Tara took good care of me on my lunch break. Service was fast and friendly. Not too hungry so I ordered soup of the day and some grilled bread for dipping. Pleasant dining room which I chose over patio which would be good in summer but too cold for my liking in March! Chicken taco soup was very good. Definitely return some day!

First time going to the restaurant and it will not be our last. The service was outstanding and the food was just fabulous.

The gem that West on Warren is could be in any classy area in America: Chicago Orange County, Boston, Austin, Phoenix, Seattle, etc. Wonderful experience. Relaxing, welcoming, and the food is delicious. Every small town should have a place like this for some people to elevate themselves. It's different. Special.

Ugh where do I start everything was amazing, it was such a cozy spot to dine in at. It was my first time and not my last. I wish I had pics of our entrees but we did not spare one minute lol. Cocktails were super! Service was great! Outstanding first experience!

Surprising, delightful dinner with delicious food and a small town vibe. Blackened fish tacos were out of this world, with green beans and parmesan on the side. The fish had a little kick, was nicely seasoned and well-balanced with the lime and mango salsa. The beans were so fresh. Who knew a simple side of beans could be so delicious? Dessert was a tiny pumpkin stuffed with a thick filling. I wasn't a huge fan of the dessert, as the filling was too thick for my taste. However, the presentation was charming. I read some reviews saying service was slow. We experienced excellent service from the minute we walked in the door. Tyler was especially pleasant, and gave wonderful recommendations. The pace was perfect and added to an enjoyable evening. I plan to make a trip back from Chicago with this restaurant on my list. I'd like to try the duck or prime rib.

My first time at West on Warren, our group was really impressed with such a nice menu with so many interesting options. The ambiance is very pleasant and the decor is so cute and very Instagram worthy! Very cheerfully decorated. My Asian salad was very nice. I'm vegetarian and therefore have many salads when I go out to eat. I was really impressed how crisp and fresh my salad was, the dressing was delicious and not too thick or salty like so many salad dressings are sometimes. Our group also loved their dishes, the poke bowl beef dishes were very good, especially the carrot and potatoes that came with their meat dusted. Their menu changes and there are so many nice and interesting options. If you haven't been to this really cute restaurant in Middlebury do go, you won't be disappointed!!

Taking a fall getaway and was looking for dinner in the Middlebury IN area and was so glad to have found West on Warren. The meal was so delicious for my wife and I. My wife thoroughly enjoyed fish tacos with fries. I was so happy with a hot popper grilled chicken sandwich. It was on a delicious brioche bun. I enjoyed a house salad with wonderful balsamic dressing. We shared some great fries that were even better with an orange dipping sauce. My meal was not skimpy. I walked out full and happy. Street parking. A excellent location tucked back a block from the main drag. Ate on the patio that had sliding garage type doors that let in the clean fall air. Patio over looks a rock garden enclosed by a dark brown fence. What an excellent staff. Very friendly and they know the menu well. Our wait person Mary M. was superior. They greeted us cheerfully. This restaurant definitely has chefs in the kitchen. This made for a really memorable dining experience. Saw several items I would like to try.

Wow...excellent establishment with good tasting food! Our server was very now attended and had great recommendations. Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly! Baby red potatoes had great taste! Rum punch has a Caribbean flavor and oh so yummy! Oh yeah

Been here several times and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time wasn't up to par with our past visits. The young man at the host stand was not friendly. He sat us inside, where it was freezing cold. Our server tried to help with the temp, as all guests were cold, but it was pretty still uncomfortable. They were apparently very understaffed... service was terribly SLOW. Food and drinks were decent. Kind of a disappointing experience overall.

I'm glad they were open a little later than average. I was delighted to eat a smoked brisket burger. That thing must've been 6 inches high. It was a monster. My sweetie loved the fish tacos. They have an amazing wasabi, mayo sauce that goes with them. The middles split a prime rib Mac and cheese. They described it as "real American food" with a smile and a twinkle in their eye. That means it's delicious. It's actually a bacon prime rib, mac & cheese, and they don't even mention the bacon because the prime rib is so good. Very filling. I took a sample and it is probably the best tasting meat augmented mac & cheese I've ever tasted. The smokiness just does something amazing there. I like the background music. I like the barn, Midwest, rustic ambience. It was a delicious experience. I had to share about it online with some Japanese folks because of their recent enthusiasm for American "cheese violence". I asked if that magnificent burger qualifies as "meat violence".

I finally decided to try the Chubby Trout tonight…read more I was greeted by a couple of friendly and smiling faces at the door. I was Seated right away and introduced to my waitress, Taylor, immediately. Taylor deserves special accolades. She was so friendly and caring; she made my dining experience special. Thank you Taylor!! Taylor was awesome; she was friendly, always checking on me and sincerely concerned about my satisfaction. She was willing to do anything to make things right if I wasn't happy with something. First I ordered the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. Then I ordered off the specials menu; a Japanese spiced Branzino dish. The crab cakes were somewhat disappointing. Mostly filler and not much crab taste. Sometimes the taste actually resembled a tuna fish sandwich. The remoulade sauce that came with the crab cakes was really tasty. I wasn't really happy with the branzino dish. The fish was cooked pretty well, but "in my opinion" It had too much seasoning and the seasoning had an off flavor. Could just be my personal tastes. The restaurant has a lot of seating, little nooks and corners and a bar with seating. Plenty of quiet areas and areas to gather as a large group as well. Even though I didn't have great food choices today; I'm pretty sure while I'm in town this weekend, I'll go back and try some different dishes. See you all soon!!

Big Eyed Fish on Wells Street - when you have a craving for Fish & Stroh style fish and tarter…read moresauce Yes, I know that I could go to Stroh to get this old time flavor. However, Big Eyed Fish is pretty good fish in its own right, local...and flavored like the taste I remember from the past. We visited the Big Eyed Fish location on Well's street. They have an express shop located on Huegenard Road and another dine in location at Leo Crossing. This location has been in service since 2003. It has a nice diner feel with super friendly service. You can find parking on the street or in the lot behind the store. The inside is rather large and works well for parties up to about 8 diners. There is a small bar and TV's if that is your thing. They also have a big and varied menu including breakfast items. Here is a run down of the food items: -Fried Fish: the white fish fillet is thin and fried with a thin breading. The fish is moist and tender. It will flake apart with a fork or by hand. The breading has a slight amount of seasoning and isn't very oily to taste. It has a taste similar to the Fish & Stroh style if you are familiar with that. The fillets are not very filling. For an extra $3...I went with the all you can eat option. Delicious fish! -Tarter Sauce: I love tarter sauce. In fact I might order fish to go with my tarter sauce - lol. This mayo based sauce is reasonably thick, somewhat sweet and has a hint of pickle flavoring. It's creamy and makes a perfect complement to the fried fish flavor. -Baked Beans: this side really surprised me. The bean is small and contained hamburger pieces. The sauce had a slight BBQ flavor but not enough to classify it as a BBQ baked bean dish. The meat flavor was a nice add to the smooth tomato spiced sauce. Delicious!! -Cole Slaw: I kind of use KFC as the standard for Cole Slaw. This is very similar. The slaw pieces are cut very small with only one kind of slaw. Seemingly no additives - just slaw. The sauce is mayo based, a bit more sweet along with a hint of vinegar. I loved this side too! -Hush Puppies: these balls are pretty small in diameter. The inside is very modista and sweet with that southern style corn bread taste. The outside is thicker, a bit oily to taste and has a mild corn bread taste/texture. These are probably some of the best hush puppies I've had in my southern raised life.
