I would not recommend Brookhaven KinderCare in Gurnee, IL. We ultimately withdrew our child due to repeated concerns around care, communication, and leadership. Despite clear conversations and expectations, decisions about my child's care were made without parental consent or advance communication. More concerning, the center repeatedly appeared to be out of compliance with Illinois state child-to-teacher ratio requirements. On several occasions, I picked up my child soiled, which is unacceptable in any licensed childcare setting and suggests a lack of adequate staffing and supervision. When these concerns were raised, the response from center leadership was dismissive and unprofessional rather than solution-oriented. There was little accountability, collaboration, or willingness to address issues proactively. Childcare requires trust, transparency, and partnership with parents. Daycares are hard to choose. As a mom, i am terrified to make the wrong choice and expose my baby to bad people. As a single mom, I have to make that decision all alone. Deciding to start my daughter here over a year ago was a decision I never regretted. At 3 months old, my daughter probably didn't have a preference but she instantly took to her teachers. She wasn't worried when I left and enjoyed being here. I got a call halfway through her first day to let me know she was ok and update me. Over the past year, this staff has gone above and beyond for my children. From allowing my older daughter to attend for the week between school and summer camp, to being a smiling face when my kid has a full diaper from the car ride and is screaming. They have communicated with me over and beyond. Now that my daughter is over 1 and has preferences, she loves it as well. She comes in every morning ready to wave as she is greeted by not only her current teachers but her past reaches as well. Her little face lights up and she is smiling from ear to ear. My desk is covered with pictures of her in activities and arts and crafts projects she has done. The price of daycare is astronomical! But I always feel like I got my money's worth at this Kindercare. I would recommend it to anyone!!! read more

Hello all, I received a notification that the director of the daycare had replied to my review. I'm not sure who Racheal is. I called the number to follow up on what was posted and it doesnt dial it just hangs up. Not sure why someone would reply to me with a false number. Definitely doesn't sound legit. Would NOT recommend this place to any parent who cares about the wellbeing of their young and here's why My wife and I enrolled our daughter into this hell on earth Day 1 my daughter comes home with a massive bruise on her head when we asked the "hard questions" such as "what happened"not a single person gave us an answer we went to the director and they said oh she fell and bumped her head now having a toddler I was understanding and we continued with them after the director instructed us a retraining will be administered to staff Week 2 we go pick up our daughter who was in the room screaming her head off I knew it was her as soon as we came into the building I went and picked her up she stops crying I asked what's going on the staff member said I don't know we changed her fed her and tried to put her down for a nap but she was crying all day... later that night it was bath time for her she kept saying owwie on her arm so I took a look and to my amazement some kid bit my daughter to the point that she was bleeding and nothing was done I talk to the director the next day and she informed me "oh we have a child that bits in that class we're working with him" and we apologize about the incident. Week 2 day 3 I show up unannounced to see if I can see my daughter they inform me she's asleep I said that's fine I go see her she is sleeping under a blanket in a thick coat long sleeve shirt a hat with pants and boots. NOT OK sids people sids "sudden infant death syndrome" is real and they clearly don't recognize that I grabbed my kid and all her things and left and I will never bring my kid or any kid to this place all they Care about is if you pay you outrageous fee weekly 309/week for just 1 kid that's 1236 a month so SCREW them never again read more

omg wow!! with the pas reviews i have read... any ways omg i love Brookhaven Kinder care its has been so good for my kids they love it i drop and pick them up all at different times so sometimes the teachers are not even expecting me i always find my baby boy playing with hiss little friends or taking a nap out of all the times i have found him crying maybe once and just because the bottle was being wormed his teachers are great and i love how much they love my little boy always so happy to great him at his arrival they get him ready for breakfast and he seams to know the routine and is just so happy there every time i drop him off he gets so exited and when i do not take him i feel him miss it with three kids its hard to always sit down and play with him but he knows that at kinder care they are ready to sing and play and laugh. and the teachers never miss to let them make a special gift for mom and dad on holidays it lovely to have something to hold on to as your kids grow older(my son 11 months)..my daughter is a preschooler and boy does she love that place she is smart and such a great girl and her teachers are awesome i talk to all the staff and i have never had a bad moment my daughter tells me all that she does and they always seam to keep her busy she loves the arts and crafts she gets to go outside more than once and she loves it she gets snacks and lunch and breakfast my daughter has had a couple accidents at the preschool but i have always been told about what has happened and what they did to help all of the teachers are great and i appreciate them for doing what they do they take care of my kids when i'm at work its like a second home to them and they see it that way my daughter dos not even want to go to kindergarten and wants to stay here instead some of the kids there are a handful i have seen some really bad meltdowns just because they do not have there way.. remember parents your child's actions and behavior should be taught at home...and plus the office staff is always so understanding!!! love this day care in the 8 to 9 months there i have never had a problem... read more

i love this daycare.! it was the first daycare my children attended. the infant teachers which were with my daughter, are the nicest. My son who was in the toddler room did have a little trouble adjusting but the teachers did the best they could in helping him out. since then he has grown to love the teachers every time i go pick my children up the teachers are interacting with them. my son is always happy and running around with the other kids. my son was a little behind in speaking he has advanced so much since being with this daycare. my daughter who started at 6 months and is now 11 months has adjusted very well. the teachers and directors are very caring and any time there was an incident i was advised as soon as possible. i have grown to love this daycare and consider them like family ! unfortunately we have moved and the daycare is too far of a drive so i will be switching them to a closer kinder care i hope my children can do as good as they have done here. it breaks my heart to move on somewhere else. i highly recommend this place especially if it is your first time putting your children in daycare ! read more

I toured this place under a different director and it was amazing. Over the next 2 years I saw it fall apart. It is awful. The directors are a joke and seem to only care about a comfortable office redecorated annually and managing numbers for their annual bonus. They put nice stuff in the entryway and leave the classrooms needing for supplies. They refused my care requests numerous times resulting in untrained staff for our special needs and her needs not being met. Unfortunately, I think the center is heavily weighted with kids on assistance and parents who feel like they can't demand better. The teachers make less in a year than I paid in for my one kid alone. They don't care about their staff, treat them like crap, and their MO appears to be run the kids ragged vs following a curriculum. My kid was so over stimulated when she got home she wouldn't play, and only wanted to cuddle. Now we are in a much better situation and everyone, especially the kiddo, are so much happier. I understand the one on Grand and 45 is eons better. Just don't! read more
