This place is a hidden gem! So cool! We got there and was quickly seated inside. Kind of bummed we didn't get to sit outside in the porch area but it was nice to get seated quickly on a Saturday night. We all enjoyed our delicious meals but if you're in a hurry, this isn't the place for you! It definitely took a while but was worth the wait. I got the pork chop and my wife got the steak sandwich. Got in just before the grill closed. I had the duck wife had tacos. Food was spicyer than wife normally eats but so well prepared she ate it. My potatoes were very very garlicky Local band was playing 69's 70's rock. They sounded nice and were a fun addition I would come again. Was here for rv repair. After a long day in non-air-conditioned offices, we were just hoping for something decent indoors. What we got was one of the best meals I've had -- anywhere. Let's talk about the food. I was initially bummed they didn't have a filet on the menu... but I got over that fast. The chefs here are magicians -- not in the frilly, overdone, "California experimental" way -- but in a way that blends flavors so thoughtfully it feels like each dish has a personality of its own. Surprising, delightful dinner with delicious food and a small town vibe. Blackened fish tacos were out of this world, with green beans and parmesan on the side. The fish had a little kick, was nicely seasoned and well-balanced with the lime and mango salsa. The beans were so fresh. Who knew a simple side of beans could be so delicious? Dessert was a tiny pumpkin stuffed with a thick filling. I wasn't a huge fan of the dessert, as the filling was too thick for my taste. However, the presentation was charming. I read some reviews saying service was slow. We experienced excellent service from the minute we walked in the door. Tyler was especially pleasant, and gave wonderful recommendations. The pace was perfect and added to an enjoyable evening. I plan to make a trip back from Chicago with this restaurant on my list. I'd like to try the duck or prime rib. read more

My first time at West on Warren, our group was really impressed with such a nice menu with so many interesting options. The ambiance is very pleasant and the decor is so cute and very Instagram worthy! Very cheerfully decorated. My Asian salad was very nice. I'm vegetarian and therefore have many salads when I go out to eat. I was really impressed how crisp and fresh my salad was, the dressing was delicious and not too thick or salty like so many salad dressings are sometimes. Our group also loved their dishes, the poke bowl beef dishes were very good, especially the carrot and potatoes that came with their meat dusted. Their menu changes and there are so many nice and interesting options. If you haven't been to this really cute restaurant in Middlebury do go, you won't be disappointed!! read more

Taking a fall getaway and was looking for dinner in the Middlebury IN area and was so glad to have found West on Warren. The meal was so delicious for my wife and I. My wife thoroughly enjoyed fish tacos with fries. I was so happy with a hot popper grilled chicken sandwich. It was on a delicious brioche bun. I enjoyed a house salad with wonderful balsamic dressing. We shared some great fries that were even better with an orange dipping sauce. My meal was not skimpy. I walked out full and happy. Street parking. A excellent location tucked back a block from the main drag. Ate on the patio that had sliding garage type doors that let in the clean fall air. Patio over looks a rock garden enclosed by a dark brown fence. What an excellent staff. Very friendly and they know the menu well. Our wait person Mary M. was superior. They greeted us cheerfully. This restaurant definitely has chefs in the kitchen. This made for a really memorable dining experience. Saw several items I would like to try. read more

Lovely little restaurant bar with really good food! I had the steak with truffle fries, minus the Alfredo sauce, and it was delicious! I sat out on the glass enclosed porch and watched the beautiful waterfall fountain, and it felt very peaceful. It happened to be the town's Fall Festival, and was a gorgeous day to walk around afterward. The service was friendly and great, the food was awesome, and the atmosphere comfortable. The house turned art gallery and restaurant with full bar is wonderful experience. We sat in the bar that has only a few tables because they said they were booked. He sat us inside, where it was freezing cold. Our server tried to help with the temp, as all guests were cold, but it was pretty still uncomfortable. The only downside is the speed of service which was very slow. We placed our appetizer and entree orders at the same time. It probably took 30 minutes to get appetizers. We attended a work dinner at West on Warren, which was my first time there- so I can't comment on a regular sit down experience. We were located in their indoor/outdoor area, it had good ambiance and a decent amount of space for our group. If the ceiling heater was on, you were very warm & if it was off, you were very cold. No happy medium. The food was served buffet style and everything we tried was good! I really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms and carrots, especially. Food was very good. Fried dill pickles are a longtime favorite. Had the fish tacos. Would definitely order again. And the fries were nearly perfect. Service was marginal at best, although it seemed to be our particular server. We were seated for over 20 minutes before she acknowledged us, and then it was only after we asked where our server was. She breezed by us, told us we she would be with us in a minute. Ten minutes later, she still hadn't appeared. When she finally came back, we ordered drinks (two Arnold Palmers, a soda and a water with lemon). We also ordered an appetizer. We were half way through our appetizer before our drinks arrived. She never acknowledged the wait, much less apologized. She was not the only server, in fact she was one of three, plus a bus boy and the hostess who was filling water glasses, so lack of help on the floor could not be an adequate excuse. Our food took awhile, but it was a busy night. I can easily deal with a backed up kitchen, if, in fact that is what was going on, but it didn't seem to be the case. After our food arrived, not once did she stop by our table to check on us, offer a refill on drinks or ask if there was anything else. Our busboy got us extra ice. We are all very good tippers. Tonight, not so much. I left an 18% tip. The night before, I left the server a well-deserved 30% tip. One thing we hadn't expected was live music. Although it was nice, it made it very difficult to talk, especially since the patio is loud, even without music. One of our party was in from Denver, another, although a local, had never been to W on W. We were very excited to bring our out-of-town guests to dinner here because it is usually such a great experience. The food was delicious! Everything was so fresh! I had the apple pecan salad and a cup of vegetable beef soup. Fortunately, I had room for dessert, which was a carrot cake drizzled with maple syrup. She explained to the waitress that she can't digest anything dairy (butter, milk, cheese) which was met with annoyance (like I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life). She asked that her vegetables be cooked without butter, which they were, but they were also covered in Parmesan cheese. WTF? Don't ask me how we stumbled upon this gem but we did! We stayed in Shipshewana for a Dustin Lynch concert at the Blue Gate this weekend and we were having a hard time finding a place for dinner. We walked in at about 5pm with about a reservation and got sat immediately at the bar (my favorite place to sit anyways). We saw the had bruschetta of the day. Olives, tomatoes and garlic oil. Freakin SO good! Everything on the cocktail menu looked fabulous so I asked the bartenders recommended. She suggested an old fashion so my husband and I went for it! Didn't dazzle me but didn't disappoint either. For our main entree I got a glazed pork chop over rice and beans with spicy bbq carrots! My husband got some kind of fish sandwich. -side not, I don't eat seafood so all I can say was his looked good but I can't speak on how it tastes. But MINE WAS SUPERB! I was also creepin on the lady next to me who got the Chorizo stuffed chicken.... Holy Crap. I almost had my order switched. Are you starting to understand that there is no bad food here? Lol Besides the fantastic food, I just want to point out the bartender (I wish I got her name) was a rockstar! She ran the bar and took orders effortlessly no matter how busy they were. We decided to try this restaurant since we're staying in Ligonier and shopping in Shipshewana. Pretty good restaurant for a small town although there are lots of tourists in this area to support it also. We sat in the small bar (2 two top tables, bar seats for 6) for drinks and dinner. It is Friday in the summer and folks have reserved the outside tables until quite a bit later. Our waitress did a great job, very attentive. We ordered drinks, good classic martini, decent gin and tonic. The bar selection is not huge, just fyi. We ordered some bruschetta to go with our drinks and ate a few of them but it was too sweet for us. The bread wasn't toasty enough and was soaked with the balsamic. I wouldn't get this again. Braised pork tacos for RRR, mushroom butternut squash risotto for me. His tacos, two of then, were very good, lovely pork with a nice mango pico de gallo topping. All the other reviewers are right, the risotto is amazing. Very creamy and rich with plenty of nice mushrooms and bites of butternut squash. The downside for me, it is too rich and the serving too large. I would suggest splitting and having a salad with it. Or take it home. The chef could go lighter on the cheese, which is in the dish as well as topped with goat cheese. Risotto should be creamy on its own and not need the addition of cheese. All in all, a nice place for dinner in a small town. read more

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. The place is super nice. Outdoor seating was ample and there is a deck above. We got to hear some local singer who was pretty good. Had a bit of sticker shock at the entree prices. The menus on yelp don't appear to be current ones. I had catfish dinner which included asparagus and polenta. It was $30. The fish was OK. Lots of tempura type breading and only I filet. Would have preferred two filets for the price. Burgers were around $18. The service was good we didn't have to wait long. read more

I will definitely be back here. My folks ordered and split an Achiote chicken wrap with beer battered fries. The order was so big that it really looked like two separate dishes, but they got on just fine with one to split. They went on and on about how good it was.... it looked good with guacamole and corn succotash I ordered a basic burger and added swiss cheese and of the 4 side options, fried, chips, soup, or salad, I, too, ordered the beer battered fries. Wow! First thing... I ordered my burger medium rare and it came exactly that. It was well seasoned, came with the accoutrements, and had a nice brioche bun. The fries were plentiful and fried to perfection, light and crispy. The secret sauce that comes with the fries is a SHOW STOPPER! AMAZEBALLS!! I could drink that stuff, spicy, tangy, but of garlic and other flavors. I will go back just for the sauce We all split a piece of rhubarb cheesecake and not a crumb was left.
