Holy cow this place is delicious. It's almost custom made for drunken college kid, but this sober past-college aged kid enjoyed it nonetheless. I had the small Stretch, which was a plate of eggs and chili and hash browns and who knows what else, all in a big pile. Delicious with some hot sauce on it. So my memories are less than perfect about exactly what I ate most of the time, though burgers and the stretch both stick out at different occasions. It's a drunk dive, for sure, and worth every penny you spend (though it's never expensive). Really great portions and tasty food. I had the blueberry pancake with the little special they have that gives you a biscuit and gravy and an egg and sausage casserole. The pancake was delicious, the gravy was phenomenal, but I thought the biscuit was dry. The casserole was also kind of strange. I thought it would be this interesting thing but it was just scrambled eggs with sausage baked in a dish. Nothing extraordinary about it. Came here to get a diner breakfast. Just good, ol'fashioned breakfast food. I went on a Wednesday mid-morning and this place was packed! It conveniently has a lot for parking outside. The diner itself is pretty small inside, but I managed to snag a seat at the counter. I had the cheese and veggie omelette, which was good, and not over-done with the cheese, the way diner omelettes sometimes are. They were awesome about keeping my coffee cup filled. Cute little place. Only seats 50 and the booths were filled most of the time we were there. We stopped for supper, but noticed everyone around us was eating breakfast. Even so, I had a Reuben and husband had a club sandwich. His sandwich was HUGE--lots of meat. He said it was the first club sandwich he's eaten where the meat was heated, they're usually served cold. But he loved it just the same. Our waitress was very attentive (she must have topped off my water glass 6 or 8 times), even tho she was the only server there. We left her a 40% tip, she was so sweet! I went to see for myself and find out what the hoopla was all about. I got the dish and I must say its very good and very filling and very affordable! I wish that this place was in KC. As a Jayhawker, I was very happy that I left my coat in the car to experience this excellent diner. The waitress was a peach (see... now my southern side is coming out) and my food was very delicious. I ordered an omelette with hash browns and coffee. The omelette was perfectly cooked and had a good size to it. The hash browns and coffee were excellent as well. I left with a full belly and was shocked at the bill. $7 dollars? Yes, please! This is my second trip back to Columbia. I returned to this diner after having a positive first experience. I decided to try the hamburger and fries instead of the breakfast. The waitress served undercooked fries that were white. After I requested that the fries be fully cooked, the waitress just grabbed the plate off of my table in a rude and rough manner without saying a word. A few moments later, she again dumped my plate back that had the hamburger on it in a rude and rough manner. I received the fries back which were now cooked correctly and they tasted good. The hamburger was not good which I found disappointing especially for a diner. After the rude treatment, I doubt that I will return to this establishment. read more

I have grown up in Columbia and frequented the Broadway Diner for years. I recently have suffered health setbacks leaving me disabled and on this visit recovering from surgery with no means to cook for myself. I thought no problem I have to get my medications filled I would order breakfast and pick it up. The person who answered the phone told me they don't deliver I tried to explain it was for pick up and was told very bluntly we do not do pick ups on weekends. No concern for the customer and no time to even let me talk to to a manager. Broadway Diner has lost a lifetime customer and future family of customers. If you can't offer advertised services then you should get out of the business. Let alone learn how to treat the elderly and the disabled! read more
