There were a good amount of volunteers who knew what they were doing and got right to work planting shrubbery around the park. My son and I picked up trash but were pleased that there was not a lot at this alert-clean and beautiful park! (We did find evidence that local neighbors had done an Easter egg hunt and didn't successfully find them all ) Decent amount of street parking around the park. Large shaded space for recreation and a large playground for the kiddos when it's not wet outside. No bathroom, which is common, we've noticed, for local community parks in this neighborhood. A quick drive to Starbucks or Bel Air if you need a quick break.

This is a nice little gem that's…read moreperhaps not very well known, but being it's on South Land Park Dr. a thoroughfare that connects SLP off Florin Rd to the Pocket area, it's actually strategically located. It's right next to the former Lisbon Elementary School, now a charter school named Yav Pem Suab Academy, a bilingual Hmong and English school. In any case, this park has a lot of wonderful mature shade trees, providing lots of needed shade on hot summer days in Sacramento, and a decently nice playground. My kids enjoyed this park when they were little, and now when we drive past, we see little ones play on the structure. There's also a nice walking path that winds throughout the park and a few sitting benches for just relaxing and bird-and-people-watching, or perhaps if you wanted to just sit quietly in your own thoughts or read a book there's plenty of seating to do that. There's plentiful grass for an informal soccer game or a volleyball game if those are to your liking. In any case, this park is usually not so busy and although there's not any bathroom facilities here from what I recall, it's close to Bel-Air and the shopping plaza (about 5 minutes drive) there so it's definitely a good park to play at or relax in. The quiet and safe neighborhood it's in also makes this park one of the better ones in the Pocket area.

The trees make it feel relaxing and cool even in the summer. They also host community events here, like free gentle yoga in the park, which adds such a nice neighborhood vibe. It feels both peaceful and lively at the same time. The playground is large and space-themed, with climbing structures, multiple slides, swings (including toddler swings), a merry-go-round, and different areas for different ages. It's big enough that kids can stay busy for a while. The lake adds a really calming touch -- ducks, benches, fishing spots, and a paved path around it that's great for walking or casual biking. It's also good for dogs (on leash), especially during quieter weekday mornings. Best time to go is weekday mornings if you want it peaceful. Weekends can get crowded, especially mid-day, but that just shows how loved it is. Parking is street parking around the park -- usually fine on weekdays but can take a minute during busy times. There are public restrooms available -- standard city park bathrooms, functional but better earlier in the day. Overall, it's a relaxing but fun park with something for everyone. One of my favorite spots in Sacramento.

First, I went to the women's bathroom stall and it was dark inside with no lighting and wet all over the ground. It was slightly dirty, though, the outside pink building was beautiful. Thankfully, the event offered porta-potties, which were much cleaner than the actual bathroom stall. Most parks offer complimentary parking. This park charges for parking and the rates are as follows: $2.00 per hour or $7.00 for an all-day pass. The park provides a big pond area with a good handful of ducks. There is also a playground available for children's leisure and entertainment. Lastly, there are "exercise stations" placed throughout the park, which encourage more physical activity. Overall, it was a peaceful, beautiful, and spacious park.

Lock your car door, and don't leave any valuables in plain sight. The entrance to the park is a tad bit tricky since it does require a vehicle to cross over solid yellow lines, so look in all directions and be mindful of other vehicles (especially if they are painted black/white ... if you get my message).

LAME!!! This place…read moreused to be fun. Now it feels like going to a prison camp that you can fish at. The rules make no sense and the staff barks them at you relentlessly. SMUD still isn't allowing trailered boats to launch even though the rest of the state relaxed their launching regulations. SMUD even relaxed their mussel restrictions on the upper American, but not this stagnant pond. My son and I used to enjoy fishing here, but since closing the launches and forcing adults to wear life jackets on paddle boat watercraft or threatening to kick us off the water...your time could be spent better elsewhere that doesn't feel like the rest of California telling you what to do.

There is a separate men and women's restroom but they are not entirely private... It's basically a cement structure with no door so anyone can walk in on you. Either do the buddy system and have someone at the entrance or if you hear someone coming then call out that you're in the restroom. We particularly like going to this park for our dogs. The field is an off leash dog park but your dog should be under voice control since it's not fenced in. Most people bring their dogs in the evening, however if you go during school hours and the students are playing on the field then the teachers may ask you to keep your distance.

The park next to it is a great place to chill and read a book as you hear the fountains of the pond. If you want a place to relax, this park is always nice and quiet during the times when school is in session or in the morning.

Lawrence Park in Laguna West is one of those neighborhood parks that has been part of our lives for…read moreyears. I live nearby and have been coming here since it was first built, and my daughter has been visiting since she was a baby -- and somehow still enjoys it even now as a teenager. The playground has some classic features kids love. The big boulder is always a favorite for jumping off of, and the old-school monkey bars are still going strong for a reason. There's even a teeter totter, which my daughter and I still hop on sometimes just for fun. The park has also been updated since the original structure burned down. I really appreciate that much of the ground now uses tire material and some foam padding instead of bark. It helps keep the play areas from getting overly hot on little feet and adds a little extra cushion for falls. There's plenty of seating and a shaded picnic area that works well for birthday parties or just relaxing while the kids play. The soccer fields and big grassy area are also great for running around or casual games. One feature that's easy to miss is the beautiful pollinator corner at the Fassett Street side of the park. There's a small plaque explaining it, and it's such a thoughtful addition to support bees and other pollinators. Helpful tip: bring a blanket or snacks and plan to stay awhile -- there's plenty of space to spread out and explore. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.
