We recently went to Century DOCO and XD for a kid's birthday party, and overall it ended up being a mix of some really nice moments and some disappointing ones, especially for the host. The biggest issue was the party room setup. Unfortunately when we got there, the room wasn't ready. There were no plates, utensils, napkins, or juices set out for the kids, and it honestly felt like there wasn't an assigned attendant checking in on the room. My friend had actually chosen this location because she previously hosted another birthday party here for her older daughter and had an amazing experience with decorations and an attentive party host, so this visit felt very different from what she expected. Once it was time for the movie though, things definitely improved. Someone came in and took all the kids' snack orders, and the kids loved getting their popcorn and Slurpees. That part felt much smoother and more organized. I also appreciated how clean everything was. The restrooms and theater itself were very well maintained, which always stands out to me in busy movie theaters. The heated seats were also a nice touch. They weren't overly warm, but you could definitely feel a little heat on your back which made the theater feel extra cozy. Another plus was the drink selection. There were plenty of options for both kids and adults, which made everyone happy. Helpful tip: If you're booking a birthday party here, it might be worth confirming the party room setup details again the day of just to make sure everything is ready when you arrive. Who designed this place and thought, "Yes, this is comfortable"? There isn't even a bathroom upstairs, which means constant trips up and down the stairs. At 34 weeks pregnant, that's not an inconvenient, it's torture. The seats are somehow even worse. They only recline halfway because there are bars behind every row. Had I known that before buying tickets, I would have stayed home. Spending hours trapped in a barely reclining seat while heavily pregnant is miserable. It feels like sitting in an old theater from the 90s that never got updated. Zero comfort. Zero consideration. My back hurts just thinking about it. read more

Decided to take myself out for the movies and bought tickets to see "Reminders of Him." Overall this is a movie theater. The service is good, popcorn is good, soda is good, where I sat was perfect (C7) I can't complain about this theater. It's nothing spectacular, but I would come back. read more

The theater was cold but clean, the staff was amazing, and the cashier who checked us in was super nice and reminded us about validation. Nice theater in the DOCO entertainment area. Parking is in the West parking structure and if you tell the attendant as you enter the parking that you are coming for the movie theater, they will direct you properly and you can then have your parking validated at the theater. Our theater had the nice clean reclining seats. We came on a Friday early afternoon so the matinee price was so much better than regular price. Made for a good afternoon. Only negative for me was that the carpets are terribly worn and stained. But, once in the actual theater it's ok. read more

There was some confusion about utilizing the Cinemark cache and the worker did not know how to help me do it. I ended up paying out of pocket when I had Cinemark cash. The employees were not knowledgeable and when I connected to customer service they were not able to compensate me. I will no longer be getting Cinemark cash. I stopped in for a movie with some friends and we purchased tickets online ahead of time. Upon arrival we scanned our tickets and the friendly person who scanned us asked if we needed parking validation right away. We stopped at the concessions and got an XL popcorn, some Red Vines, and a Small Slushie. It came to around $22 and I tipped on top of that. It seemed fair for what I expect movie concessions to cost and the XL popcorn has the option for a refill. While I didn't finish the popcorn they were kind enough to top it off before I left and my husband was happy to receive it after my girl's night out. We were in one of the upstairs theaters and these have the reclining chairs that are padded and I noticed that they have cup holders built into the seats and into the armrests (so you can opt to have the armrests up or down). The rows also have enough space that people can pass in front of a reclined chair with no issues. The movie experience was great, the screen and audio was as it should be and we enjoyed our seats, snacks and drinks. On the way out we visited the restroom, which was clean and had plenty of stalls. My husband and I can to watch Crime 101. Wr can early so we knew it wasn't going to be packed. We ordered the Combo 1 which included large popcorn, large soda and candy for $21 plus we tipped $3. The cashier was friendly and nice. She greeted us with a smile and said hi. After we paid she said enjoy your movie and when we left she says I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Super sweet! A few things to be aware of: Parking is limited to the parking garage below the mall. Its located on the 2nd story of the outdoor mall, so plan to be out in the weather. The last two theaters we visited had either a broken footrest, stinky headrest or ripped/peeled armrests. This one is well kept. Their popcorn is fresh and they even have a spot to pump extra butter. We went for the first screening to get the early bird discount. We got there early so we could buy the tickets in person to save the processing fee. We arrived at 8:45 for the 9:30 seating. We were surprised to learn that they don't open till 9:15am. We walked around for a bit and returned at 9:15am. Just note that nothing is open at that hour. As it turns out 9:15am was plenty of time to buy tickets and get to our seats. We got seats to the side and near the back. I didn't want to be too close or behind someone. We had perfect seats. The seats recline. The seats are extra large and the arm rests raise up. Our theater was at the lower level. We took the escalator down and passed the downstairs restroom and another concession stand. The concession stand was closed when we arrived, but appeared to be opening when we left. The movie was fantastic. We weren't too close to the screen and even though we picked some seats off center they were perfect. The sound was at a good volume. Not too loud or quiet. I came here to watch a movie for the first time, and unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience. I accidentally purchased child tickets instead of adult ones, and when the worker scanned them, she immediately became very angry. She told me how ridiculous that was and even said I was lucky she didn't kick me out without a refund. It was a genuine mistake, but her attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. Accidents happen, and the way she handled it was completely unnecessary. I wish I had gotten her name because no guest deserves to be spoken to like that. It's really disappointing because I actually liked the setup of the theater, going down the escalators to get to the rooms is pretty cool, and it's very spacious inside. But after this experience, I don't think I'll be coming back to this location. Overall I give it 3 stars because it does seem like a nice location just not very great service read more

Prime location in DOCO [Sacramento CA] This was my first time watching a movie at this theater. I didn't even know its location, only that there was a Cinemark in DOCO. I come to DOCO for Kings games but have not even noticed this theater. Oh, it's right there across Macy's up the escalator on the 2nd floor. On the evening we went (Friday night) Sacramento has been slammed with lots of rain but neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night can keep these movie goers away from watching a good movie --- the theater was busy and our movie house #2 for Wicked was a full house... well, maybe because it was first day showing in theaters. Employees were friendly from the ticket counter to the concession stand. The popcorn was yummy with the right amount of butter (we wanted lots of butter). The theater has two levels. The seats were comfortable with reclining features. There is a cup holder but no tray tables. It was a bit warm inside our movie house. Bathrooms are one each for men and for women and located on the first level. Cinemark offers parking validation, as most retailers in the complex do (with purchase), they range from 1 - 3 hour validations. I can't remember how many hours the theater validated our ticket. I love Cinemark theaters but driving to DOCO for movies is a bit of a hassle and distant for me plus having to do the parking thing... my preference would be just to stay local. I actually really like this location. You can park in the parking garage and get your ticket validated - so free parking. I like that this location has 2 stories even though they only have 1 bathroom which is located on the 1st floor. Snacks and drinks are the same as the other Century locations, but since it is located in DOCO, there are plenty of options for food either before or after your movie. Seats recline and are pretty comfortable. I just wish they had the food trays too. The staff is always friendly and interested in what movie we are seeing. I love this place and it's the theatre I go to when seeing a movie. I just stopped in to get a large popcorn on this beautiful sunny day, no movie, and I had to share how nice and accommodating the young lady at the snack counter was! I didn't catch her name but she was working at 230p today! (3/4) she was so kind and helpful when I told her not to fill it up too high because I was going to walk home with it, she offered me a bag! Not only did she put my popcorn in a bag she put some napkins and a couple 'boats' in there with it! It really made my day and I had to express my gratitude for her and her kindness! It's a great place to catch a movie. They have an extensive concessions stand offering everything from the classics to pizza and beer. They validate parking for 4 hours which is usually enough time to grab dinner and a movie at DOCO. The seats are very comfortable and even have seat warmers. The bathrooms could use more frequent attention. read more

Really love that Century was able to keep this theater in the heart of downtown open. It's been around long before DOCO was a thing. I remember being a young kid coming here with friends and now I am dropping my 13 year old off with his friends. The staff here does a great job of keeping the theaters, bathrooms and lobby area clean. The concessions run smooth and the popcorn is always perfect! When I'm not doing sober October or Dry January I love ordering the slushies with alcohol. Just 1 of them will get you right lol. My son loves the icee's here as well. Have been a few times over the past year or so, the two most recent visits were for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Discount Day ($5.50-$6.00 pricing) and this past weekend for Taylor Swift: Eras Tour ($19.89+$1.85 fee per ticket). I needed to get a refund once recently too and it was very simple and quick! Purchased advanced tickets on the Cinemark app; Movie Club members could also get 20% off snacks and mobile ordering option, for it to be delivered right to your seat or made fresh when you arrive. Easy to show barcode to pick up tickets. Not really too busy of a line for concessions, popcorn, soda, Icee, etc. The mini churros did take a minute to make fresh and was a tiny bit of a wait. Specifically for Taylor Swift: Eras Tour showings starting 10/13, they also had collectible metallic exclusive foil design cups and popcorn tubs available only in theaters, $9.00 for the cup and $10.00 for the popcorn tub. The Cinemark order confirmation email suggested the 414 J Street (DOCO Central) garage, which is shared with Golden 1 Center and the day of, that garage had a sign saying "No Arena Parking" as a Sacramento Kings Fan Fest was also going on. I decided to try the DOCO West Garage (325 L Street) instead but street closures for the G1C event (and protesters for Palestine near the capitol) did make this a big headache. Once at the DOCO West Garage, Cinemark is accessible from the 4th-floor walkway (elevator too). Parking was validated at the theater ticket taker, and you still pay before leaving the garage. So, we were in row E, centered, but as a short person even before reclining, the top of the seat in front of me did obscure the bottom-most portion of the screen. Now, as for folks raising their hands or holding up phone lights for that concert vibe, not a big deal due to the size of the screen overall. Thankfully this wasn't a movie that had necessary subtitles or anything like that, but keep that in mind. There is enough room to still get by in front of people in your row even if they're fully reclined. Also, if you wanted to stand up and dance/sing along there was space for that too. This is my go to theater. The movies are not extensive but it's a close theater to me so I go here. I watched Anaconda on Christmas Day at this theater. It wasn't too crowded. There is a parking garage that validated for either 3 or 4 hours by the theater. The Golden 1 arena and shops are super close. All the restaurants are at the other end of the arena. read more

This theater is a great option for those that live in the downtown/midtown area and has been my go-to for the past decade. One of my favorite things about living in this area is the ability to walk to the movies. Even if you don't live in the area, this is a great place to catch a flick. The site has gone through some changes over the years and they have done a great job with the upgrades and maintaining the cleanliness of the theater. Kudos to the staff for keeping this theater clean on a consistent basis. The XD auditorium is awesome and a great experience for the high profile new releases and all of the chairs work great with their reclining and heating elements. The location is nice for date nights especially if you want to get into something else before or after your movie. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in close proximity, as well as things to do in Old Sacramento. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if there is an event at Golden One Center so be sure to check out what is happening in the area when looking at show times. read more

I came to watch the new Captain America movie and was pleasantly surprised by the renovated recliner chairs, very comfy and spacious. After some quality salesmanship, (friendly, but not too pushy) from their staff at the concession stand, we sprung for the merch cup, which is one of the nicest I've got. Always appreciate the parking validation - which makes it free too. Sound was good, not too loud either. The 2 things I took off 1 star was structure & logistics. Concession stands are on the main floor, straws, and butter etc, so had to go up and downatairs a few times, also because the screens are on the second floor I could feel the floor move/vibrate a few times. read more

A bunch of us came recently this past Sunday to see the special showing of "CASABLANCA". This film - and the classics that are scheduled - are wonderful to see featured back in the mix of theater-going. Have you ever watched a classic from the past and just WISHED you could have seen in back in the days when it was released on the silver screen? Thanks to Fathom Events, you don't have to imagine - you can actually see it! (2) Stress-Free Refunds! I am sure many times you find yourself in the same position where you bought more tickets for a group (just to be on the safe side) but didn't end up needing all those extra tickets. But hey, I'm a guy living on a budget, and tickets at $12.50 a pop, not being able to get the value of 2-4 of those tickets would just be a sad waste. Yet what a nice surprise it is when the front register staff are able to give me hassle-free refunds on the tickets I had gotten. And a mere day later, I already see the refunds on my credit card account! I went to see Wicked with my wife on one of our few movie dates of the year. While we were getting situated, the armrest fell and crushed the beer my wife had just ordered. Not only did the manager see me dripping beer and throw it away so I stopped dripping it all over the floor and stop making a mess, but he got someone help to clean up the beer covered seat in the theatre. My wife was given another beer once they replaced the keg. I never make a scene and was worried that they wouldn't replace the spilled beer but they went above and beyond. Will come here for all future movie dates. read more
