I stopped by Brooklyn Brew Cafe for the first time while accompanying a friend's daughter who was meeting her mother there. I had no intention of staying--my plan was simply to walk her in and leave--but she insisted I try one of their cookies and sit for a moment. Unfortunately, that brief visit was more than enough to confirm that this is a place I would not willingly return to. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Instead of a basic greeting or even neutral acknowledgment, the woman behind the counter looked me up and down with a visible scowl, as though my presence was somehow offensive. First impressions matter in hospitality, and this one could not have been worse. A coffee shop should feel warm and inviting; this one felt the opposite. The environment itself did little to redeem the experience. The overall vibe was dull and unappealing, lacking the comfort and energy that usually make neighborhood cafés enjoyable places to spend time. Rather than feeling like a community space, it felt tense and awkward. Service and atmosphere are the bare minimum for any café. When both are lacking, it raises serious questions about how the business expects to retain customers. Based on this visit alone, Brooklyn Brew Cafe left the impression of a place that has forgotten the most basic principle of hospitality: treat people like they are welcome. The shop is small and dark, the service is bright and friendly. I ordered an iced coffee and an avocado toast and the total was $18. The iced coffee was good, not sour. The avocado toast was good but could be better. It had an ample amount of avocado, which was a little salty and too much balsamic sauce, which was too sweet given the amount they put on it. On July 1, 2025, I stopped into the Brooklyn brew Café for my first time. I met the owner Marina, who was very welcoming. While I was there, I had avocado toast for lunch, which was absolutely delicious. I also had a cold brew Keylime pie coffee, which was amazing while I was at the Brooklyn brew Café I met a number of customers who came in. Everyone is so nice. I will definitely be going back for more coffee and avocado toast. There are so many flavors of cold and hot coffee to taste. I see a lot of reviews here, and I just have to say, the family that owns this business are some of the nicest and most considerate people I've ever had the fortune of meeting. I'm a picky eater, and every single pastry and menu item has yet to disappoint. Let me start by saying that I'm not a fancy coffee drinker - I drink coffee for the caffeine and not the taste. However, I must say, that I really enjoyed the coffee at this little gem of a spot in Bay Ridge. Even better was the customer service and the avocado toast! This is the type of place where you bring a book, order almost anything on the menu and sit outside and enjoy the morning. It would also be the perfect place to catch up with friends or family. The coffee.... I'm always happy with my latte and chai that I order here. You can definitely taste the coffee and get the kick you need. My husband always gets the drip coffee and mentions that it's always too hot at first... so, at least you know you'll get a hot coffee.. It's usually a one man shop when I go so expect that you'll need to give yourself some time if you're on a schedule. Seating space is small. But during covid, the store has been closed and instead they have a take out window. Credit cards accepted. read more

both the coffee and the service were not good here. the barista was focused on making tiktoks instead of my latte, and the outcome was no bueno. i wanted an iced latte with a few pumps of hazelnut but it came out watery, lukewarm instead of iced, and way too sweet. it also took well over 15 minutes to get a latte and cold brew with nobody else in the store. read more

This spot seemed very yummy, but when I got there the workers were not wearing masks. The drink had burnt milk to where it was extremely hot, and the server touched the drinking part of my cup with her dirty fingers. Place would be more sufficient if they followed health guidelines. I am so grateful this place opened up so close to me. They have delicious vegan soups and muffins, as well as non-vegan deliciousness. The staff is so sweet and kind, and you always leave feeling great after the exchange. My go-to is the oat-milk latte with the blueberry muffin, apple turnover, or chocolate croissant.... and one of their amazing soups. They also have a cute little area for outdoor seating with about 3 tables nicely spaced out. It's a side street so, you won't find it to be super populated, which is great. Totally recommend. I have been seeing this place on my walk with my puppers, never been inside coz of the puppers, then a former colleague got in touch with me. She want to send breakfast or snack from this place. Stuff was delivered, I pick up, was amazed by the quality of food. Coffee was great and so was the pastries. The coffee sustained the unit the whole day, was even good when cold. Of course the pastries disappeared quick. Also the delivery was on time. I will definitely stop by this place every chance I get. I'm a coffee addict. When this place opened, I thought it would never make it. Too small. Off the beaten path. Wouldn't survive the COVID pandemic. I was sure it would be closed by now. Boy, was I ever wrong. The atmosphere was inviting. Very friendly. I am not a big coffee drinker, but then they started serving things like huge waffles and the most amazing soups. My favorite so far was the butternut squash soup and spinach lentil soup full of earthy spices perfectly blended.
