The potatoes had the same flavor, the sausage was a smoked sausage with an oily film of cold smoke soot. It was clearly obvious to anyone who has ever smoked meat that they were in the weeds. Maybe they just had a bad day, but they still served it. Hopefully they practice more and can identify when the smoker is smoking and not just choking the life out of a meal with soot.

It was Garage Day in Wakarusa so Nelson's was cooking in their home town. We picked up two 1/2 chickens and potatoes and headed home. Our photographer (who is also my friend) suggested Derald Gray and DG Visionaries, as she had shot a wedding he DJ'd. Although we had never met or spoken in person until 2 hours before the ceremony, Derald did a fantastic job of communicating. His app made it easy for the bride and groom to share a sense of who they are and what music they enjoy. From prelude music to the ceremony to the reception itself - Derald shone. He seemed to have as much fun as the guests and was out on the dance floor entertaining us. The music was not overpowering during the dinner (as it can be at weddings), but a great backdrop to conversation and good food. Although our families are not big dancers, he kept the party going till the end. I highly recommend using Derald and DG Visionaries for your wedding or other event! Added bonus: he offered us a 25% discount since it was a Thursday-night wedding.

Derald must do marathon training in his off days, there's simply no other explanation for how he's able to maintain the level of energy he has for 6 hours straight. After he DJ'd my wedding, I started reading other reviews for him - there are none lower than 5 stars across six different websites (the knot, google, facebook, yelp, weddingwire). That level of consistency is nothing short of amazing. Hire somebody different at your own peril.
