We were passing through town on our way to Denver for a military training exercise, and stopped in for a burger. Some of the officers had been here and recommended it. Let's just say I was blown away by how good things were here. I know my way around a good burger and I'll just say that super yummy is an understatement. The details of chopping up the bacon and homemade buns made the experience amazing.. The Cowboy burger was incredible. The barbecue sauce seemed to be infused to the thick patty. Waitress was nice. Ordered salad bar, burger, fries and a side of sweat potato fries for girlfriend and myself. The salad bar hadn't been freshened you for awhile lettuce was wilting items were out, the noodle soup was gross. The sweet potato fries were ok. The burger and fries at first were good. That is until I heard a waitress (I'm assuming) and cook. The waitress was covering her face and saying gross to the cook. This instantly put my stomach at unease. When we're out and about we always find local places to go. Passing through we stopped here and it didn't disappoint. Asked the waitress what she would recommend and she said chicken fried steak. Probably the BEST we've ever eaten...hand breaded awesomeness, real smashed potatoes, country gravy with the right amount of pepper and I even ate the fresh green beans. Has a lot more room than its prior Jose Pizzanos. Still a snug little restaurant, tho. The building was very cold while we were having lunch but we quickly got over that once we all had hot food. The three of us all got burgers. They were all rather fatty and greasy if you like that in a burger. I was suppose to get swiss on my burger but I'm sure it was gouda or something else. Certainly was not swiss. My fires were also quite crispy and boarding overcooked. I wish I got gotten. The potato curls or whatever they are because they were much more appetizing. I wish the waitress had other side tasks or people to be serving. I feel as though she was staring at our table and she checked in on us about 5 too many time. Wanted to tell her to calm down lol. I would have left my review earlier, however I was SICK! Could it have been food poisoning from my badly cooked meal here, maybe, but I don't know, although interestingly I found myself extremely ill hours after eating here. For the review.... I ordered the fish and chips after being told that it was a good item here. It was awful! Overcooked on the outside and gummy/hard to chew on the inside, so I gave up after a few bites. I thought it was just overcooked, but who knows. I asked the server if I could have a burger instead, not wanting to risk the fish anymore. They came back and told me I would have to PAY for the fish in addition to the burger! Why? The owner has a policy that if you eat 1/2 the meal, you are not given the right to change your order, even if the food is bad. Did I eat half though? I ate the fries first because the fish was too hot to handle. I was hungry! I offered then to pay for the fries, they wouldn't allow it. Out of the 3 fish pieces, I ate 1/2 of the 1 piece. That is not 1/2 the meal. I wonder who's judgement call that was. They blamed the owner. I wonder if he set the precedent that the fries are half of the meal and don't give the customers a chance to turn back bad food. With this experience, it makes me think this happens more often, given they have to have this rule in the first place. I left hungry and paid for a full meal, well minus 10% (it still was not near worth paying 90% for inedible food). Great stop on the way to Mount Rushmore! The half order of nachos will feed four! They are loaded with everything but the kitchen sink! I've eaten here twice in the last week, which may not sound like much if I lived in Torrington. I live in Fort Collins, CO, a 2+ hour drive away. I am glad I found this place. Both times, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. Can't miss on the burgers and the chicken fried steak is one of the best I have ever had. I took my family in for Lunch, we waited to be seated according to social distancing measures. Our waitress was friendly, I ordered the BLT guac wrap, once food arrived I had a difficult time eating my meal as the bacon seemed under cooked & tasteless., & it was just a lump of guac in the bottom of the wrap. We went to pay for our meal and I showed my meal and explained I would pay for everything including the fries but I would appreciate a discount for the wrap, I paid and included a tip, but thought the amount seemed high for getting a discount. I went back in and asked and she said they gave me a discount of .80 cents. That is their military discount. I am not in the military, found my meal disagreeable & their ability to listen/ accommodate to their customers. read more

I love going here for the grilled chicken wrap. They never seem to put a lot of fries on my plate though which everyone knows is the best part. One certain waitress when I go here is so very rude each and every time and hardly comes to check on us or refill our drinks. Another time I went here I got steak nachos to go. When I got home and opened the box there were hardly any chips it was more like a salad with how much lettuce they put on it. My family and I came here on our way to Rapid City we asked for 3 different checks and the server said it was fine the food took a very long time but everything that we ordered came out wrong and cold we asked for the manager and she told us he was out off town she said that she was going to give us a discount but at the end she said she didn't know how to do it And had the courage to kick us out. It wasn't for the discount but we were charged with food we never ordered. She need to have a better attitude and Better costumer service and I think in a restaurant like that they should always have a manager in town. read more

There are only about 10 tables, so not sure how the staff could be so slow and inaccurate. If you are traveling thru, I would definitely recommend passing on this place. This place has its highs and lows. Now whether you get a high or low depends on the day I'm sure. The staff is apart of the issue. I've had times where I came across a super friendly waitress who really listens to your concerns and is all about fast and friendly service. There's been times where I've had multiple waitresses stare at us as if they were hoping not to wait on us. They turn out to be extremely rude with snotty attitudes and faces. No friendly gestures/smiles. Not our fault it's your job to be friendly. My experiences with waiters has been awful. The food here is pretty darn good. Really large burgers and a variety of them too. The wraps aren't half bad, and the gyro is just as tasty as anything I've had here. The fries is where they get stingy on. I seem to get no more than a few fries every time. The steak nachos will also depend on the day and cook as to if they are good or not. They overload them with too much lettuce and onions. More of a taco salad sometimes. Whether you go in on a good day or bad day determines the outcome of your experience. read more
