Up until now, I have never had what you might call a "good" experience with work done on my LR4. It has been a nightmare, honestly. However that all changed with Marin British European. Shortly after spending $13k getting on repairs (ripped off by shop on E Francisco Blvd here in San Rafael), my beast broke down yet again. I knew if I took it back to the original shop they would undoubtedly tell me that whoever it was, it would not be related to the 3 page invoice of prior work, therefore no warranty coverage etc. Anyway I told a chance and called British R and ended up speaking to a man named Clint. I told him what was going on, adding that my AAA had run out of service calls for the year and didn't kick back in for a few weeks. He then offered to come out to my home and do a diagnostic, saving me the $200 it was going to cost me to get it towed! Never heard of that happening, have you? Anyway he came, left saying he wanted to think on it and I gave him the invoice mentioned above in case it would help him, he was back a few hours later because he had an idea and within about 30 minutes the car was fixed: the grounding wires cap had become loose, something that would never happen on its own. Meaning, they were not tightened properly. Clint was so gracious and clearly knows his stuff. Coming out on a weekend? That is above and beyond and the fee? Minimal. The car did have to go to the shop so that they could take a more thorough look but it was included in the fee above. Bottom line: look no further for your British (don't know if they do other European ) car care needs. Will not be going anywhere else! read more

My 88 D90 was making some abnormal noises (squeaks and metallic rattles) which were worrying me. After speaking with the people at British Car Repairs I was able to set up a diagnostic appointment with Clint where we went on a test drive to recreate the noises followed by putting my truck on the rack to take a look underneath. Clint, Dan, and the rest of the staff at this shop are as good as it gets. I have owned my Triumph TR6 since 1981 and am mechanically inclined enough to know when I am getting a line of BS. I am new to the area and these folks were recommended to me and I am glad I went. Clint tuned the TR to run the best it ever has. Low speed idle is right on and it is easy to pull away from a dead stop now. I took my jag to this guy and after spending thousands of dollars on the car it had to be towed away and when I got home I found that the water drain plug was changed to some cheap part . this part I repaired myself and was a beautiful brass piece that was original to this classic Jaguar. I called him on it and of course he denied stealing it . And just recently I was working on the carbs an drealized my beautiful su carbs that I rebuilt where off some other car . what the#@#$%%%@#. After having the prior shop, on my side of Bay, attempt to fleece me for 4k, I had my beloved Saab towed 63 miles from where I live to have it worked on by Dan and it was very much worth it. Dan pointed out the true source of my car's issues and clearly explained potential issues I might face with my turbocharger in the future and made me aware of the risks. Some mechanics will treat you like an idiot and try to scam you, but Dan treated me like an adult and he did right by me. Clint and his team are tremendously nice people to deal with. Being an owner of a Range Rover that isn't under warranty puts one in a position where they should like their repair shop as they will spend more time and money than desired. That said, I brought my 05 RR to Clint based on the reviews on yelp. The service requested was a full inspection as the car was an eBay purchase. The problems that I identified when dropping off the truck were addressed, but here is what was missed. -Non-functioning Rear Passenger Window -Headlight Ballasts wired directly into the fuel pump fuse...which recently fried the pump ($1k+ repair at another shop) -Rear door bolts loose triggering the doors to make a loud popping noise...this took me 2 minutes to repair once I realized no special tool was required. You don't know what you don't know, so there may be more. I will likely soon pay to have a second full inspection with another shop. Finally, there was little attempt to clean grease/oil from the passenger areas after the work was performed. I am a disappointed with the experience, but I appear to be the exception, not the rule. read more

I bought a 1971 MBG a few months back and brought it to Ed and his team for a tuneup and overall looking over. I really liked Ed and his team and when I went to get the car back he told me what they did and what they found but could wait to be replaced on the car. He gave a thorough overview of the car and I walked away very happy. On a side note, he also runs a very clean shop. I have belief that a clean shop shows organization and typically people who are organized do good work. Ed and his team do good work plain and simple. Costs were very reasonable too. I bought a 1979 MGB and had some instant regrets after getting it home. I knew it would need restoration but didn't expect to spend so much on the front end so soon after buying it. It barely got home it ran so badly then it died in the parking lot. I thought it was in better shape than it is, or was? I had it towed not knowing who or what this shop would do for this car. An update to my April review: Last month, my aging land rover died just shy of Greenbrae with my two dogs (200lbs), bags of groceries and me in the car. (There was a loose wire creating a drain on my new battery, which has been resolved.) Was completely panicked as I live in Mill Valley and had no way to get my dogs and me back to home (no tow truck will tow animals in cars and Uber won't take pets). Called Clint, who sent one of his great staff to my location and replaced my drained battery with a new one, allowing me to drive home, offload my canines and then drive my car back to his shop. After thanking him profusely for going out of his way to help me, his response to me was the following: "I just imagined if it was my wife who was stranded like you were." Enough said.
