts with a workout shirt and another guy wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants. Considering the dress code was violated as stated on the sign, I was a bit disappointed to see that they let their standards dip and lost a tradition that has been there since the beginning. This is what keeps the serious golfers coming back and gives players the impression that formalities don't matter and bleeds into lowering of etiquette standards. read more

Let me preface by saying I would give fewer stars if I could... We booked our annual family Golf Tournament in honor of our late grandfather at Bristow with expectations of having a great time, as our family always does. We were initially met with a great reception and service. We have a large family of golfers, so it naturally takes a bit of time to get through 18 holes Around hole 7 we began to be harassed by a guy from the course. He claimed that we were holding up everyone behind us, which was false. We were playing in a timely manner and did not loiter at each hole. This continued every few holes by a couple of different guys that worked there. We continued to play our holes and were very respectful of the time of other golfers and the course in general. The way we were (literally) chased down continually by their employees was ridiculous and disrespectful. They then began coming after us for our golf carts, which were rented specifically for our tournament. We were allotted 2 "rider carts" in addition to our carts for golfers. After already being harassed for a few hours, we had to let them know they needed to lay off. The team at Bristow Manor made what is normally a great experience very miserable. We will never return to this course & I suggest that no one else uses it for a tournament. This is not the way you treat any customer. read more
