My girlfriend and I came here with high hopes, however, the staff seemed lazy, the food was dry and the bread was hard, and not the biggest problem, but there were no fries, which is a thing you generally expect a barbecue establishment to keep on hand (especially since they just opened). There isn't BBQ sauce at the table, you have to request it, and none comes on the sandwich. The pulled pork tasted off and the brisket was exceedingly dry, and the beans have too much onion in them. The waitress we had was awkward, she was slow, and when we asked for something, she was at the bar talking with a coworker for 5 minutes before we got our item. We also didn't get any refills. I have given this place several tries. The first time was a couple years ago when it was called the Acropoli amd was located in Dundee. At the time, they specialized Italian food - pizzas, calzones, etc. Both the food and service then was okay, nothing special. One of the employees told us that they were getting ready to move and become a bbq joint. My husband and I thought this was strange. The next time we tried them was after they moved into the Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales and had renamed themselves Brock's Smokehouse amd Acropoli. One of the managers (or owner) was outside and urging people to come in and check them out, so we did. The menu was an unusual combnation of Italian and bbq dishes. We decided to try the bbq and ordered brisket sandwiches, which neither of us were impressed with as the meat was too dry. Both of us agreed that this restaurant needed to make up it's mind as to whether it wants to be a great bbq joint or a great Italian restaurant instead of just a mediocre place trying to do both. This past week I was at the mall and decided to give them one more try as it was lunchtime and I was curious as to whether the food qualty had improved. Well, I never got the chance! There was a sign up front that said to seat yourself. A waitress came up to me and also told me to seat myself, so I did. And that was the end of it because I sat there for ten minutes and was ignored. No one ever brought me a menu or even acknowledged I was there. I picked up my bags and went to the food court instead. A uniquely bad experience. The staff was undertrained and awkward, and the food ranged from ok to not-yet-cooked. It was bad from start to finish, so just a few examples of many follow: It took three staff members to take our drink order (two sodas and two bottled beers). Refills were never offered. I ordered a pastrami and corned beef sandwich (a named menu item). My father asked, first, if he could get a different sandwich, but with mustard. We were told, oddly defensively, that they had ketchup and bbq sauce, no mustard. Then, he asked if he could get just a corned beef sandwich. The server, again somewhat defensively, told us we can't order off menu. I asked if ordering my sandwich without the pastrami would work, and was told yes. You do the math. My niece's corn dog was frozen when they brought it out. They brought us another, explaining that it was a new menu, and they haven't quite figured it out yet. My sandwich was actually ok. The bbq was good the turkey club wasn't it had 1piece of meat on it. The server fixed it by them making me another sandwhich and also with 1piece of meat. So if you eat here get Bbq as thats what tasted good,and what they should stick to. Thank you to our server for doing that for me. read more

Untrained staff. Potato salad terrible, collard greens straight from a can. Barbeque ribs were good and tender, baked beans good, slaw needs improvement. I went there and ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and a side of coleslaw my husband got the same thing only with baked beans as a side. My daughter ordered cheese pizza. The pulled pork sandwich had a decent amount of meat but not much flavor without sauce on it. The coleslaw was eh and baked bean side was very small. The French fries were greasy and I could not eat them. The beans were over oniony. The pizza was a cheese pizza and did not have hardly any cheese at all on it in fact , a quarter of it was completely without cheese! No tomato sauce on it either. And the bread was thick, Doughy, and tasted very strong of garlic salt. The manager said he would bring out another cheese pizza which he never did. I do not recommend it. I suspect this restaurant won't be open very long unless it goes through substantial change. And by the way, did I mention there was dry smeared poop on the bathroom floor. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Our brisket and turkey sandwiches were pretty good...however, the chicken wings we ordered weren't cooked thoroughly...the manager claimed they were (I know raw chicken when I see it!) Our waitress, well one of the two actually working there it seemed, were more concerned with chatting in the back than serving their tables! I would not feed this crap to my dogs. My wife ordered the trio sliders, the chicken tasted like it was three days old . The pork was reheated and hard. And the brisket was microwaved. Unfortunately was the worst dining experience ever. There were only a couple of tables with customers and service was slow. Took 50 minutes to get to hamburger meals. And I ordered the 5 alarm burger and it came to the table cold and as a plain cheese burger. So I told the to take my food back and I paid for the drinks and left. It was my first and last time there. I never complain or do that. But as dead as the place was it should have been quick and good. Very dissapointed. So we went to taco bell instead. Tried the pulled pork with a side of collard greens and white beans. The pulled pork seemed microwaved and was really drippy wet with water. The collard greens tasted sickly sweet then too spicy. The garlic knots were raw and doughy in the middle and the garlic taste was way too intense/raw. Nothing good to say about this food. One word: SLOW. Took 25 minutes to get a brisket sandwich with fries and a basket of chicken wings. (Only like maybe five tables seated...) Then I noticed that our food was delivered at the same time as a couple of other tables. Ahhh, was that the delay? Here's a thought: Make the food to order one table at a time, as the orders come in. My friend and I tried there pulled pork diner today and were not imprested with the service. The food was cold when served, they had no bread, there was no sauce on the table, we were not ask if we needed anything like catshup for the fries, and when I ask to speak to the manager I was told he would be right out, I guess he was to busy to see me as he never showed. The food was good and our waitress did the best she could under the cercumstances. We probably will not go back .I doult they will be there much longer with the present manqagment. read more

We were just there last night and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and fast. The restaurant was clean and our food (I had a burger and my husband had pulled pork) was delicious. We never had to ask for refills either. My only complaint was I wish the portions were bigger because our food was so good. A little diversity on the dinner menu wouldn't hurt either. I used to love this restaurant. The pizza was amazing. Now, it is so poorly managed that the staff argue over who has what table. Also, the last few times I went, they only had one obscure beer on tap. Every beer I asked for they would say, "I'm sorry, we are out of that beer." Gee after all the raves I thought when I dropped by for carryout I would have a good experience. After 4 p.m. went in..three employees casually standing by the register, far end of the bar. My sides were Baked Beans and Coleslaw..Food was prepared within a reasonable amount of time, I'll give them THAT..Got my selections home..now for the description, The Two Meats were "dry" not a drop of liquid anywhere to be found, looking into the take out I was disappointed in the size of the serving, (before you ask I was an executive Chef for over 30 years and I "get it" on food costs / profit margins etc.) I actually weighed the meat portions and combined it was 6 oz. The baked beans were in a section of the take out, and were good. The coleslaw portion weighed no more than 3 oz (remember these are full ordered sides) . The Antipasto salad was just a chopped mess, cubed pepperoni, maybe 3 no make it 4 olives (sliced up), no dressing, chopped cucumber, tomato 1/2 a slice, perhaps chopped up, and a hand-full of shredded cheese. The dining experience I had here was probably the worse I have ever had in my life. This is the first place I went to that did not offer fries. It took awhile to get our food and good luck getting a refill. Our waitress was more concerned about carrying on a conversation with the other staff then she was about doing her job. After I asked for a refill which I never got the next time we saw our waitress was when she brought us the bill. The food was mediocre at best and nothing to write home about. This place was one big mistake. Poor trained servers and so very dark ....lights turned down so you can't see what is wrong. I was told they have a great buffet on Sunday......not so. They had fried chicken, some kind of fish, canned beans, potato salad and garlic knots. I made the mistake of ordering off the menu....rib dinner with sides of baked beans (not baked but out of cans and heated on a stove) and potato salad. The ribs were quite a large portion and were cold. The server took them back and reheated them.....must have been in a microwave...all taste was gone, no matter how much BBQ sauce I put on them. Dry really fatty brisket, rude staff never brought our second drinks after I told them twice. Removed my meal and the second set of drinks from tab and upon walking out made a rude comment to me. The next day I checked my bank statement and they added on a tip after I told them I was not tipping due to poor service and the horrible rejected the food. One of the best pizza's I've ever had. I get one each Fri for family night. And they have them to go. I highly recommend it. The ribs and pork are slow cooked over wood and the wings are good also. read more

What a bizarre place & experience. The staff is completely untrained in terms of the customer experience. There was a staff member in tattoos and a white shirt who was playing music loud from his phone and taking about smoking weed to someone that walked in randomly and filled there own drink at the tap. (There was a sense of rushing , and the restaurants feeling was dead no music in the front. Also nobody was at the bar, the bartender was absent Let's start with the menu. Don't order anything Italian from this place, the food was probably the worst Italian food I have experienced. If the manager reads this review fire that staff beyond the young Latina women who at least greeted us well, cut your losses they are severely untrained to a manage a restaurant.
