After having breakfast with my friends, we still want to get some drinks and my friends bring me to Brooklyn Beer Garden. The place is very cool with graffiti and full of hipsters. Restroom is a bit nasty because they just have a temporary restroom. Luckily I have my hand sanitizer with me. The place is self service and just mostly beer and so so wine. Quality: While beer garden is a good descriptor of the space itself, it is hard to ignore the limited beer selection. Seems like an easy fix to add more local beer options since everyone now distributes in cans. I also would think adding taps makes even more sense. Quantity: Limited beer and wine selection, all cans. Value: $10-$15 for most of the Beer options. Ambiance: Brooklyn Beer Garden is located in the center of Bushwick. A large outdoor space full of graffiti and games, it is a great meet-up spot and an easy place to end up at when eating or drinking nearby. Crowd: Always a crowd, particularly on warmer days. Service: Bartenders were fine, but a lot of garbage and tables needed to be wiped down. Hate that it is messy porta-pottys as well. Dope place to grab a drink and rest your feet after walking around. They have some interesting IPAs and cool art to enjoy for a summer weekend afternoon. We discovered this place on accident, walking by, and had SO much fun, honestly the best moments of our night. There's a mix of dance floor, outdoor bar games, art, and vendors. Wyckoff Beach is a cool spot to drink a purple Montauk with Jimmy and Oprah. For those not wanting to sink their feet in the sand, there are plenty of barstools and tables. The atmosphere and music are great. Love that they support local artists. The alcohol selection is limited, but there's enough wine and beer for everyone to get a drink. They also have cornhole set up, a beach area complete with sand, and great music! It's great for a date or a big group. Two things to note: the drink selection is limited to mostly beer, cider, and canned wine and the only place to go to the bathroom is porta potties. The street art looks staged, and the space seems, well a bit weak. Still it is right there, and if you're not sure where the good music is, it's hard to miss this spot. With so much craft beer popping up in Brooklyn and Queens, I was excited to learn that this beer garden was opening near my apartment. KCBC is a block away from it, and I figured there'd be a great beer selection in keeping with the craft culture that's been taking over the area. But when we went to check it out, there were only five options -- a Braven, three Montauks, and Founders' lager -- and they weren't even on draft. And at $7 a pop, the price was exorbitant for what was being served. It seems that every street fair and performance venue has a wide variety of craft beer these days, often on tap, so seeing such a limited selection at a place billed as a BEER GARDEN was disappointing. On top of that, it feels like less of a place to enjoy a beer than a place to be seen. It's right off the Jefferson L and is lined with eye-popping murals clearly designed to be Instagrammed. Look, it's a fine place if you want to drink overpriced run-of-the-mill beers on wooden stools in a vacant Bushwick lot while Manhattanites pose for their social media, but if you want a better beer experience seek literally any other bar in the area. read more

I checked out the place on a seasonable Saturday where the heat wasn't insufferable so I was able to take in and appreciate the ambiance. Beers cost double than what they are supposed to cost. Had to get food which I understand but choices were hotdog, burger, or beyond burger. I got a hotdog cause it was the cheapest. Limited beer selection, but what they did have was local (Bushwick beer a few different Montauk selections and one other, all in bottles and cans) and refreshing. The outdoor atmosphere was really cool, with a variety of surroundings, including a faux beach, but that also means people could smoke -- that wasn't so bad earlier in the evening but got worse later. The live entertainment was excellent. There were three different groups performing during the time I was there. The first one was mellow rock with a lot of intricate guitar, the second was hip-hop and the third was electric guitar and steel drum covering Bob Marley. I agree that they have a few kinks to work out, but it was nice place to hang on a Summer evening. They've only been open a month, so they may, hopefully, upgrade their beer selection and improve their washroom facilities.
