As good as it gets...seriously, no hyperbole here. They really are that good. I needed some sun-damaged skin on my nose looked at last week, and the professionalism and level of, "empathetic-customer-service" that I experienced was exceptional. So much so, that as I got back into my car, I paused and reflected on how nice a world it would be if all businesses treated their customers with the same level of respect, and courtesy, and sincere care that Pima Dermatology does. Dr. Moussa was my doctor. She and her care-staff made me feel super-comfortable and took the time to explain the process. The exam was conducted efficiently , but it never felt rushed. I was impressed by how gentle Dr. Moussa was and how she showed concern for me when she had to do a couple minor scrapings (it hurt at a "level 2" (like a pin prick) on a scale of 10, but she still was like a loving-mom taking care of her kid after he fell of his bike and scraped his knee--*That's kinda corny, but if you ever get treated by Dr. Moussa, I bet you think, "Oh, that yelp review guy was right, this does seem like a super caring mom is watching out for me.)" Additionally, on the front lines of Pima Derm, there is also a genuine warmth and empathy that can be felt as soon as one enters the facility (*actually, I felt this way when I first called to set up the appointment a few weeks ago, as whomever answered the phone, when I called, showed the perfect blend of professionalism and warm kind-heartedness as we spoke ). The front-office administrative staff that handles the paperwork, and are the first point of contact with the patients, was also superb and despite the fact that my appointment was late in the afternoon, they greeted me with warm smiles and a sincere friendliness that one can expect if you are the first customer to arrive in the morning. I had an extremely negative experience with tattoo removal here. The treatment was done poorly and resulted in a severe complication. After the procedure, the area became badly infected and I ultimately developed MRSA, which required medical treatment. This was not a minor reaction -- it was serious, painful, and stressful, and it should never happen from a cosmetic procedure when proper protocols are followed. The aftercare guidance and overall handling of the treatment did not meet an acceptable standard of care. I deeply regret having this procedure done here and would strongly caution others to research thoroughly and ask detailed questions before proceeding with tattoo removal at this location. read more

The facility is moderately nice and the staff is friendly. None of that matters because this practice is unbelievably expensive for very little return. I went in for a consultation to discuss possible causes for my acquired food allergy which was manifesting as hives. The doctor had great bedside manner, but essentially left me with zero insights. She told me to continue keeping a food blog and taking pictures of any hive outbreaks (which I have done consistently for the past two months). After leaving empty-handed, I was pleased that I wasn't charged for the office visit... until three months later when I received a bill in the mail for $217. $217 to miss 2 hours of work and learn nothing valuable about my condition. What a joke. I believe the way that I was charged was also very unprofessional. I can't speak for their cosmetic services, but I highly do not recommend this practice if you need to investigate mysterious food allergies. read more

The Consolidated Version: Pima Dermatology is a HORROR show for tattoo removal. Extremely unprofessional. I paid $70 for a consultation fee, and received a written and signed financial agreement for treatment. I had to wait nearly a month for my appointment, and pay for treatment in advance. My credit card was charged $2,584.00 and I was injected full of lidocaine (which was never used before in my treatments on the East Coast). This injection process was far more painful than my laser treatments have ever been ,but Liza Byrne insisted that I would need it because they supposedly had "very powerful lasers". After I was injected and swollen and bruised, I was informed that the agreed upon area to be treated would actually cost me nearly $10,000!!!! Mind you, this is half way through the treatment! The injections took longer than the laser treatment does! The whole experience was HORRIFYING. Seriously. Was it all a scam to get more money out of me? Why was I not informed before I was injected hundreds of times with huge needles full of lidocaine? Not only that, but when I called my laser specialist to ask her about what was going on, she informed me that she used the EXACT same lasers on me. There's nothing special about Pima's lasers and lidocaine should be an OPTION, not a requirement. My arm is still swollen and bruised from the injections over a week ago. The Details: I paid a $70 consultation fee for tattoo removal. I was assured that the entire anterior of my arm would be treated all at once, six times according to the agreement which was drawn up at the consultation. I received a financial agreement which was signed by "M. Cano" as well as myself. The agreement specifically states that the total cost for a package deal of six removal sessions on the anterior of my arm would cost $2,584.00. The amount was paid in full and my appointment was set. Upon arrival at my appointment I was told by Liza Byrne that they would not be able to treat the entire area which was agreed upon due to the fact that they would not be able to inject my arm with the amount of lidocaine needed to treat that area. I assured her that I didn't need lidocaine, as I have never had any sort of anesthetic in the past during this treatment. She insisted that she would be using a very powerful laser and that it was absolutely necessary in order for my treatment to be performed there. I asked if the price would remain the same even though I would have to have the area treated in segments. I was assured that the price on the agreement would be honored for the entire area on the agreement. Ms. Byrne then told two assistants to go ahead and inject my arm with the lidocaine. After a long and extremely painful process of injecting the entire bottom half of my arm with lidocaine, I was moved to another room. Ms. Byrne came in with another lady who then told me that the price for treatment would be approximately 3.5 times greater than the agreed upon price. I stated that I would not be willing to pay more than the price on the financial agreement. I was told that the $70 consultation fee as well as the $2,584.00 that I paid for treatment would be refunded. I left the office with my arm entirely numb and swollen. It was four whole days before the swelling went down and two days before i regained feeling in my arm. My arm is still bruised and it has now been an entire week. Not only was I treated badly by Ms. Byrne, who was condescending and rude, but I had to miss work that night due to my arm being swollen and numb. I did receive a full refund for the consultation as well as treatment, however that does not make up for the time lost to this entire process as well as the horrible treatment. When I contacted my laser removal specialist on the East Coast, who is an RN, she told me that what was done to me is medical malpractice. I should have never been injected with all of that lidocaine, and clearly I should have been informed of the $6,000 price increase prior to the injections.The agreement should have been honored. If the person who was responsible for drawing up the agreement did something wrong, that should not have been made my problem. When I go to a business for services, I assume that everyone who was appointed to assist me is competent enough to be trusted. Pima Dermatology has caused me to prolong an already long and grueling process. I believe that I now have permanent scar tissue in my arm from where the hundreds of needle pokes fished around while lidocaine was administered. I never would have subjected myself to this torturous process had I not been convinced that it was a means to an end. It seems as though it was a scheme designed to get more money out of me as I was only informed of the financial increase after the treatment had begun. My issue is with their billing process and not the care provided. Fair warning, they will perform procedures that were not approved by your insurance and then bill you after the fact. You go in with an approved referral to a Dermatologist without knowing specifically what is or isn't covered in your referral. They don't advise you on what they have been approved to do either. They just say, "do you want to take care of that while you're here as well". Thinking you have an approved dermatology referral for skin issues, you let them and then end up with a bill with the excuse that your insurance didn't approve that. They should let you know BEFORE doing anything above and beyond what was approved that there will be an additional out-of-pocket expense if you allow them to proceed and they should also let you know what that amount is. They also fail to submit electronic prescriptions. I've called them multiple times to tell them the prescription my son was supposed to get never went through and each time they say they will submit it and still, months later, no prescription. I canceled my appointments and told them I was no longer going to put up with their poor customer service and poor patient care. I had enough of their uncaring attitude. Then the "office manager" calls me 2 months later to argue with me. I used quotations because because the office is not managed well at all. I don't understand why she called. To what end? Earlier this month I visited Pima Dermatology for the first time to get a Vitalize Peel from Maria. After assessing my skin's current condition (not-so-fun adult acne), she recommended a different plan of action to get it under-control before going ahead with the Vitalize peel...which coincidentally would have caused more breakouts. I very much appreciated her honest feedback, thoroughness and the time she took to explain a skin care regimen to help treat my adult acne. She provided me with samples, wrote down the routine and we set an appointment up for a future date to allow my skin time to clear up. I've been recommending her to my friends. It was a comfortable, no pressure environment which I really appreciated. My skin looks a ton better, and I'm looking forward to my followup appointment. read more

i hold medical/dental offices and practices to a very high standard and Pima Dermatology earned a 5 star rating. I had a complete skin examination last week and the process went very well. The kiosk check in was a bit of a surprise for me but the woman behind the counter was helpful and patient when i had a few questions. I was taken in exactly on time- not always the case with medical appointments. I was examined by Liza Byrne and i found her friendly, competent and re-assuring. Several areas needed to be biopsied and she was clear in explaining the reasons for it and also very gentle and professional in doing them. She was assisted by a woman whose name i do not recall ( sorry) who was friendly and professional. Before i left Liza explained the notification process for the biopsy results and i received them in a timely manner. All in all i was very impressed and am pleased to have found a dermatology practice here in Tucson now that we have re-located from Seattle. The burn went away, but the wrinkle is forever on the side of my smile, all because I trusted these no brained people to help me with my acne. After experiencing a horrible experience with another dermatologist in Green Valley, Arizona a friend referred me to Pima Dermatology. I called for an appointment They diagnosed my skin cancer the second appointment. Dr Goldberg personally and thoroughly explained my options. I elected to have major, in my humble opinion, surgery. Shortly after that I was in Pima Dermatologies office being prepared for surgery receiving some mild sedation, the nurse explained the entire process again. During the surgery I had a local antisept and felt no pain and no anxiety. Dr Goldberg explained everything that he was doing or about to do. It was a long procedure, due to the Drs concern about getting all of the cancer out. This fine organization even has a pathology service, on site to audit the process. Once the procedure was complete the staff attended to my every need. The following day and the following week the staff called me to see if there was anything I needed and service they could provide. Amazing and Doctor who really cares about his patience in today's crazy world! The subsequent visits have been something I have and will continue to look forward to. Imagine, a doctors office of highly trained professionals who always smile and tend to your every need. Pima Dermatology has renewed my faith in the medical profession. They cancelled my appointment as well as my wife's appointment (different doc, different days) and asked us to reschedule. I have been a patient of Dr. Beal's for years, and was trying to get a prescription bridge for 3 months until appointment. Dr. office refused to re- fill. When asked to leave message for Dr. Beal to return my call, I was told that he does not call patients. My medication states on label "do not miss dose or discontinue use", yet when mentioning this to the assistant, she was not concerned in the least, and basically stating that the medication labeling is NOT truthful. The labeling comes from the pharmaceutical companies, and an assistant with minimal training has no right to question the labeling of medication. In addition, if my doctor does not have the time to return a patient call, perhaps it is time to find a new doctor. read more

It is rare that a doctor's vast experience and knowledge are coupled with a gracious, kind, and reassuring manner, but that is exactly the case with Dr. Goldberg. I saw his assistant, Lynn, two years ago for instruction about aging skin care which was extremely helpful. In April, Dr. Goldberg performed laser restructuring of my neck. I was apprehensive, as I had never had a procedure for skin rejuvenation, but it was very successful. His office is extremely efficient and a filled with beautiful flowers, music, and the doctor's photos. If I need any additional treatments, I would not go to anyone else. read more

I made an appointment here to get laser tattoo removal treatment on a small tattoo. The facility is certainly nice, but their pricing was outrageous. They actually charge you for a consultation. Yes they charge you $80 just to have someone look at your tattoo for a minute and do nothing!--they then want you to set up a SEPARATE appointment (which will set you back even more). They at least count your consult payment toward your laser appointment, but only if you set up the appointment in the next three months. Why? Why pay for what is essentially a pre-appointment? I was able to find another laser tattoo removal specialist who is more affordable, and can treat you on the same day of your consult--in my case for only $50. I had to schedule time off work both times. They couldn't even squeeze me In either time. They have a policy of charging when you cancel at the last minute. I've had good service from the Doctor's here, especially Dr. Allison, but the office staff is horrible. Got a call that we had a credit balance and if we didn't do something they were going to turn it over to the State as unclaimed money!? I asked the finance lady why they didn't just apply it to my co-pay when I was there JUST LAST WEEK and she said they weren't able to 'see' that page and didn't know I had a credit balance. So they mail me two different checks in two different envelopes (?) and neglected to sign one of the checks. Now I have to return that and go through this all again. Sheesh. People who complain about their insurance not covering a treatment or medication, should confer with their insurance provider. People who complain about not being able to book an appointment, should realize how busy this practice is for a reason - they are great at what they do! Don't listen to complainers.
