I've been to Broken Clover multiple times in the past to get my ears pierced and all of them have been wonderful experiences. I had no issues whatsoever so, I then decided to get my chest pierced because, why not? I went with Shawna, and right after the procedure, I noticed that she pierced me way too deep. I told her that it didn't look right and she checked and said that it was completely normal, that it was just swelling and it'll go down after a week. Unfortunately, it was not pierced correctly at all, and I ended up going back again to get a refund three days later. Shawna was there and when she saw me, I could tell that she knew she messed up but didn't want to admit it. I got one of my piercings removed and I was offered a free re-pierce with a different person, and I took it because I've been to this place multiple times now and again, no real issues until that moment. The second time I got it pierced was by Leo, and like the first time, it was not pierced correctly at all. My bar was literally diagonal, down to the base. I ended up taking them off about four months later because they were causing me a lot of issues and there were some signs of rejection. It was a really disappointing experience, this happened a year ago but I wanted to write a review to warn people about what might happen since there's not a lot of feedback on their work with body piercings. If you want to get ears pierced, then yes go to this place, but from my experience, I would do more research on other places for more extreme types. read more

Ronnie does great work! He has a very soft touch, which is great if your getting your head tattooed like I did. He also did a tattoo for my daughter. I send everyone to see him that comes to me looking for a tattoo artist. They also have a great piercer and a decent selection of quality jewelry. Their prices are reasonable too. My only complaint is that you can't just go in to buy jewelry. They don't usually have someone available for sales so if someone doesn't happen to be available then you have to come back. read more

I was referred to Faechi by a friend and former student. I wanted an honest artist as well as an experienced tattooer who displays integrity and commitment to his clients. Faechi lived up to all of my expectations. Because of the recent restrictions concerning COVID-19, I was also looking for a shop that follows safe distancing where the artists and clients wear face masks as well as well as sanitary practices. Truthfully, other than for the occasional impulsive flash tattoo, I have only ever worked with one tattoo artist before on larger tattoos that mattered a lot to me. My usual guy was booked out for the rest of the year, and I had a tattoo I KNEW I needed to get in this moment that couldn't wait. I found Johnny Jinx on Instagram and reached out to him. He was very prompt, communicative, and organized. when I arrived to the studio with my tattoo- in a language he was not familiar with- he asked me poignant questions regarding the design I brought in that I would have never thought to ask. I'm so glad he took it as seriously as he did and didn't assume anything- even if it's something that I would've thought to be obvious since I am familiar with the language. The other things I really appreciated is that for the first time ever, I felt like I was going to pass out. Johnny didn't make me feel dumb at all and was very attentive during that episode. This is where and when I met Vidhya. I believe she is one of the piercers at Broken Clover. Well, when I asked her how long she had been piercing she said only 9 months. Obsessed with my brand new custom tattoo by Deno!! Best up and coming artist in AZ!! His work is on Instagram @ prettyink_tattoos and I'm pretty sure he's soon to be one of those tattoo artists with a 3 year waitlist. I'm definitely glad I was able to get in to see him when I did, and even now I had to wait a few weeks for his schedule to open up. But there's no one else I'd trust to put something permanent on my body. The design process for this custom with Deno was a delight and such a breeze. It was my first time ever entrusting someone else with the creative decision making process but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'm not naturally a very artistic person, but I knew I wanted a literary inspired tattoo, something that was pretty with some books and flowers involved. In my head I was expecting a run of the mill book design similar to the thousands of available pictures on Pinterest, and I was just hoping Deno could put some of his own creative originality into it because I wasn't in love with any of those inspiration pics. But oh boy did he go ABOVE AND BEYOND! He started by asking me for some example pictures of where I was thinking about doing the tattoo placement regardless of the content he just wanted to establish a feel for what types of tattoos I personally liked. He asked if I wanted color or black work, if I wanted it to be just an outline or shading and then with shading he established whether or not I wanted white ink included for highlights. He told me to send him some of my favorite flowers. At this point I was already excited by the amount of detail he was gathering because it really made me feel like even if I'm not personally capable of artistically designing an image or a tattoo, Deno really cared about my input for the design and that whatever he came up with included the elements that I personally find aesthetically pleasing. But THEN he asked me for my three specific favorite books and that was when I REALLY knew he was a different artist than what I was expecting. I know a lot of artistic creators have their own extremely personal style and ideas about what they create and what looks good. Even when they involve you in the process they're really more focused on how THEY think a design should look or what THEY find personally appealing (I'm sure even if you haven't been tattooed you've experienced this type of thinking at the hairstylist before at some point in your life). But Deno really understands that while it might ultimately be HIS creation it's a creation that will live forever on YOUR body, and he definitely takes that responsibility incredibly serious. You choose him because of the quality and style of his work, but he makes sure that his style is applied to an end product that you're proud to wear, and that makes ALL of the difference. Deno sent me multiple pictures of different copies of my favorite books and asked which ones were my favorites and what it was specifically about them that I enjoyed. He sent me images of flowers for my opinion. And this was all before I had ANY idea what he was thinking for a finished design. But he took all the elements I loved and married them together BEAUTIFULLY. By far my favorite part of the whole design is that when he was requesting my opinions on book spines, in order to give an example of the style I liked, I sent him a picture of an older copy of East of Eden I found thrifting that was published in German. Simply because it was a style of book I love that has a very simple spine but includes some minimalistic ornamentation. And then he INCLUDED it in the tattoo!! So now not only is one of my favorite copies of one of my favorite books on my shelf at home, it's on my body with me too. I loved his design so much, the only alterations I had him make was to add some petals/leaves falling in front of the books and onto my arm. I wanted it to have more flow/movement and Deno was more than happy to add them on while I was at my appointment asking for my feedback every step of the way. I genuinely could not love this tattoo any more, and I am so glad that I was able to get it done by Deno before he becomes a household name. I couldn't recommend him more. If you're even CONSIDERING getting your first or next tattoo message Deno! He's extremely friendly, open to answer any questions or concerns you have, and truly values the input of his clients. read more

I have been to broken clover several times, having been tatted by Deno and Jinx along with an eyebrow piercing from Shawna. Deno has done a few pieces for me and I love them. The goofy sailor moon face is by far my most favorite tattoo I have. He is professional, hilarious, and gives you what you ask for. Jinx has been awesome taking over sleeve work my last artist from another shop in Tucson was failing at. He took the grey blobs and brought them to life! My arm looks amazing and am extremely happy to have made the choice to switch. He has also done a few Pokémon tattoos for me and we are going to plan a leg sleeve that is leafy with my favorite grass type Pokémon. As a side note, he is professional and his shop is clean, full of genuinely passionate people. They are all so easy to talk to as if they were your artist. Shawna pierced my eyebrow and it is perfectly lined up. I've been pierced elsewhere and none of those places compare to how surgically clean she was. If I wanted, I'd definitely have her pierce something else! This shop has a great family feel, is clean, professional, and plain awesome with what they do. The negative reviews on here deal more with the clientele being dense....so as long as you actually plan your tattoo with what you want, you will be happy. If not, that's your problem. Maybe you're not cool enough for Broken Clover, but if you get a tattoo at Broken Clover, that might make you cool enough. Twenty years after bartering for my first 2 tattoos (and getting my money's worth, don'tcha know) I decided I was going to find the absolutely best tattoo parlor in town for my grownup ink. I settled on Broken Clover, as it was very highly rated, and chose Raquel as the artist whose work seemed to best fit my vision. Working with Raquel was great! I got a couple simple tats first: one was a small line illustration from a book I had when I was a kid, and the other was some numbers in a typewriter face. Raquel works really fast: I was under the needle for maybe an hour total and got 2 very clean tattoos with incredibly fine detail. The lines are so exquisite! Some of them were a bit too fine, but they do touch-ups for free, so it was the work of 3 minutes to fix it. Then I was ready for a more complicated piece. I had a few pictures that were close to what I wanted, but not quite. Raquel was able to patch the source material together to create almost exactly what I had envisioned in my mind. This 3rd tattoo gets so many compliments! The shading is spot on, and again, the tiny details are remarkable. They just leased out the storefront next door to their original location, doubling the size of the business. Don't drop by; the door is usually locked and you need an appointment to see an artist. If you visit during the day, you may have difficulty finding the place. There's a neon "tattoo" sign in the window, but they often keep the sliding door down over it, so there's a good chance that you'll just walk on past, as there is no shingle to identify the business. Maybe they'll change that in the future. The artists are really friendly and helpful. I'm saving up for a quarter sleeve and Raquel is definitely my first choice. read more

I went in with my wife because she was interested in some work that she saw on Instagram. The shop looked great and everyone was friendly. While she was chatting with an artist, I showed Molly some ideas I was thinking about, and she was able to help me piece it together very well. She was quick to get me scheduled and in for my appointment, and did a great job! We didn't finish up completely, so she agreed to finish the last bit of wording and my touch up for free, since I paid full price at the time of my first appointment. I had emailed her a few weeks later after my tattoo healed to schedule the follow up. She agreed to me coming in Tuesday evening. Tuesday afternoon I got an email saying she meant to schedule me for Wednesday and not Tuesday, even though we clearly agreed to Tuesday. This did not work for me, due to work conflictions. So, we agreed to another appointment on a Saturday afternoon a week later. I drive there, and decide to check my email before I walk in, to which I see an email from Molly saying she was sick and needed to reschedule for the next day. I don't live close to this shop at all, so it's tough to make time to drive out to the shop. So, I just said no thank you to the reschedule. I know things happen, people get sick, but to me, it seemed like this appointment wasn't as important as the first, since this appointment was going to be free, but when I was paying full price for the first session, she was very accommodating to get me in. That left me kind of disappointed. Overall it is a very good shop with talented artists, but I was personally left a little unsatisfied after my last interaction. read more

Unfortunately I don't check my yelp notifications but luckily I was able to come across your disrespectful and avoidant response this morning. Hey Johnny J let me ask you a question. If you used Siri to translate Roman numerals and tattooed them permanently onto somebodies body just to have that person come back and say these are wrong would you use Siri to translate Roman numerals again or would you use something else to at least check them? My artist admitted to me that this was something he had done not once but twice before it happened to me. I don't expect a tattoo artist to be a linguist. In fact I am actually learning to be one right now!! I don't know Roman numerals off the top of my head nor do expect anyone else to but I know if I had permanently put something into someone's skin wrong because of a method I used I wouldn't use that method again much like everybody else with common sense tattoo artist or not. I'm not asking for expert linguistics skills I'm asking for common sense. As I said last time I should have double checked. I put more blame on myself than the artist. I could have translated my tattoo properly by simply not using Siri except I wasn't the one being payed $300 to do it nor the person who said they would do it. He asked me to send the dates out of Roman numeral form. Point. Blank. Period. He said he would translate them. That being said "most of us are dropouts no smarter than you" there are plenty of intelligent tattoo artists. So no I don't recommend broken clover. They will make a mistake two times not learn from it make the same one on you and the owner will defend it and question your intelligence as if it isn't basic decency to make sure your putting the correct thing into someone's skin permanently for hundreds of dollars. When I tattoo I check at least 3 times before placing a stencil especially on translations because my goal is to give them the best result possible no matter how long that takes because that's what they are COMING TO ME FOR and it's clear that isn't broken clovers goal. I've left two reviews this previous one and the other one is a great one which just goes to show that's how terrible this experience has been and how disappointed I am by the owners reaction. I strongly hope you and the artist your defending come to realize to you it's one of the 10 clients you saw in the day, to them it's the tattoo they saved months for. I don't want a Harvard genius doing my tattoo, I just want the artist holding a needle to my body to always put 100% effort in and understand the seriousness that not every tattoo is gotten on impulse or to take up space, they mean something if that is too much to ask from your shop based on your response all I can say is good luck. read more

DO NOT come here for piercings! I got both sides of my nostril pierced there by an apprentice, the first one came out fine and the second one was pierced at an incorrect angle so I took it out and came back to get it repierced. When I got it repierced, it was pierced incorrectly again. I went to a different studio to get it looked at and they informed me that the apprentice program that the mentor did was only two weeks long and it barely enough for piercers to be piercers. I've been working on my chest piece with Sequoya since February of this year. I had a rough idea of what I wanted, but I'm not a visual person so I couldn't visualize it. I told Sequoya what I wanted the tattoo to represent, and she immediately started working on ideas. What she came back with was beyond anything I had anticipated. Throughout the entire planning process she made sure to check in with me several times and make sure I was satisfied with the design, and assured me that she'd fix anything I wasn't happy with before going into our first session. It's very clear she takes her work and her reputation seriously, and that she wants to make sure her work is exactly what you're hoping for. Throughout each session she was incredibly accommodating. When it got too painful, she let me take breaks for as long as I needed, and she made sure to be engaging the entire time. She made having needles repeatedly pushed into my skin about as enjoyable as it can be. But it's clear that she works hard to make the experience as collaborative and enjoyable as possible, so that you walk away not just satisfied, but loving your tattoo. I've only had one other tattoo done so far, and it was by another artist, but the difference in experiences was night and day. Minsu was recommended by my niece and he did an awesome job on my tattoo. But the owner was the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. He reprimanded Minsu while he was working on a customer and did not let up. It was so bad that we all felt incredibly embarrassed and almost walked out. The only reason I stayed was because I didn't want Minsu to lose the business because of his bosses antics. The owner was rude, aggressive and created a bad energy in the shop. Minsu maintained his professionalism but clearly was taken aback by the situation. If energy or professionalism is as important as good ink, then I would skip this one. read more
