Such a cool atmosphere and so much history--our waitress told us it used to be an 1800s hotel! Now it's offices upstairs and a bar/restaurant downstairs. We ordered the Bavarian pretzels with mixed queso (spicy and not spicy) on recommendation and were not disappointed. Pretzels were soft, buttery, and yum. We split the Underground Burger with house chips--burger was juicy and flavorful, and the chips were so good I could've made a meal out of them. We were headed to Jefferson City from Hannibal to spend time with the hubs daughter. They had been to 1851 and wanted us to try it, so we met them there. Cool vibe with the dark wood, brick and exposed floor joists. Plenty of seating, nice bar area and a game room with pool tables. I was very intrigued by the Guacamole Wontons and who doesn't love fresh pork rinds. The wontons were delicious and creamy with a very good sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Menu says they are fried, but they almost seemed baked and were not greasy at all. I was pleasantly surprised. The pork rinds are called cracklin'... and they are cracklin' still when they get to the table. Hubs had the 1851 burger with bacon and pulled pork. The pork was done very well. The onion rings were some of the best we've had in a while and there were a ton.of them. I got the swiss burger which was delicious and cheesy with a ton of really good fries. Our server was great and took good care of us. We were very happy with the recommendation. read more

About 25 of us were out enjoying the nice January weather, riding motorcycles through Fulton and stopped in the 1851 Grill. There was a bunch of us, but Heather got us in and out in a jif! The food was great, the service even better. This is also a pretty cool place to grab a beer, just not when we're on the bikes. read more

We first noticed how beautiful the restaurant is and clean. The bar was big and busy. We were quickly greeted and sat down. The service was very friendly and when we said it was our first time there, she explained some of the history. I had a beer on tap and she a mixed drink. Both were very good. I had the 1851 burger with pulled pork on top. It was amazing. The burger was very juicy and so flavorful. The onion rings were also very good. My wife said her grilled Buffalo chicken sandwich was one of the juiciest chicken sandwiches ever. Thank you everyone at 1851 for a great meal. 4 guys took a road trip to see the Winston Churchill museum... yeah, we're pretty cool... and stopped here afterward. A very cool locale... looks like a fun place to hang out and drink some beers. Beer selection extensive and some good-looking burgers. I myself ordered a chicken & waffles special which was ok. Not sure if I'll ever be back in Fulton, MO, but if I am, there's a good chance I'll return to the 1851. read more

This place is not fancy but it is comfortable. It's July in Missouri so tomatoes are at their peak. We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and one of the specials was a tomato sandwich! I loved making these with Wonder Bread with a Big Boy tomato plucked one of our vines. This sandwich consists of a stack of red and yellow maters with sprouts between 2 slices of grilled sourdough bread! Mayo is on the slices so it's a perfect sandwich. The service was good and the price was reasonable. Fulton is a nice town too. If we get back out here we will return. read more

Forgot to take a picture of the huge portion size but the Baja fish tacos came with THREE. The Black and Bleu burger was SO DELISH with its blackened seasoning, however we got not Bleu cheese because who likes that... the fries we amazing too! Server/service was awesome And she was the only one rockin the whole place. You will NOT regret coming here. Such a cool ambiance being in the basement with all the brick and wooden tables. Decent food and serving size but service was horrendous. Took 20 minutes after getting water for a server, even to take our order.

The Baja Fish Tacos are just the best. Margaritas are quite good with a great choice of flavors. Two of us had mango (one frozen and one on the rocks). A nice choice of beers. Their burgers are quite good, recommend ordering them medium. They have many choices of burgers, which I have tried in the past. Really like their homemade chips, as long as they are not overcooked. Our server was on point and very friendly and attentive. They do take reservations, which I recommend on weekends as they can fill up quickly after 6. I always return when I am craving those fish tacos. My sister-in-law says they are the best she's ever had. read more

Our first time here and it was wonderful! We played golf in 90 degree heat and was looking for a cool spot for cocktails and food. This place has rock walls and looks amazing. Went to the Westminster College Museum with the Churchill display. Loved it. Came out hungry and Yelp suggested your business. The food is excellent. They only had one waitress and she did an excellent job. The gentleman bringing the food out helped her and once our order was in, it came out quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant. This place itself has been around almost since Fulton was on the map. Back in the day it was a part of the old Palace Hotel. It was called the Tap Room for many many years.Then Judy opened it up and it became a place where the college kids hung out as well as a local watering hole. So now it's under at least it's 5th owner and not like it was back on the day. They don't have music there anymore. They have tried to keep it as just a family restaurant. The food is good but not the best around. We go from time to time but not that often. I'm not call it bad but there is a bit of history to it. They also have kept one pool table in there as well. read more

I was in Fulton with my son for a college visit and popped into this place for lunch. Very cool atmosphere, in the "cellar" of an old building downtown. Bar type setting, pool tables and a nice sitting area. He got a burger, I had a chicken sandwich. Both were good, we enjoyed our choices. Service was great. I'd go back, for sure. read more

I was in Fulton for my work and used yelp to help find this joint. The the other review said this is a solid bar. he is right Concrete floors, wooden bartops everwhere, built in tables and brick or stone walls. great looking bar. clasic rock playing in background. service was great. one bartender did it all but she was good. I ordered the fiesta burger with fries ( they serve lots of tries) the burger was good. the pico was fresh. jalapenos was fresh and spicy. I will return when I am back in Fulton. read more

Solid bar that serves food. Place was literally empty at 6PM on a Tuesday, but with some of the drink specials I bet it picks up later. Food was above average, had the "fire and ice" chicken sandwich...good flavor and done quick. Bartender (who may have also been the cook since he disappeared while our meal was being made) was extremely attentive and never let our soft drinks below the halfway point before he was backfilling them up. read more
