I hired Brockman Tree and Lawn Care to do a lawn program. The machine they use to apply the fertilizer and weed control is heavy, and I have sandy soil. They go fast on it, and it tears up the lawn where they turn. I called and asked if they could go slower, as it doesn't do that when they take more time. I finally cancelled my service as it was hit or miss if they followed the request. The last time they came, there were at least 20 spots that needed repair. I cancelled my service. They said they would come to repair the damaged spots. I initially agreed but reconsidered since it is July and all the spots would need to be watered frequently to encourage seed growth at this time of year. I told them I was all good and I would repair the grass in the fall. They ignored that request and texted me to tell me they were coming today. I texted them back to say I didn't want them to come because of the watering issue. They came anyway and put down soil and grass seed. The soil had a lot of rocks in it, so now my lawn needs to be watered, AND I had to spend over an hour cleaning up all the rocks in my yard. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this company. I hire contractors to make my life easier and save me time. They create more work for me every time they come here. read more

I'm extremely impressed with this company. I have been trying to get my lawn in better shape for 14 years and it's always a hot mess no matter what I do. My neighbor whose lawn looks gorgeous recommended Brockman to me. After ONE application, my lawn looks the best it ever has! I hardly have any weeds left and zero crabgrass after trying to fix these problems for years! I also want to add that they are very responsive and affordable. The day of the application they give you a call and text you to notify you. If you have any questions or requests, you text them back and they respond fairly quickly! This is the first time we did a contract with Brockman. We are pleased with their service and have referred them to numerous people.

I am contracted to get weekly service. They often don't show up during the week. When I call, there is always an excuse why they didn't come. Then, when they come for a make up day, usually 3-4 days later, they then will claim that the make up day is the date they use to schedule our next service, not the day they SHOULD have been here. Simply, they will find anyway to provide as little actual service as possible. The person who answers their phone has always promised to have a "mowing supervisor" call me, who never has. When I call back to inquire why that person never called, I am told, "I cant make him call you". Crazy how anyone can do business this way! DONT SIGN A CONTRACT! read more

Do not use Brockman unless you want them to destroy your lawn when performing services you did not actually schedule. Scummy practices, and no regard at all for the health of your lawn. I first contacted Brockman to have my lawn aerated in the fall of 2020, as I was doing a bit of a renovation and I wanted to aerate before I dethatched, top dressed, and over seeded. I was on the schedule for that fall. Fast forward to early September, no aeration performed yet and I had not heard from them at all. I reached out to them as I wanted to get seed down and have enough time for it to grow enough before the frost, and the response was something along the lines of "we'll get to it when we get to it, we stop when the weather no longer allows us to perform". This was worrisome, but it was too late to contact any other company. More time passed, we were into the middle of September, and temperatures were dropping. I reached out again and received the same response back. I was starting to get really worried that I would not even be able to over seed at this point. Finally, on September 23, the aeration was performed. I was able to over seed, but the result was not as successful as if I was able to start a couple weeks earlier. In any case, I was not completely happy with the service and I had no intention of using Brockman again. Fast forward to fall of 2021, I skipped aeration and over seeded in early September. Grass was growing and the lawn was filling up nicely. On October 22, Brockman showed up and aerated my lawn...I did not schedule this. Besides October 22 being way too late to perform something like this, it ruined most of my new grass that came in. On top of that, it had rained the day before, and the ground was extremely soft and wet -- so the heavy machinery being driven on my lawn absolutely destroyed a lot of it, leaving a ton of bare patches now that I will have to fill in. I immediately reached out to them, asked why this was even performed in the first place, and was told that aeration was an auto-renewing service -- but I was never made aware of that when I scheduled it in 2020. I was also told that their boss was out of town, and that I would receive a call first thing Monday morning to "make things right"...never heard back. So unless that sounds like a good time to you, do not use Brockman. read more

Aa others have mentioned not a great customer experience. Took 6 months after prepaying for a bush removal for them to come out and do it, after multiple calls. They aerated my driveway and caused some damage. Refused to give me notice when they were coming so I could prep the yard with a mow or even pick up dog doo. THESE GUYS FLOODED MY BASEMENT! Don't let them on your property! I hired them to redo the lawn at my rental property. They said I needed to water the grass twice each day and suggested purchasing a timed sprinkler system. They set up for $100. Each week they mowed the lawn. Then I receive a call from the tenant. The Brockman employee who came to mow the lawn, took out the sprinkler system, WITHOUT TURNING IT OFF, and threw it in the basement window well (why?). After mowing, he left without setting it up again! The timer turned on the sprinkler and flooded the basement. The owner apologized for the "accident"! This was NO accident, just unprofessional work, poor training and a lack of supervision! read more

Just started using these guys for lawn care and I'm already impressed. Filled out a form online and they sent someone out to inspect the lawn and give us a personalized program specific to our lawn. I haven't had a lawn service in about six years and Brockman's prices were very competitive to what I was paying then and they didn't give me the hard sell that their competitors did (and still do!). So far we are very pleased and have a few other projects lined up for them. Glad to support a local business too. read more

This is the second year we have used Brockman Tree & Lawn Care for snowplowing and I couldn't imagine using anyone else. Upstate, NY winters can be brutal and they are professional, personable and do a GREAT job! This company keeps us posted of their plowing progress regardless of whether we get 3 inches of snow or much, much more. At the end of the season they come back and repair any lawn damage their plows may have caused at no extra charge. They do whatever it takes to do the job right and their customer service is top notch! read more

I tried their service last year was very disappointed with the results. The crew was more intrested in finishing the job as soon as possible verses taking the time to do the job corectly. We have a small hill om sid of the house that is mostly weeds. When we canceled the service a representative came by he agreed their was a lot of weeds but said it was due to the mild winter. Terrible plow service. I am now 6 months pregnant and need to be out of the house by 7am on most days due to my work schedule. They have never been here before 9am and don't seem to care about my physical restrictions with pregnancy (which they are aware of because we have called twice to complain about their service and told them about my inability to shovel due to pregnancy). I live on a busy road but have a very small driveway that should only take two seconds to plow. They also have dug up the yard while plowing. Would never use there service again if they were the only service available. BEWARE SENT US DEBT COLLECTION AFTER WE PAID. Unproffessional,unorganized, overbooked, dishonest and rude. Had them come to take down trees and shrubs, remove stumps, and plant grass. I asked them to let me know when they were coming because I wanted to keep some plants and wanted to let them know which plants before they started clearing. They showed up one day out of the vlue luckily my parents were staying with me or I would have never known they arrived because I was at work. They started before I arrived home and took out some bushes I would have kept. The next was the stump removal on a different day weeks later that a different company showed up and told us we owed more money because it was more stumps then what they were told, which we told them we were given an all inclusive price and were also contracted with a completely different company so they would need to contact Brockman. They tried and just hung out at out house for about an hour because they could not get ahold of Brockman. Eventually the company did remove the stumps that day but Brockman never contacted us asking for more money for additional stumps so I thought we were covered. After the stumps were removed the lawn looked in terrible shape with large holes and stump piles next to each of them which was fine because I thought they would come clean it up in a week or so. NO. At least four weeks later I started to try to get ahold of Brockman to ask when they would come because they had been soo long, they gave me the run around I had to contact this specific person on his cell phone which I immediately called and left a message. He called me back a few days later yelling at me that I w had ignited numerous calls from him asking for more money and wouldn't pay him for the addition stumps and that they would not continue without additional money. I told him I never heard anything from them asking for additional fee and he had my email and cell phone number he could have called I knew because the office had no problem calling and emailing me for the first payment. He continued to yell at me that I was dodging him. My husband called back and he was cordial and said he needed more money to proceed which we had no problem paying for because it was more stumps than listed and we thought maybe it was a misunderstanding but then he said they could not get out for a few more weeks because they were booked up even though we had waited weeks. By then it was late September maybe early October and the ground could frost and they needed to plant grass seed which could die at this point. They didn't come for weeks after with one excuse or another about rain etc which we had plenty of nice days in a row. They were just over booked which is why they contracted out the stumps. FINALLY they came and it frosted the same week. Who knows if the grass will make it in the spring it still looks like a mud pile. They also used our hose and broke it, we have it caught on our nest camera system. They only refunded us half the cost but we wanted to be done with them. Cherry on top of the cake they sent us a notice from a debt collection service after we paid them!! We were waiting for a revised bill with the $30 less and we finally got it after the holidays that said we had until end of January to pay. Which I paid, then I recieved the debt collection warning in the mail. This company is unprofessional and unorganized. I would never use them again and I wished I never did. Who knows what my lawn will look like come Spring. read more

The office personnel were rude on more then one occasion when we called and this season (2018) they never got around to doing the first lawn application because they were already behind in services and it was only early May. The quality of the work was good, but I was annoyed because I paid for a leaf removal and disposal. After the job was done and the crew left, I noticed that they had just blown the leaves not far into the woods. I don't do that because any wind blows the leaves back on my property. I called and the crew came back, and mostly took care of it. However, it annoyed me that I paid extra for the disposal, and had to call and ask why it wasn't done for it to be done. Update 11-10-14 I have been in contact with Wayne Brockman since this spring. He seems to genuinely care about his customer's and the job his company performs. He has offered to make things right this year, and I am going to sign another contract for snow removal this coming winter. I believe that every company deserves a second chance, and I hope that Brockman Tree & Lawn Care can provide us with the best service they are capable of. Very disappointed with the level of service. We have asked multiple times for a specific day of the week to expect service so we can ensure the yard is free of toys, animals are in the house, and driveway clear of cars so mowers have access to back yard. Apparently this is too much to ask for. After speaking with the owner, it seems we are the only house that has this problem. I don't think I am asking for too much here. I guess if your lifestyle(no pets, no children, or vehicles parked in the driveway) allows you to have your yard ready for mowing at a moments notice than this is the company for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. read more

I have used Brockman for snowplowing, lawn fertilization, and short term grass cutting. They have been reliable overall in performing these services. The snowplowing fee is a bit higher than some of the competition but they do a good job, and communicate well on the timing of their plow routes as weather events unfold. read more

She had trouble understanding what an area code was and then, after this issue was resolved, she then asked what my address was and stated she only needed the street number not the city or zip. I used Brockman snow removal services for the 2015-2016 season. Unfortunately, I was very dissatisfied with the quality of their drivers! I had the boundaries of the driveway clearly staked and I specifically asked that snow not be pushed onto my neighbor's property. On several occasions, I watch the plow driver deliberately drive over my stakes to deposit snow on my neighbor's property or onto the middle of my front lawn. When I called the office to voice my concern, I spoke with one of the co-owners. It was a very unsatisfactory conversation! Although the owner said he would speak with the driver about leaving snow on my neighbor's property and tearing up her lawn, he stated it was fairly routine for stakes to be knocked over. That did it for me!! As I mentioned to the gentleman...in one season with his company, I had more lawn damage and snow stakes plowed over than in my combined 40 years of snow removal. To be fair, the drivers always showed up in a timely manner and I was never left stranded. The company also sends out email updates of the weather conditions. However, this is not enough to continue using Brockman or to recommend them to others. I had not planned on submitting a review of Brockman. Although after numerous requests from the company, I have submitted my honest assessment. I have selected another company for my 2016-2017 snow removal. read more

I use Brockman for plowing. Here's the pluses: They are reasonably priced, and they send email communication during snow events. Here's the minuses: Poor staking. I have a tricky driveway to plow and every year I have to push them to stake better to protect my lawn. And most of all, do not sign up with them without understanding where you fall on the route. My driveway is never, ever plowed before I leave for work at 8:15. Given that their stated goal is to have everyone plowed out before work, and that I leave for work later than most people, you'd think that at least sometimes I would be plowed in time. But I have used them for several years and have never ONCE been plowed before I leave. Every year it's a new excuse - new drivers learning the route, and underperforming driver they finally let go, etc. But it never gets better. I've stopped asking and decided that since I can't be bothered to get other quotes for the time being, I just need to live with it. So unless you have four wheel drive, or they will guarantee that you are very early in the route, stay away from Brockman for plowing. And don't pay all upfront in case you decide you're unhappy and want to cancel before the second payment is due. read more
