This was my first visit. Saw the shop on a Google search for "lather shaves." There was a way to contact via Facebook. The shop responded quickly to Facebook Messanger questions. Decided to forgo the haircut and have a classic, traditional, ole timey lathered-up straight razer shave. Grew-up at a time in 1960s Chicago where a fella could get a scissors cut, and the after stropping the razor, hot steaming towels, lather and straight-razor edging. Usually a nice smelling after shave of Bay Rum or something similar to finish off. Back then $1.10 took care of it all, plus a quarter tip! The shop itself had alot of classic elements which would have "Floyd the Barber" in TV's "Mayberry" feel quite at home! Brought back alot of good memories. read more

Super pissed off right now, came in to get a trim with a fade. 45 mins I'm still there and the lady cutting my hair did way more then what I asked of her. A lot of shaving took place that I didn't ask for ( although it was nice of her) and after all that was done, $39 for a simple haircut. No price on the window on in the shop itself. I got ripped off. Sports clips doesn't charge that much. I'm beyond livid and angry to a new level. UPDATE... called for the store owner and would rather give me $5 back with the simple fact that I was ripped off. read more

Was my first time there, so I booked online and selected any available - got Gaby. She was a nice lady. Unfortunately, my haircut was subpar (not blended that well) and then she took way too much off the front after I asked her to take a "little more". I also had my beard done - this was a complete disaster. She lined up the top and was uneven. She never spun me around so I could see myself up close, but it was so uneven i could see it from 15 feet away on the opposite mirror. The edger she was using seemed to be low quality. When I got home, I noticed that there was a huge chunk of hair missing from the bottom of my beard, to the point where I had to completely redo my beard after I just got done paying for Brook Hollow to do it. By far my favorite barber shop in all of Texas. Michelle does a fantastic job of making her customers feel relaxed and making them look good. All the barbers and stylists in this shop are awesome and friendly folk and it's always a good time in the shop. With online appointment booking and convenient hours this is the place to get a hair cut, a shave, or both of your in the San Antonio area. If you are looking for a great fade, ask for Albert. He's been cutting my hair for a few months now and I get compliments left and right. Expect the cut to take at least 45 minutes, but if you call ahead you can reserve a time so there is little to no wait! The have complimentary drinks as well, and most cuts end with a hot towel and straight razor neck shave. They also have people that specialize in women's hair, whether it's for a simple cut and style, or getting ready for prom. This is a wonderful neighborhood barber shop! read more

I went to get my hair cut and I found out all of the men were gone. Only the two women were left. Nacho cut my hair for years here. With three people sitting down I figured it would be a couple of hours before they could get to me. I guess the owner must be real hard to work for. read more

It was my first visit to the Brookhollow Barber Shop, and it sucked! I never did get a haircut, because I seemed INVISIBLE to the people working there. I walked in and took a seat. There were 3 barbers working and one eating his lunch. NO ONE greeted me - or even grunted at me. One barber (female) finished her customer, then got up and walked out the door; not so much as a "hello", or "welcome", or "someone will be with you shortly". A few minutes later, a man walked in (I assumed another barber), also ignored me, and sat in a barber chair and watched TV; also never uttering a word. I am 5'10" and 200 pounds, not easy to miss, sitting there. So, after ten minutes of anonymity, I stood up and walked out, just as "invisible", as when I walked in! UNBELIEVABLE! If their haircuts are as poor as their politeness, DO NOT GET A HAIRCUT THERE!! read more

Have used this barber shop since 1992. Have experienced it through 3 ownerships. Current owner and staff are exceptional. Nadine and Norma have been here for a long time. These ladies and a newer barber - Michele are exceptional. I'll only go to this shop. Norma has cut my hair since I started coming in '92. Remodeling is the shop by current owner is great. read more

I've gone twice for a back up haircut since i couldn't make my regular barber and both times Nacho took good care of me. He's an old school barber from the barrio and has cut hair at some old school spots around town. Price is fair as well. read more

Overall a great place. Usually not too busy depending on day/time of week. The women who work there are very friendly. Michelle is great and will take appointments. Someone is always cleaning up cut hair from the floor. Best place in town to get a flat top from Michelle. She is pleasurable and works quickly. On the expensive side but worth it to me. read more

Steer clear of this shop unless you're looking for a hackjob. The lady had no clue what she was doing, everything looked dirty and unsanitary. She cut my neck twice and caused me to bleed alittle bit. Fortunately another salon down the street was able to fix. Do yourself a favor and find another barber. read more

Not the worst haircut I have ever had, but the second worst. The cutter did NOT listen (or for that matter even ask) about how I wanted it cut. He just did it the only way he knew how. And it was (not just way too short) bad -- capital B. It will take me 6 months to grow enough hair to cut properly. AND it was WAY over priced.
