The Broadway Diner is without a doubt the best place in Columbia for breakfast. I've been to just about every other breakfast eatery in town and none of them can beat Broadway. It's nothing fancy for sure, but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is like something out of a movie. It is the iconic diner every city needs to have. I haven't been here for anything other than breakfast so far, but everything I've had for my morning meal has been delicious. If you stop in be sure to try Mark's Dilemma. They're very willing to customize your meal, so don't be afraid to ask for changes. The venue is pretty small and if you come at peak eating hours expect a good wait. Love the old diner feel. We went for breakfast. B&G were awesome, eggs and hash browns good too. Not a big fan of the sausage but could be a preference thing. Everyone is extremely nice and makes you feel like it's a small town diner. Our waitress took our daughter to pick out a toy to play with to occupy her. I couldn't rave enough about this place. I have been here several times and I have never been disappointed. I usually get the biscuits and gravy, which are to die for! My mother is quite picky on her B&G, but even she loved them! I like my hashbrowns with some crunch, so I order them extra crunchy. They come out perfectly every time. They also have a double bacon cheeseburger on a donut bun. It sounds bizarre but tastes AMAZING! It was the perfect combination between breakfast and dinner. The burger was quite large, so my boyfriend and I split it. This is an awesome little diner. I was a little unsure because of the previous reviews but it's really a great breakfast place. As soon as I got there I was greeted by a nice woman behind the counter. She said the wait would be a couple minutes. I ended up waiting a minute or two before a couple spots opened up at the counter. They took my order and the food was there in less than 10 minutes, and it was delicious! All the staff were very nice and it had a kind of homey feel to it. Unfortunately I'm only visiting in Columbia so I can't come here often but it's definitely one of my favorite restaurants now! Also, it's a fairly small diner so you can see most of the kitchen for any of those people that like to see how their food is made. I wouldn't say it's good for groups but you could try. I dare argue that there is no better place in Columbia to satisfy that after-bar-close hunger (unless you're feeling like Mexican). The Broadway staff are patient as saints after midnight and deliver salvation on a plate in the form of sugary pancakes, and piles of egg/veggie/cheese/gravy/meat concoctions. Best place ever. I had the coop. It was a brisket with Mac n cheese, I usually try to avoid weird things like that but it was the best thing I ever had. My dad had them jimmy and he said he enjoyed it. We split the apple pie which was amazing. Our server was amazing at this mom and pop diner. I wanted to like this more than I did. Nice employees but the food was ordinary. I had a Matt's stretch and everything on it was ordinary. It tasted like frozen unseasoned hash browns, chili from a can, gravy from a mix and pre shredded cheese. I was expecting sausage crumbles over all but perhaps read the menu wrong. When I am eating that poorly, I want it to taste great! My husband's Frisco burger was ok, crisp bacon but potato chips and an extra 1.99 for fries? This Place is Awesome! First of all, came in here on a Friday morning around 11:00am and every seat in the joint was filled. Was met with a friendly face upon arrival and was seated shortly. I ordered the Diner Eggs Bene and I have to tell you it is a must order. Sausage patty with, eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage gravy all on top of a perfectly toasted English muffin. It was fun eating there. It's a great place to film a movie and the staff was friendly. I felt queasy at first when I saw how much oil went into the hash browns but they weren't greasy at all (I should have asked for extra crispy).
