I brought my dog Ollie here for a routine neuter, and it ended in the worst experience of my life. When I called to check on him after surgery, the staff couldn't give me a clear answer about his condition. They also didn't know he had a retained testicle when I had previously spoken to them on October 29 about him having a routine testicle anyways When I picked him up, he was bleeding and I was told this was "normal." When It wasn't. Later that night, the bleeding continued to the point it was gushing and an emergency vet informed me it was not normal and that he needed immediate care. Despite everything we did, Ollie ultimately passed away due to the complications and lack of proper postoperative guidance. I trusted this clinic with my pet's life, and their negligence cost him everything. No owner should ever have to go through this. I hope they take accountability and improve their standards so this never happens to another family. I came here last week with my 9 month old shih tzu who was coming in to get spayed. 15 minutes after the surgery we get home and I notice that she's bleeding excessively from her wound. So I bring her right back, the dr had lifted her up aggressively that her stitches had come out and she had to go under anesthesia once again. They prescribed a 12 pound dog half a pill of 15 mg of meloxicam which is an INSANE amount once I went to a different vet they sounded so concerned about her and immediately had to give her a blood test because she was throwing up every single day after surgery. I'm writing this to share my personal experience -- not to bash this place, but to be honest about what happened in hopes it helps someone else. My Pom, Leo, was only one year old when he passed away about a week after being neutered here. When he started getting sick, we took him back, and they gave him an antibiotic and a hydration pack. When we asked what could be wrong, the lady said she didn't know. What concerned me most is that they're considered a hospital and perform procedures like neutering, but they don't seem to have the proper diagnostic tools or equipment to determine what's wrong if a pet has complications afterward. In hindsight, Leo should've been referred to an emergency hospital for IV treatment instead of just being sent home. I can't say for certain what caused his passing, but I had a gut feeling when I dropped him off -- the way he was picked up by his harness didn't sit right with me, and I wish I had listened to that instinct. Leo was only a year old, full of love and life. Losing him has been incredibly hard, but I just want to share this experience so other pet parents can ask questions, trust their instincts, and make sure their pets get the best care possible read more

I have been diligently calling for 3 weeks. Unfortunately there are none as usual. It has been 3 weeks, my one year old puppy is limping and I cannot take her for much walking. She is so bored staying at home. One day I was working around the house, I didn't realized she sneaked out. We were able to get an appointment for my rabbit's spay after they had a cancellation. Called a little bit before 9 am and they had an opening available! The process was simple. You fill out paperwork, drop her off and come pick her back up later in the day. Super easy. Typically hospitals require a checkup prior to the surgery, but they check if they're all good for surgery prior to the actual procedure. This hospital is known to be affordable with reliable pricing. I called over 20+ hospitals for pricing for a spay and the minimum i got was around 300-1200. As a college student, those were prices were out of my price range and i was happy to be able to have my bunnies surgery here/The cost of the procedure was discounted and was around $120 which is what they quoted me over the phone. When receiving quotes from other hospitals, the estimates remained inconsistent from the ones they gave me the phone. But brookhaven offers a firm price for their services. We were given pain meds after the surgery with post care instructions. I had no complications with my pets recovery and she was back to normal self by the 2nd-3rd day! she is happy and playing once again :) definitely would recommend for anyone who is looking for affordable vet services! read more

called around so many vets to find an affordable price for dog spay. many vets were charging anywhere from $200-$400 on average. Brookhaven was charging my 16lb female pup for ~$130. the only catch was that they were booked out until like april 2023. what they told me though was to call back 8:30am on weekdays to see if they have cancellations. i had to do this for a few days until i finally got lucky. if you decide to do this, make sure your pet does not have any food or water from 9pm the night before to 9am in case you do end up getting lucky and your dog is able to get spayed/neutered. they were really nice and friendly. they gave us medicine for her for the next 3 days. They don't provide cones which is fine because I had already got her a soft cone. read more

My dog almost DIED she went in for a bladder stones removal called in to check up on her the front desk lady said she was doing fine and that she would be ready To go home at 5pm the same day. When arriving the front desk lady gave me a small jar of my dog stones that the dr remove and some pain medication to give to my dog. I find it so odd that the DR doesn't give u a call and also she's never available in person if u got any concerns or questions regarding ur dog health the front desk lady seems to be the one doing all the work For her. I took my female cat to get spayed, microchipped & one of her vaccinations that she needed for under $150 . This is honestly probably the best place to go to for any of your pets needs . It's so affordable & the staff is so nice . They took great care of my kitty . You won't find another vet that has affordable prices . You'll most likely be paying $400-$800 for your cat to get spayed at any other place . The only catch is they get extremely booked so I would make an appointment asap . I waited 3 months to get in but it was completely worth the wait . I heard if you call in the morning at 9am , they will take you in if they have a no show or cancellation. We took our seven month old rabbit here to be neutered and it was a great experience! We had to wait for COVID to calm down to be seen so he was about 6 months at the time of his surgery. The staff was always friendly and helpful from the first appointment call, answering any questions about the procedure and fully explaining after care procedures and recovery expectations. There aren't many vets who care for bunny's so finding this vet with such great reviews was a huge relief! Our bunny recovered quickly and was bouncing around almost immediately after. He was given some Metacam for pain and swelling and he took that without any problems. Have been going here for years for my dogs, bunnies and now recently, my rat terrier/chihuahua mix, Pluto and finally writing a review because they have saved me SO MUCH STRESS AND WORRIES. First off; they've always been so affordable, easy to make appts and have friendly staff that explain everything and are super patient with my bratty and bitey dog. Been taking him for 6 years for routine vaccinations and care. A week before Christmas 2018 though, I found that Pluto recently lost a tooth and was PANICKING. Saw that his gums were blackened around the missing tooth and really wanted to get it resolved ASAP but knew it would be IMPOSSIBLE at this time... Brookhaven came through with a lucky opening after Christmas for a dental extraction/care and after a week of worrying, dropped him off with a light heart. Poor baby came out with 8 teeth extracted due to a gum infection/bad teeth (I'm so sorry for my neglect, Pluto!!!) but overall very healthy, albeit amusingly woozy from the anesthesia lolol Overall cost: $330 for anesthesia, 8 teeth extraction, a full dose of antibiotics, and his extracted teeth in a tube (they do a great cost breakdown) and a happier dog with no more bad breath. Perplexed to how this place has such high reviews! That was how I got tricked!! Came here for my chihuahua's teeth cleaning! They took forever and was unusually slow and uninspired to do anything with enthusiasm here! It is like a place with people under some sort of spell! The huge fish tank in the lobby is filthy with running yellow water, should've known if that's their fish tank, that's how they treat the rest of everything else! My experience with them was very frustrating. True what others that said the Vet barely looked at my dog! She stood in a corner as if she was afraid touch my dog..if you don't like animals, why are you a vet!? Also the office staff was another story! They gave me a time to bring my tiny dog in! Basically only one set time for all the dogs to be dropped off super early in the morning with no food or water. Promised she would be done by noon and call by then to check for status. Called and the guy took forever to go check the status of my dog and said she's still waiting to be seen. I asked when and how many would be taken out he said how there was no way he can tell me. Ok understandable. Told me to call in about 2 hours she should be done by then. Mind you this went on for 3 more times and by this time it was 6pm and the guy still had the nerve to say I'm such an impatient person and that my dog should be fine! Mind you at 6pm the Vet still hasn't even seen my dog!! And I asked him my dog hasn't gotten food or drink since the night before as they asked, if he can give me dog some water. He said he would do it but said I need to chill! (How do I know if he actually gave my dog water?!) I had it and had to call my dad to go pick up my dog! And guess what, they came to pick her up around 7pm, by then Vet still hasn't seen her and the staff guy, he still had the nerve to tell my parents that I need to learn how to be patient! Wow!! Excuse me for being an animal lover and did not want my dog to suffer. Long story short I took my dog to another place and she had to have 6 teeth pulled out and had to have anesthesia. The other place finished her procedures by noon and kept her until 2pm to monitor her health from the surgery and any possible side effect. If I had left my dog at this Brookhaven place, I would've had to take my dog home probably after 8pm and what if she got reaction from the meds or surgery? What would I do then! Take her to Animal Hospital emergency? Which would cost me thousands!!!! I needed to find an animal clinic that would take appointments. I thought I would check out Brookhaven. They not only excepted appointments, but took walk-ins as well. I went there to have my dogs ears looked at. I noticed it was so dirty and so unorganized. There were no supplies stocked or anything there that would indicate they could do an exam. The doctor walked in and looked like she did not even want to come near my dog. Without even looking in her ears, she gave me a YouTube link so I could go home and clean them myself. I asked if they could take her back to look at her ears and clean them. When I got my dog back, her ears were so gooey and gunky and dirty inside from whatever they put in. I left in tears. This is a great place to spay or neuter your pet or get them vaccines. They do all kinds of animals. I have neutered guinea pigs and rats there. I took my rabbit there over a month ago for an illness. Every one else was booked. It was either here or the emergency room which no one can really afford. Vet said he had pneumonia. She mentioned he was in bad shape and that she could put him down for me. I was stunned. Who jumps to that so quickly? I, of course, opted for the treatment which was two antibiotics a day for ten days. He recovered beautifully and continues to live with his bunny mate. Reasonable price. However, I will never return to this vet for anything serious again. When the time does come to put my beloved rabbit down I will not be taking him here! This vet will not allow you to be with your pet or take them home to be buried or to show the other rabbit they died (extremely important with bonded bunnies!) How do I even start. I went to this place by recommendation because of their low prices but you definitely get for what you paid for. First and foremost the place is disgustingly filthy and so are the staff uniforms. I used the restroom and it smelled like someone died. Talk about COVID 19 safe. Anyway back to my initial concern is well I took my baby kitten to get vaccinated and the female "vet" had me in the room asking me to hold my kitten down. I was so scared to see him scared and he got angry. I did not know I was suppose to even hold him down and I was not prepared. I then went back to take my elderly dog to get seen because he got hurt and I needed him to get seen for his limp. The Vet was so passive aggressive as if she was not even concerned about his issue. No medication was prescribed or recommended. What made me more upset was when I asked the receptionist if they actually document the weight of animals in their system and she said, "Well, we are suppose to". Like are you kidding me? So then they needed to check one more thing with my dog and I walked out crying because I felt this horrible vibe like they were not going to even help him or even care for my dog. I decided to get my wallet to just pay the fee and the woman runs out after me thinking I was not gonna pay. I decided to go to my usual place in Costa Mesa - Family Animal Hospital and I do not plan in going back here in Garden Grove. I do not recommend this place. I came home to the news that my family members had just dropped my kitten off at the emergency vet hospital due to complications post spaying (that was done at this place). For context me and my girlfriend have two kittens from the same litter. We took them to get fixed about a week apart. The day of our first cat's surgery, the kitten was needed to be rushed back because her stitches came undone. I thought this was just a sad accident. Luckily she ended up being fine. As of this review she is still in the healing process. Our second cat seemed to be healing okay until tonight as we noticed he stitches had come undone and she was bleeding leaving her intestine revealed. She is currently in an emergency pet hospital undergoing surgery. I'm now sitting here kicking myself for not reading these reviews. It seems that other people have very similar reviews to mine. (Side Notes - the staff is super friendly). EDIT) - now after getting advice from two other places. It seems that the materials used were poor/old and the stitching wasn't done effectively.
