The only way this place could stay in business is because there is lack of space elsewhere. They constantly raise rates and supply no additional service. They charge extra to take meals to the residents room. They find reasons to charge you, for repairs to your room after you move, even though the room needed the repairs before you moved in. ATTENTIVE, CARING AND COMPASSIONATE! Working for a third party company who frequented this building for the last 5 years, I can tell you this staff is amazing! I saw numerous accounts of personalized care through quality one on one interaction and individualized needs being met. Beyond the care and compassion for their residents, the staff was beyond friendly, courteous and welcoming to all those who came though the door. My grandma lives here. She really likes it. She says the food is really good. She likes playing bingo. The staff are nice.

Linden Square (Saline-Michigan) is a great organization to do business with. From their staff to their family run leadership team, all parties are in alignment. My dealings have been primarily with Laura, their community relationship specialist, who has done a wonderful job. Laura and the entire team truly listen to patients, families, and community partners. In doing so, Linden is able to build long lasting relationships with all parties involved. They also recently built a new addition, state of the art and beautiful. If you haven't visited Linden Square, I would strongly recommend you tour their center to experience their culture first hand. Cannot recommend... We moved our mom there on November 4 from an assisted living facility that did not have memory care. Mom calls out & was disturbing the other residents. I explained the results of the two previous trials of anti-depressants/behavioral meds and how they had gone horribly wrong. This was given to Linden Square as the reason for the move & they assured me they were very able to handle this. That they had training and experience to be able to manage mom's care. We found this to be incorrect. Upon her arrival, they requested that mom's PCP order Ativan to help with anxiety caused by the move. The PCP refused stating she did believe it would be good for mom. LS was then able to acquire an order through their house physician. (We had transferred mom's care to the house physician based on the LS recommendation that it would work better). Over the following weeks,Ativan and other 'behavior' medications were administered in increasing doses, all failing to improve mom's anxiety. Over the next few weeks the medications were increased to such a level that mom could not feed herself, or any other activities she had been able to complete prior to her move. My daughter visited just after Thanksgiving & found she could not rouse mom and she had non-reactive pupils (daughter is a nurse). Over this period, she lost control of her bladder, and bowels and lost weight down to 77 lbs. During all of this time I was asking that the medication be reduced reminding them that mom had previous bad experiences trying any type of these medications, and in fact, took very few medications before her move there. LS continued to administer increased doses and finally, in early December, when I once again requested the meds be reduced, they stated that she was on so many that they were uncomfortable reducing them in that setting; she needed to be admitted to a senior behavioral inpatient unit. Mom was moved to the hospital and for 12 days had her meds reduced/adjusted. When she returned to LS, she was back to walking, talking and feeding herself. The day after her return, my daughter visited and found her slumped over in her wheelchair, unable to swallow the food in her mouth. LS had administered an old medication in error. The disturbing part was not the med error, but the fact that no one noticed the sudden change in her status. Over the next weeks, we observed many deficiencies... mom was filthy. There was always food on her clothes. LS recommended a 'clothing protector' which we saw used a total of 2 times. The new care assessment stated mom was unable to walk and needed a 'gait belt' for transfer. One had not been seen prior to that time and was seldom used after. In fact, they most often had her parked in her wheelchair, with no access to her walker. I requested multiple times that she be allowed to use her walker... the physical therapist reported mom was able to walk and yet they continue to park her in her chair and keep her walker in the closet. They gave her laxatives twice per day and then charged us for her bowel incontinence. I asked repeatedly that the laxatives be used only to treat constipation, yet they continued. The food was often unidentifiable. At lunch, when a particularly unappealing plate appeared, my brother asked the aid what it was... she shrugged her shoulders and stated 'I don't know.' I saw an activity once... two semi-conscious residents were in wheelchairs around a table while 3 aids made pillows out of fleece material. On that day, mom was parked in the corner, near the TV which was playing pop music with the volume turned up very loudly. Her room and particularly the bathroom were filthy, with stool all over the toilet and the trash over flowing. One evening, when I arrived, mom was eating a sucker (I am sure to pacify her). During our visit, she set the sucker on the puzzle table in the common area. When we moved to her room, I forgot to pick it up and put it in the trash. My daughter visited the next evening and sucker was still in the very same spot. A bit less disturbing than the lack of care, had to do with the charges. Mom's care plan was reviewed upon her return from the hospital. This is very reasonable and expected, but it was not shared with us. The charge for her care more than doubled... retroactively... for a month when she was in the hospital for 12 days and we hired private duty to care for her for 8 of the other days she was at LS. We learned of this when we received the statement. At that time, after two written requests, we received a copy of the care plan, which included items not being done. Over all, there were no positives about the stay. I believe their intention is good, but the training and level of the staff are woefully inadequate. read more

My mother lived at Linden Square for over a year. It was an amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond for my mother and I can't thank them enough for helping my mother keep her quality of life until her last days. I would recommend Linden Square to anyone as a great place to put a loved one. read more

We brought our father to this facility for assistance in helping him manage his day to day needs. He was soon transfered over to the memory unit where he was left in his room all day with very little contact from the staff. Staffing is very inadequate for a lock down unit. We were told if they were to give him a shower it would be an additional $400 per month. They also stated they would have to charge $600 more each month to lay out his clothes each morning and get him for daily meals. When we pulled our father out of there they were charging him over $5,000.00. The nursing staff seemed very young and at times uncaring. When we walked in every day the patients would be lined up in front of the TV with no one around at times. Staffing at night was even worse for both units - assisted living and the memory units. We have pulled our father out of this facility. I would not recommend this facility especially if your loved one needs to be monitored 24/7. The only one that seemed to care about my father on a daily basis was Stephanie from house keeping, go figure. Some houses are beautiful on the outside, but terrible on the inside. It is my opinion that a young LPN does not have enough experience or qualifications to be placed in charge of a facility of this nature. Either my sister or I were at the facility at least once every day during the eight months that our father was a resident. This is just my own personal opinion of what I observed while my father was a resident at this facility. read more
