She has good experiences here as well as Ozzy ( though Ozzy is scared of everything, she managed to overcome her fear here so yk the staff are very gentle) If you're curious, prices here are affordable/ reasonable to me. After many years of sharing my life with cats (including some wonderfully opinionated and very shy ones), I can honestly say Dr. Ash is the best veterinarian I've ever had. Around our house, he's simply known as The Cat Whisperer. Somehow he has this magical "Dr. Ash method" that can calm even my most nervous, difficult cats. Cats that normally hide, hiss, or make everyone work for it seem to trust him. I still haven't figured out his secret! What really sets Dr. Ash apart is the time he gives every patient and every pet parent. He never makes you feel rushed. He explains blood work and treatment options in incredible detail, answers every question, and has even called me in the evening to personally discuss test results. That level of care and dedication is almost unheard of. I also want to recognize his amazing staff. Raquel, Andrea, and everyone at the clinic are always so kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Whether they're drawing blood, collecting urine samples, trimming nails, or giving one of my cats a sanitary trim, they handle each cat with such compassion and professionalism. This lace is phenomenal. Dr. Ash is truly an amazing vet. He treated my Yorkie Rocky for 6yrs. FYI: Dr Ash is very careful with medicines prescribed to your animals. He does not listen to pharma company and their dosing chart. He calculated what Rocky needed for Cushing's disease and honestly Rocky responded to 5 mil. I had been in a group for animals with Cushing's and the lowest dose was 40mil. 60mil was the average. Be aware and proactive with your vet. I asked Dr. Ash why he calculated the doses. He said, "I worked in emergency room and has seen too many dogs come in for overdosing. That was yet another reason I trusted him. He cares and all his staff is trained to be amazing. Dr. Ash can not handle all the people that want to take there pets to him. He has another vet whom he does make sure any vet that works with him must have the mentality, qualities and over the general work and care ethic he posses. Remember if you are actually accepted as a client know that being scheduled with the vets in the office doesn't mean Dr. Ash isn't involved in your dogs care. He oversees all in her s office at UVC. Wonderful Vet. We were new clients as we had just moved to the area and without a vet. We got referred to Dr Ash by friends who praised him highly so we chose him as our new family vet. We recently had a senior cat who ended up passing away from what we believe was a form of Cancer, but Dr. Ash and staff were absolutely wonderful in caring for him while we got him some hydration and blood tests before ultimately deciding our boy deserved peace. I've been a dog owner all my life and have noticed a consistent decline in veterinary services that included constant misdiagnoses of my dogs' issues. As a result, I kept switching providers in search of someone who did not get their medical degree from Phoenix University. I am so glad I didn't just settle for the inadequate care that is generally provided by veternarians and was able to be added to Dr. Ash's client list. Dr. Ash is not only personable and extremely knowledgeable, but when speaking with him, I really feel like he cares and is honest. With past veterinarians, no matter how minor the issue was for my visit, I always felt like I was in a high-pressure sales situation where the outcome would be death to my pet if I wasn't willing to spend hundreds, if not thousands, on testing and medication that turned out to be unnecessary for my dogs, except when it actually needed. I recently visited Dr. Ash again because my dog had the most violent, nasal burning diarrhea, and even though he was fully booked, he let me come in as an emergency drop-in. After providing medicine that completely resolved my dog's issue and saved my rugs from further destruction, Dr. Ash called me at 8 PM to provide the results of my dog's fecal test. He could have had someone on his staff call me the next day, but that's the kind of vet he is--he works late so that his patients don't have to wait for test results. Well, I can see why this is a Five Star vet. We were referred by my husband's co-worker so I called to see if I could bring in my pup pup because I suspected he had an ear infection. Fortunately, they were kind enough to squeeze us into their already full schedule. Dr. Ash examined my pup and was so thorough in going over some observations he noticed and gave me a detailed overview of what the ear issue was being caused by seasonal allergies. It's time I update this review. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my animals. After 7 years of seeing Dr. Ash, he has gone from caring for my then only dog to 4 dogs and 6 cats. He helped me care for my aged and dying cat with the most compassion and dedication. His whole teams works tirelessly and really truly cares about our animals. This is a long overdue review but I've never stopped thinking about what I should say. I absolutely adore the staff here at UVC! My dog is reactive and very weary of strangers. The staff at UVC made it comfortable not only for my dog but also for me! They knew his limits and were willing to work with him. I admit, I was dreading this appointment because of his poor history with vets but the staff at UVC immediately made me feel at ease with the lengths they were willing to go for him. I unfortunately cannot recall the name of the vet he came to see but she was amazing! She was patient with him and with us! His vaccinations administered by the techs was also a painless experience. UVC is an incredible vet clinic and I HIGHLY recommend them. They've taken incredible care of my cockapoo Penny for the past 7 years or so. Their prices are fair and I never feel rushed with them. I'm definitely a paranoid dog mom and Dr. Ash and Dr. Hernandez have been nothing but informative, patient, and honest with us! They've helped Penny through her arthritis and IVDD flare ups and her recent bout of pancreatitis. The front desk and vet techs are amazing as well and I can tell they love and care for her. They even reach out to answer questions and check on us during off hours and weekends if needed, especially when she's had a critical health emergency. I have no doubt that they have Penny's best interests in mind and that means so much to me as she ages. They are at full capacity and for good reason! They have an amazing veterinary team, but this does mean that you do need to book out a few months in advance for appointments. This isn't really an issue for us since I'm very on top of booking ahead, and they generally are available for any emergencies as they arise. Penny is in amazing health for an 11 year old dog, and it's really all thanks to the amazing care UVC has given her as she ages. The bad reviews that UVC gets doesn't even make any sense. First of, if you've never been seen and you're complaining about them being at full capacity, don't leave a bad review go find another reputable vet and move on. This place is the only place that I truly trust with my pets. Dr. Ash and Dr. Hernandez have always gone above and beyond for all of my pets. And I can truly say that because I've been going to this clinic for YEARS. They truly are on top of their vet care game and they will do anything and everything to make sure your pets are taken care of efficiently. They also take their time explaining everything to the most tedious details so nothing is ever up in the air or confusing for you when it comes to your pets care plan. The techs are amazing too, they handle my shepherd really well even though he's very anxious and over protective of us, they take their time and make sure he doesn't feel extra stressed and I really appreciate that as a pet owner. So yes they maybe at full capacity but now that they have Dr. Rodriguez they'll probably have more openings soon. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a primary vet team. Both Dr. Ash & Dr. Hernandez are the best vets I've had! Very caring, highly skilled (Dr. Ash did Jerry's BOAS surgery. Dr. Hernandez removed a foxtail burr from his paw) and great bedside manner. Plus their staff is equally amazing. Every time I go in, I am amazed at how well everyone communicates and works together as a team. Even though they are always super busy (a testament to the quality of their work) they somehow manage to make time for every "emergency" Jerry has, and everyone always takes good care of him. Dr. Ash is hands down the best vet I have ever had the pleasure of taking my dogs to. I've seen him build up from a one man show to the most popular animal hospital in the area, and remain humble and kind. The staff is all wonderful and friendly, the office is clean, and he makes sure my babies are calm and comfortable throughout the process. We recently had our two dogs dentals done, and one spayed. The cost was very reasonable- yes there are low cost clinics out there, but I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pups. Three years later and University Vet Center is still a genuine 5/5 stars. I really can't hype up Dr. Ash enough. One of my dogs has had so many health issues (throwing out his back, allergies, bloody stool, potential cancer, glaucoma, and more!) and Dr. Ash has nailed each and every diagnosis and treatment plan. I've never wondered, "Could it be something else?" because Dr. Ash is *that* good. Also, he really cares. Like... he will call me back at 9pm because I left him a voicemail after hours and he was worried about my dog. I really can't recommend him enough. His knowledge, skill level, and level of care is unmatched. His staff are all wonderful as well. I usually see Raquel and Destiny when I'm there. Raquel is fantastic. Friendly, efficient, professional, personable - all the things I'd love for my front office staff to be as a healthcare provider and a patient. Destiny takes care of my other dog (no health issues - just my crazy child). He's a nightmare when it comes to grooming his face so we have to take him to the vet. She does a great job each and every time. Despite how busy they always are, they've always had time to take in every "urgent visit" my dogs have needed over the years. I'm SO SAD that we moved out of state because frankly, I don't think I'll find another veterinary care like the care that the staff at UVC provided..... & trust me when I say I'm sad like I'm GENUINELY SAD. The UVC team (front desk, techs, Doctors... all of them!) always made Teeto feel welcome and cared for, especially when times were rough and he had developed an eye ulcer in combo with his glaucoma that had gotten especially gnarly. Dr. Hernandez always answered all my questions in detail, followed up my calls, managed to squeeze us into her busy schedule when his eye has gotten REALLY bad & I was frantic, and handled 2 surgeries (tooth extraction & eye removal) over the couple years we were with UVC. I hope she's getting enough rest because I know her schedule is PACKED! Dr. Ash is a saint and you can tell he genuinely wants to help you and your pets with whatever is going on. Our beagle Diamond had major complications towards the end of her life as she suffered from nasal cancer that had spread to her cribriform plate & to her brain. Diamond wasn't a patient at UVC but we were at our wits end with all the other specialty vets we were circulating, I wanted to get a 2nd opinion and talked to Dr. Ash about her condition. He was the only one who took the time to explain to us what her having nasal cancer meant, what are possible options, etc. even though she wasn't technically his regular patient. He also was the ONLY doctor (from the 4+ dr that had seen Diamond at that point) that called me after she had passed, to personally share his condolences. That will forever leave a lasting impression on me on how caring a veterinary doctor can be.... Thank you Dr. Ash. I know they're not taking new patients right now, so I just wanted to leave a love letter to all the staff at UVC for the many years of veterinary care they provided for our family. So I felt another update was needed since my cat recently had surgery for his eye to be removed. I originally went to the center to see what could be done for his eye, although I figured it would end up needing to be removed. Dr. Hernandez suggested I take my cat Grande to an eye specialist for confirmation that surgery was needed and if the specialist confirmed they'd be happy to perform the surgery. Well the eye specialist confirmed surgery was needed and quoted a price that was double the price quoted by University Pet Center! Unfortunately due to covid the surgery was scheduled a little further out, but Dr.Hernandez and other staff actually went in on their day off to perform the surgery at a sooner date, so I genuinely can't complain! (They even brushed some knots out of grandes fur while he was still sedated like I asked! ) They made sure to answer any questions I had and assured me communication would be available if needed. I did end up reaching out to their office a few times, since my cat kept doing things that were stressing me out (walking into walls, only turning in circles in one direction,etc) and they were quick to respond to me and let me know if it was something concerning or not. Turns out my cat was mainly being dramatic with the cone on, not because of the eye being gone or due to surgery Although surgery might not be cheap (it isn't anywhere Lol) or immediate, I'd still highly recommend having it done with University Vet Center. They helped make this stressful process easy and painless. They kept me well informed and were patient in every aspect. It's clear they genuinely care for the animals at their clinic and I'm extremely happy to have found them! I've been taking my pets here for years. I have quite a zoo at home. 2 dogs and 2 cats. And we've fostered 7 kittens at different times as well! Not all vets are created equal. :D I've had to go to other vets when UVC didn't have an appt avail and I needed to be seen right away. And the difference in care is amazing. I love Dr Ash. He truly cares for our pets and knows that they are our babies and family to us. He takes the time to talk thru issues and give options. And he's just sweet w my little guys! Other vets get you in and out as quick as possible. No bedside manner. I get it. These patients aren't people. But they (and us pet parents) still deserve to be treated w kindness and understanding. Dr Ash did the TPLO for my pitbull. And he's cared for my cat and my little chihuahua w all her issues. Her dental appt is coming up. They're not the cheapest vet out there, but they're also not the most expensive. Make an appt cuz they're booked up. I do drop off when they don't have an appt avail and that's very convenient too. $45 doctor visit During Covid, you drive up and call to say you've arrived and they come to the car to check in, pay and check out. Everyone wears a mask. And they sanitize pens and even your credit card before they return it to you. I have met with Dr. Ash and Dr. Hernandez and both are amazing veterinarians. Thorough, patient and understanding. They explain, go over cause and effect and provide all the possible choices. The vet techs and front staff go above and beyond. I dont trust my furbabies with any facility. There is nothing to complain about. Seriously. Just keep in mind because they are all so great here that they are booked up at least 2 months in advance. So plan accordingly, they are worth the wait. My problem with this practice is their attitude towards prescriptions. There is a state law that says vets must provide a written prescription if requested. Well, first they tried to price compare and said their's was only $3 more. Problem is, they were selling 60 mL and the online price was for 240 ml. So for the equivalent amount, it would have been an extra $75, not an extra $3. Then the vet said they only approve online prescription purchases when they have a meeting to do so once every two weeks to one month, implying if I did not buy from them, it would be a lengthy wait. The other vet I go to approves as soon as it is called, a very simple procedure when the prescription is written in the animal's chart. For a $110 office visit, we were left to wait in the room several times, and one time the vet returned obviously busy from munching on snacks. The $110 for a simple office visit is the same as charged by emergency vets, and much higher than the $55 to $65 charged by other vets in the area. read more

You probably wondering why I leave only 3 stars while majority leaving 4 or 5 stars. I will explain why in a bit but let me praised it and tell you why it has good ratings. The vet place is amazing. It is clean and everything is new. When you take your pet there it feels like you taking them to an actual clean hospital unlike most vet place that feels like someone's house. The doctors are amazing. I only experienced with Dr Hernandez. Never met the owner and main Dr Ash but I heard he is great. Dr. Hernandez is also great and make you feel like you the only patient. The nurses are great and knows what they doing. So why the low score? The availability. Obviously I am not a new patient. Been with this vet place for four plus years now. Before they work on weekends. Now due to short staff and because of covid their hours cut so dramaticaly. I work full time so having a weekend appointment is very important to me but obviously I have to asked for a day off whenever I take my pet.
