Not bad, not great. The service is friendly but I was not a fan of the wait. Though I suppose that speaks to a successful business!

I've been a resident of Brookfield for over 20 years, and my husband and I were loyal customers of…read moreShipShape Cleaners for many of them. Unfortunately, things changed dramatically after the store came under new ownership, and we no longer patronize the establishment due to the disappointing customer service we've experienced. In January, I brought a pair of white linen pants to their second location--Ying Wah Laundry at 411 Main Street in Danbury, CT--to be laundered. To my surprise, they were sent to ShipShape in Brookfield for dry cleaning. I didn't need them until May, since white linen isn't exactly winter attire in the Northeast. But when I took the pants out to wear in May, I discovered the RL gold buckle was missing. I returned to the Main Street location and was informed that the pants had indeed been sent to Brookfield. I raised concerns about both the missing buckle and the poor quality of the cleaning. In June, I visited the store twice and was told the owner would contact me--but she never did. July arrived with no calls, no updates. I returned yet again and asked to speak with the owner, Arpi. I expressed my frustration, and she promised to look into it. Once again, she assured me she'd call me back, and once again, I heard nothing. On July 14, a staff member finally called, telling me to pick up the pants--but she didn't clarify whether they'd be in Danbury or Brookfield. Assuming they'd be at the Brookfield location, I stopped by, only to find they weren't there. I'll now have to make yet another trip to Danbury to retrieve them. To make matters worse, I've received voicemails from Arpi that are harassing in tone. She insists I wore the pants; despite the poor job her store did. She outright refuses to replace the buckle or accommodate my request. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior. To anyone considering using this cleaner: beware. What was once a dependable business has turned into a nightmare. Sadly, while Arpi may be chasing the American Dream, what she's offering the community is anything but.

I've actually been unable to get the smell OUT of some clothes so I stopped going there, because it smells like old lady perfume or something and is strong. Once, I did my sheets there and had to re-do them all, because my bed smelled like a herd of old ladies or weird white ladies with bad taste from department stores were sleeping in it. I used to always go to the other one on Main Ave. -- which has a severe lack of washers because the staff uses them and does not care if there are none for customers and will let stuff sit in dryers for a considerable amount of time, even if people are waiting to use them. They suggested East Ave, and like I said, great facility, great people, but I don't understand the perfume smell. If it happened once, I'd not complain -- but it happened more than once, and I really don't like the time waste of doing laundry as it is, so having to do it twice is just painful to me. Maybe they'll look into it. I know I have a bit of a wolf nose, but it IS strong and my husband noticed it, too, since I never smell like old white lady.

But since I needed to make a Costco run (and I'd mentally prepared myself for it) I decided to visit the east side Kohl's off of Federal Road. After this one-time experience , I think I'll stick with the one in Brewster. The outside of the store is kind of messy and looks like it's not maintained....it could literally be abandoned and you wouldn't tell the difference. You walk in and it's a standard Kohl's, only more tired and flatter. I know that may be hard to picture but when you go to the Brewster Kohl's and walk in, there's always a bright, seasonal display that is very welcoming and puts you in the mood to shop. Here, it was just a mess of carts haphazardly sitting around in the entry and some luggage that I wasn't sure was on display or was just waiting to be stocked. The selection was okay and they had stock, but there were a few areas that it looked like stocking had started but then been abandoned halfway through. Like boxes and carts and ladders just sitting in aisles and between racks. Not a big deal and maybe they're gearing up for back to school but just a little messy. What was the least appealing thing about this place is how long it takes to check out. We were the second people in line and just wanted to purchase one pair of swim trunks. It took a long time and there were no self service options such as they have at Brewster. Some dude had a complex return apparently so it took three cashiers several minutes to resolve that while the line kept growing. Then when we got to the cashier, he seemed really burnt out, which I can get and I empathize with. So a self-service option would have been quicker and a better experience. Anyway, the key takeaway from this review is that if you're in the greater Danbury metro area, take a ride on 84 West to Brewster and check out the Kohl's near the Southeast train station.
