Bend Park is a great, well-balanced park with something for everyone. The open fields are perfect for tennis, soccer, and all kinds of field play, and there's a nice playground area for kids. One of the things I really appreciate is the shady tree areas that make it comfortable even on warmer days. What really makes this park special, though, is its access to the river. There's a convenient boat ramp and a beautiful walking, biking, and running trail that runs along the river behind some truly gorgeous homes. It's my favorite exercising trail in Sacramento! It's a peaceful place to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the scenery. read more

Came to Garcia Bend Park to spend a summer afternoon with my pups and her friend and stepson. The lake is super beautiful and nice to walk by and feels pretty safe as it is a lively park with lots of activity. Lots of space for dogs to walk and children to play! It is worth a visit. Dogs are supposed to be on leash while at this park. It was a hot day but pretty breezy by the water. Be sure to wear a visor or sunscreen! read more

Came for the shady pickleball court around 4pm. I hate playing in the sun on a 80°+ day but there are 2 shady courts. There's 8 pickleball courts. Plenty of parking. Wasn't too busy when I came but I know it gets busy here. I saw a flyer posted here the that says there's pb for beginners & intermediate here on Weds 8a-12pm says it's free which is awesome!! read more

A neighborhood park, one of the bigger ones. Lots of grass and open spaces for vball, soccer, baseball, etc. A couple of kids play structures also. Bathrooms are all gender ADA ones, only 4 but plenty, but also not very clean. There are tennis courts that double as pickleball courts too, but always super crowded. There's river access for boats to launch and sail away. All in all, a bit of fun for everyone. read more

Garcia Bend Park has become one of our go-to walking spots -- especially for me and my adventure buddy, Lobo. Today we took our usual stroll: about 2 miles round-trip up to the water tower and back. Took us about an hour and a half, mostly because Lobo insisted on sniffing literally everything along the way. Priorities, right? The path is clean, wide, and great for walking -- especially if you've got a pup who loves to explore. There's plenty of space to keep distance from other dogs if needed, and we've had a few great moments of calm, non-reactive greetings with other pups here. The park area itself is peaceful, has nice open views, and there's just enough shade to make it manageable even when it's warm out. Whether you're out for a jog or just vibing with your four-legged co-pilot, it's a solid spot. Lobo gives it two paws up -- though he'd like to formally request more squirrels and fewer distractions when he's mid-zoomie. read more

Large park in the Pocket/Greenhaven area! Visited for the first time last weekend for a soccer tournament! Lots of field area to play said soccer and they also have tennis courts! We saw people playing Pickleball which was cool! The only issue is parking - they do have a parking lot, but since this is a boat launch park, the spots are supposed to be used for boat trailers. You need to park on the street which can be a pain on busy weekends! It's a great park for events and I hope to come back soon! read more

The levee upgrade along the Sacramento River next to the Garcia Bend boat launch facility is finally done. The main entrance, which runs along the west end of the park, has been resurfaced and is no longer riddled with potholes. The tow truck/trailer parking lot has also been resurfaced and clearly marked with those long stalls for trucks and boat trailers. There is a new "ParkMobile" kiosk on the east end of the lot next to the restrooms where boaters and fisherman are expected to pay for use of the launch ramp and parking tow trucks and boat trailers. The old uneven steep walk way from the boat parking lot to the launch ramp and pier has also received a very nice "refresh". The new and improved walkway is much wider, it's wheelchair accessible with a lower more manageable grade, and it's equipped with handrails on both sides. (Insert heart emoji here :-). Thanks to the army corps of engineers as well as the california department of water resources and flood controls agency Garcia bend park looks spectacular and the levee is safe and ready to withstand heavy winter precipitation. read more

After attending a memorial service for my aunt who passed away a year ago, the family arranged for us to gather at this lovely little park for lunch. (My cousins ordered chicken and beef teriyaki bento boxes from Akebono and an assortment of manju from Osaka-Ya.) When we arrived they had secured a sheltered picnic area with plenty of tables, all covered with tablecloths and more than enough room for us to visit with each other and safely interact. One table was set up with a flood of photographs of my aunt and her family. It was a bittersweet time for getting together as I had not seen many of my cousins since 2017, when another one of my aunt's had passed away. Outside of where we were is a fairly large grassy area, most of it underneath large shade trees, and heaps of space for the kids to run around. There are play structures for kids to play on, release some of their natural energy. There was another celebration of sorts happening with another group and their BBQ smelled off the hook! Parking was easy and it was a short walk to the picnic tables. The restroom facilities are close by and clean. I think it is a great place for holding larger gatherings or just a family outing. Very pleasant overall. read more

Regional park most notable for being a famous fishing spot and boat launch park. There is a soccer field and tennis courts to boast as well. I use Garçon a Bend as my stopping point for my walk with Lucie. According to the Yelp App it is 1.6 miles from Caffe Latte making about a 3.5 mile round trip. I don't really like walking here as there are too many people around. There is also a pay box for using parking here but I don't know if that is currently being enforced. The walk from Garcia Bend to Shore Park along the levee is about 10 minutes or less. read more

This is such a beautiful park with a great walking or biking trail along the River. I am lucky to live nearby and I take my dog out here at least twice a week. He and I both enjoy the exercise and scenery. Everyone seems really friendly out on the trail; usually it's well populated with dog walkers, joggers, or bikers. This is my go to park when I have nothing else to do. It's recently been renovated making it even better. Nice picnic area, plenty of trees, clean washrooms, and long walk/bike trails along the river and several beach hidden beach spots once you get down there. read more

What a great place to come and take a walk, jet ski, barbecue or just have an adventurous afternoon walk. This is another nice big park we took a walk through this past weekend. Three big kids went out for a walk and ended up collecting rocks, skipping stones, swashbuckling the weeds as we ventured through the trails to get down to the river's edge. It was fun, to be out and about acting like kids, carefree and having a good time in the sun. I'd like to come back this summer for some more fun in the sun as well as long walks around sunset. read more

I love this park because you can access the Sacramento River Bike Trail here and it leads to the trail at the Bill Conlin Youth Sports Complex. This trail is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and is my go to running trail. It's a flat trail. I'm not exactly sure of the exact mileage of the trail but I usually do my 5k runs here. One day I hope to have enough stamina to run the whole trail from the Bill Conlin Youth Sports Complex to Garcia Bend Park. I've gotten some amazing sunset photos from this trail and I always see people walking, biking, or fishing. Everyone is always friendly. One side of the trail is the Sacramento River and the other side are beautiful homes! There is a small boat launch dock where you can take some beautiful photos (engagement or couple pictures). Just time it right so you can some beautiful colors in the sky. I docked off one star because sometimes people do not pick up after their animals so you do see some fecal matter. read more

I love coming out here. I use to live in the area and it was always filled with festivals and events. It's a nice area to bike and take walks. The river is nice to look at. There's also a docking area where you caN release your boat or kayak. I haven't kayaked on the river yet. I've kayak at the lake. Who knows it's 2020. I'll definitely might give it a try. There's areas to have a picnic and also sometimes I see little junior soccer teams practicing here. A nice place to relax. read more

Not too long ago, you would often hear Sacramento residents and visitors complain about a lack of things to do (outside of the traditional club/bar scene). Thanks to the Golden 1 Center and the emergence of new small businesses in Sacramento, Sac has now developed into a trending hotspot (random fun fact: we are also on the top ten list of most diverse cities in the U.S.). With that being said, I was ecstatic when my wife told me about Summer Movie Nights at Garcia Bend. To add icing on top of the cupcake, it just so happened that "Trucks & Such (Food Truck Mania)" all fell on the same day (Trucks and Such takes place every third Friday of the month). With summer slowly dwindling away, my family and I set out to enjoy some good food and Zootopia! When we arrived, the park was packed! The parking lot was so full that folks had to park in the surrounding residential area. Luckily, we decided to bike the 1.5 mile trek from our home. While looking for an area to lock our bikes, we stumbled upon a free bicycle valet service operated by volunteers (make sure that you tip these cool folks). We then set off to devour some loaded fries from "On the fry." Because this is not a review for "On The Fry", I'll keep it brief by saying that the food is pretty appetizing (prepare to make this your cheat meal)! After getting our food, we claimed a position on the large grass field in preparation for the movie. Aside from the occasional scheduled events, Garcia Bend is a pretty cool park. Of course it gets a little rowdy around the holidays due to the traffic associated without boating +alcohol. However, I have never seen anything that made me question the safety of my family and I. Every now and then you may have parents that let their kids run loose unsupervised (I'm going to keep my opinion to myself regarding this topic), but that's hardly an issue associated with the park. However, I do find an issue with the condition of their restrooms. I'm surprised that the residents of Greenhaven-Pocket have not complained about the condition of the restrooms (for the record, I have complained). The restrooms are not only poorly lit (I would rather take my child to a bush than to use this facility), but they are filthy and are often lacking bathroom essentials (soap + toilet paper). A great example of how a restroom should look, can be found at Bridgeway Lakes Community Park in West Sacramento (this park also has a cool Spray Ground from kids). On the bright side, there are usually a handful of Porta Potties available during the Friday night scheduled events. Back on a brighter note, this park also has a nice bike/run trail that runs alongside the river. During the summer, you'll feel safe knowing that there are lots of people that run this trail during the day and at night. If you haven't already, pay Garcia Bend Park a visit. Before I forget, thank you City Councilmember Rick Jennings for movies in the park...it's much appreciated! read more

This would be a 5 star park if the would fix the roadways! Lots of pot holes ! We come here often for my son's soccer practice. 2 big fields! Gated tennis courts! River access with a boat ramp. River trails for mountain bikes! No real street parking, good sized parking lot and boat parking areas! There's a fish cleaning station as well with public bathrooms. Park is located in a great area! This review is for the river access portion of the park, although we did see that there were a lot more activities for families available at this park than we availed ourselves of on our visit. If you are looking for river access without the craziness of Discover Park or having to pay anything to park, then this is a good spot. Keep in mind, you may have to hike the levee a little and may want to get there earlier in the afternoon (around noon) to get and stake out a good beach spot, but you will not be disappointed. The hike is not too bad if you are grilling on the beach. We used a small portable propane grill and a soft sided ice chest to carry our water bottles and stuff in. The hills down into the beach area might be a little steep for trying to lug any large ice chests or grills though. Had a great time and even got a spot that had a rope swing that the gidgets could swing on and drop down into the water. Was far enough from the boat dock so we could play and swim safely. read more

Boat ramp is open as of July 2019. Got there at 6:30am no wait to get in the water. Leave at 1:30pm no wait to get my boat loaded and leave. The only problem was the automated parking machine was broken. I had to download the parking app and they charge an extra .35. read more

Pretty good size park. Has river access for boats and when my girlfriend and I came there today, parking lot was half full but not a lot of people at the park. They were most likely on the river. It was quiet and nice to have a picnic. read more

I really enjoyed my walk along the river from this location. Very relaxing, great view, nice folks out for a stroll. A few sketchy folks hanging in cars, and just around. I grew up in the area so I recognize sketchy. Football camp at the park, lots of local kids. Overall a nice experience! read more

I have a few favorite parks in the Pocket and Garcia Bend is one of them. I like to bring the little rascals to play at the park, the bae likes to fish at the river, or I hook up with friends and go for a walk the levee. There is a lot of parking and since there's a boat launch there are spaces big enough for trucks with trailers. The park has two playgrounds, one for older kids and one for the toddlers/babies and a swing set that divides the two. The playground has taken a beating from the sun so it looks faded making which looks outdated. Also lots of green grass for open play (tons of soccer games happen here on the weekends), a shaded area with picnic tables and a grill. On a perfect day, I'll bring a mat and make lunch for a picnic. My kids and I can chill for hours here. Oh and if you do your research, you can catch food truck events or movies in the park here. read more

Now this here's a good levee. I don't know much about the park - it seems to be plenty good for playing soccer in, as it's in use consistently for that very reason each time I visit. But this here levee is a nice levee. When I'm in a lame mood, I take my little legs on a walk up here. The view is perfect at any time of day, and at various parts of the trail there are shaded areas and sunny areas, so it's never too bright or dark. There's also picnic tables down below, near the river's edge. I've yet to use them for that reason, but they're pretty good for rolling joints on. Many an intellectual conversation to be had walking upon this path. Bring some snacks, because you'll wanna stay for a while - the trail goes on for a few miles. And if you're a busybody like my mother, you can see everything going on in the yards of those who made the wise decision to buy property next to a levee. Lots of good hiding spots under the trees down below, if you're looking for that. Perfect for making out, and for smoking underneath. You can swim in the river if you'd like. I wouldn't recommend it, but others seem to enjoy it. Once you walk up to the levee from the parking lot, you're gonna wanna turn left, because to the right... I dunno. We turned right once, and I think it was just a dirt path, so we go left since then. It's also a pretty good place to smoke a blunt. read more

I like this park, it is nice and peaceful. Right here next to the river. I needed to get out this morning and get some fresh air (and its fresh). This park has so much to offer and its in a nice location. Just walking along the river is so peaceful. I love it! Lots of free parking and a nice big playground and play area for the kids and family fun. They have a area were you can hike a lil and a tennis court and jogging, if thats what you're into. I think that this park is amazing, you can come here and bbq with the family. The week days it quiet, but the weekends is much more busy. I've come here a few times now, because its close to where I live. I love to come and just walk along the river to clear my head. There's always someone walking or running along the trail. I would bring my granddaughter here doing the summer and she loves the playground here. Its can get really crowded and busy here. I don't care too much for the rest rooms. NOT a lot of privacy and not the cleanest! Over all I think this is a great park, because it offers a lot to do and see and its all free. Came here for the first time today with the family and our German Shepherd and it won't be the last time we come back. Jogging, or even just walking, alongside the river is really enjoyable. I liked how they had marks on the ground for how far you've gone on the trail & how you can either run on the dirt trail or the gravel trail. This park is ok. The equipment for the kids is fun and there is River access here. This park does bring some shady people to it. I've seen some suspicious people hanging out here. The bathrooms are old school and alway gross. No doors, so prepare to be walked in on. And this park gets really crowded. read more

Went up to teach a wakeboard lesson on Saturday here, and it was really beautiful there. This particular area of Sacramento is pretty affluent, and suburb community like. At the park they have a really nice soccer fields, where little kids leagues were playing when I got there, and great beachy picnic areas, a bike/run trail. And the Sacramento River was a nice change from the usual dirty delta we launch in. The only thing is that they don't seem to maintain the boat launch dock, so there was a sand bank that made the ramp uneven on one side. Only one dock too so if it's busy, you may have to float around for awhile. The nice thing is that if you wakeboard in the river, it never gets too busy, so you don't have to worry about boat traffic. This is a big park, lots of grassy area, a baseball field or what can be used as one. It can get kind of crazy busy when there's events here, I personally don't like to bring my kids here to play and prefer smaller, quieter, less crowded, and more cozy little parks. This is more like a regional park b/c there's also boat docking where boats can launch from here on the other side of the levee into the Sacramento River, so too many big trucks with their boats. The good thing though is that it is a good place for big community events and there certainly are a bunch of those taking place here year round, especially in spring, summer, and fall when the weather is nice. The parking lot is plenty big too, which is another reason it's good b/c you don't have to worry about not finding a parking spot. The playground is ok, not spectacular or anything. Overall, it's a nice park, but I actually prefer quieter and more secluded neighborhood parks for my kids to play in and for relaxing to de-stress and get some fresh air. read more

Very clean park with clean facilities. It's also huge!!! There's a boat ramp so you can bring your boats and jetski's too. The reason why I go here is to sit by the river and BBQ. There are lots of trees, which means lots of shade. However, come early because a lot of people come to BBQ at the same spot. There's A LOT of tree branches and stuff that is in the dirt so that made it hard to walk bare foot. The water felt so nice, the Sacramento River isn't as cold as the American River. The water isn't too deep around this time, either. You don't have to worry too much about your kids playing in the water. This is definitely a relaxing spot, especially good if you want to get in the water! read more

A nice Pocket area park. They have play structures, tennis courts, a large soccer field, and the levee to walk, run or bike on. The view from the levee is quite relaxing, because it looks on the Sacramento River. If you have a boat, you can launch your boat from this park. Overall a great place to take the family! read more
