They never came out to see her as she was not there. I had to cancel the service and was still charged "per the contract". They charged me for two days of service even though the first week they were only going to see her one day (because per the contract they were going to start seeing her two days a week). The gentleman from billing that I spoke with (Joshua) was not empathetic nor very compassionate, all about the contract and what we signed. Not remotely caring that we were cancelling because she couldn't come home again. I would think carefully before hiring this company to care for your loved ones. They actually did not seem to care.

What most people need to realize, is the importance of building a relationship with the staff caring for your loved one. It is a team effort. This is a care facility. They cannot and should not be expected to give private duty nursing services. It is unrealistic for any facility to be expected to do this. You have to be willing to reach out to the staff and work with them. Come to them with concerns, but also realize a thank you goes a long way when you do this very hard work. I can't begin to thank the staff for the care dad received especially during his final days. I stayed with my dad to care for him and make sure he knew he was not alone. I believe that was my honor and duty, but this staff cared for me as well as my dad. The concern for my well being touched me to my core. I will not forget the compassion my father and I received by all the staff. The flower arrangement that was sent to the funeral home was so beautiful and very appreciated. Staff who became friends were there at the funeral home to support me and my family. Their concern did not stop as dad was taken from the facility. If you are looking for a facility to "team care" for your loved one, stop looking, the Lakes of Sylvania should be strongly considered. I will only refer folks to this facility.

The director, the nurses, the physical therapists, the chef, the cleaning department and various departments ALL provided the best of care possible. The communication which existed between Lakes of Sylvania and her family was also tremendous. Each day an updated Covid report was to be found in my email and a weekly video was posted to inform all families members of the events of the week. I was able the connect in person with the staff whenever I so desired. My dear one got the BEST of care and compassion from everyone within the walls of Lakes of Sylvania. I would give this campus my highest recomendation. I owe them my deepest gratitude.

This is not a nursing home, but it provides a nice place for seniors of modest means. There is a community room for group activities and a dining room. The food is excellent and gives you two choices for your main meal. Staff is courteous. There is also a coin laundry on premises. Tenants need to be 55+ and of limited income before being approved. Those who are able to walk can go to town or use a shuttle with scheduled stops.

The staff was always nice, but my mom simply didn't get cared for the way I would have expected her to be. She was sent to the hospital 3 times in 3 weeks, left in a Geri-Chair for 24 hours and days at a time and supposedly given a skin assessment but had a pressure sore pad on her butt from the hospital 7 days after being taken in. BE AWARE, this facility has no licensed staff members (no RNs or LPNs) as it is considered a non-skilled facility. I brought up the care concerns to the Executive Director who got upset with my verbiage and told me he would talk to the staff. He called me a few days later and we got into a heated argument with him stating he would just throw my mother out without having to wait the 30 days. Sure enough, he did. The facility sent my mother to the hospital for a UTI and while i was with my mother in the ER they called stating they would not allow her back into the facility. The Executive Director told me they couldn't care for my mother the way I had expected and if he did, he would have to send me a bill for $25,000-$30,000 a month. He also said, "as a man, you should get my wife inline" because she swore at him and he said she was disrespectful (the real reason he threw my mother out, IMO). As stated, the staff is very friendly, but management and the care provided is not where it should be. I absolutely cannot recommend this facility. I simply don't want others to go through what I did.
