I am a bit confused; does Heidy know how to speak? I went into the store this morning around 8:45, got what I needed and went to her register. As I put my jam down to be rung up, I said "Good morning'. No response, not even a glance in my direction. In fact, she seemed quite annoyed. I figured she didn't hear me, so as she was about to ring up the jam, I said it again, and again, no response or even a hint that she knew I was there. As I was leaving, I said 'thank you' as she gave me the receipt, which she handed to me from her side while she remained facing the register. Again, No response. However, Heidy's power of speech returned just as soon as she began to help the next customer. Nice place to grab a sandwich and sit by the water at Charlotte Beach a couple of blocks away. Market was clean, had a great assortment of food and beverages. I went there to get an ice cream pint and all of them were melted. Literally, every single pint was warm and squishy. Went to notify the cashiers and they acted nonchalant, said they knew and that their refrigerators and freezers were broken. Didn't say anything about putting signs up about this to notify customers, whether there are plans to throw out any spoiled food (I'm assuming they aren't), etc. Their frozen food and refrigeration aisles were still fully stocked and I didn't see any staff around doing anything about replacing any potentially spoiled food. They also didn't clarify if all their fridges and freezers were broken, or if it was only certain sections. So, just a heads up. You might want to avoid shopping there...looking at the other reviews, it definitely seems like food quality and safety are a huge issue here. read more

Shop there all the time. They need fresher produce and better prices. The prices are sometimes triple. Sometimes I can't get to the regular market. Prices are little above the average but I can take that instead of driving 10 minutes to closest grocery store. Fruits and vegetables are really fresh here. They are always watered and kept cool. Horrible service. Employees in the produce section DO NOT WEAR MASKS during pandemic. I have complained repeatedly to the onsite managers and they don't give a shit. I get attitude from the employees who are not wearing masks as well. Ummm..it's a state law to wear masks in businesses for employees and customers. I wear a mask when I go to work for several hours too. I don't like it, but know it's my duty to not only protect myself, but others as well. Terrible customer services , if I could give 0 star I would . First , The price labeled on the shelf doesn't match the price when you check out , false advertisement, fa example , shelf label 1.99 when check out it is 2.99 , you have to always double check. Second, terrible customer services , example , there is a cashier who work there many year is very rude to customer every time I've gone there I have to avoid her, I wondered why every time when I checked out she gave me attitude / black face. She wouldn't say a word to me during check out, usually when we check out in other store cashier will ask do you need a bag, will tell you the total, and ask if you need the receipt at the end, that is not the case with this cashier , she was ice cold like the world owns her a lot, today at checked out when everything was done I waited and see she will finally say something and asked if I need the receipt . nope she was just stand there like a stone , as usual she didn't say a word and just gave a unbearable attitude.. I quietly paid and after that I think I should bring this up to the manager attention, however how the manager handled this situation was appalling , the guy who talked to me who claimed to be the manager and owner, at first didn't even want to listen to me , he then made excuses for the staff , instead of addressing the issue with the staff he makes excuses for them, he didn't apologize for the bad customer experience, instead he called the cashier over to confront me. The Cashier came over and said " oh because I said good morning to you one time and you didn't reply " , and the manager said " see that is why ". I was appalled . First all she didn't say good morning to me because she didn't even say any other word to me every time I check out, secondly , maybe that was 2 years ago one time she say good morning to me and I didn't hear it and didn't reply so she just quilt doing her job as a cashier and gave cold treatment to the customer going there every single time ? And the manager of the store is approved this behavior !!? It is eye opening to me . I'm extremely excited for the opening of this supermarket! The selection is great with a wide variety of gluten free products, fresh produce, cleaning and house products, basic and fancy beers.... The fresh deli counter looks pretty yummy. It's very clean and organized inside and looking for products is a breeze. They have a weekly gazette which features discounts and specials. Compared to Food Bazar a few blocks over they are much smaller but their selection for organic and specialty foods and products is much more appealing. However their fish and seafood section is incomparable to Food Bazar. I hope this new addition to the neighborhood will keep its great prices and selection for years to come. read more

I only go to this market for its convenience, but in general, this would not be my "go to" market only because it's extremely pricey. I've gone to other supermarkets, and I would buy the same exact things that I would at this market, but there's always a $10-20 difference. I always end up paying a lot more than I should when I come here. Also, the employees are like zombies. Sometimes you'll catch them on a good day, but majority of the time, they barely speak up and won't look you in the eye. If you're luckily enough, they'll give you a dead stare. Also, I came here to buy cauliflower and apparently it doesn't exist in this market. Very disappointed in the produce section. read more

One check-out person had hers fully off her face, and we would not go in her line because of it. When we asked her and the other check-out people to put their masks on, they all refused. Not only am I concerned about their safety as front-line workers, but also the safety of all the customers they are serving. Great service! Employees always proactive, ask if I found everything I needed. One of my deliveries was missing an item - they special-hand-delivered it to my door. Selection is the best in w-burg, with some cool hard to find middle-eastern items (Lebanese Tahini, Moroccan Harisa, authentic cardamom coffee, etc.). Prepared food section is pretty good, sushi was very good, overall good selection. This is so much better that Tops and so convenient for anyone on the waterfront and in all new condos and rentals that are coming to north 5 and North 4. The way a business treats its employees says A LOT about who they are. And I vote with my dollars. Tonight (Christmas evening) I walked by the store. Seeing they were open I popped in for a few items. Casually I wished the staff members a Merry Christmas & mentioned that their employer was lucky to have staff willing to work Christmas. I also threw in that I hope they're making 1.5x or double pay for working this holiday in lieu of being with their loved ones. *Crickets* It turns out they're not making a penny more for working Christmas today/tonight, which means the owners run their business in a way I don't respect. I prefer places like Costco or Chipotle & businesses that respect employees as important components of overall success. Plus the employees of respectful businesses usually seem happier & more ready to help... so my shopping experience is elevated. My guess is that expecting employees to work Christmas day/night (without rewarding their commitment as they miss important time with family) speaks volumes. I cannot shop here anymore knowing the owners don't value & respect their employees. It feels icky. Kind of like when I think about shopping at Walmart. I have been going here for years and never even considered changing me allegiance when Wholefoods came to town but they have really tested my patience on the last two visits. I always buy the Peter Luger burgers which are normally awesome. I commented to the butcher that the colour was off, they were brown but are normally moist and red from the sauce. He said it was fine...I ate them and got violently ill. Just now my we tried to return milk that we bought the other day. It had gone badly sour and disgusting after 3 days. At multiple occasions I have bought items that had a passed expiration date. As a customer I should verify, and trust me I will for now on anywhere I go, but I am pretty sure it's very unprofessional to leave old food in the store. One time it was breast chicken, the smell was bad once I opened it. I verified the date, and it was passed a week! Another time it was a dairy product. But the worst part was this past weekend. I got some baby food. 4 little baby fruit containers. I only checked 2 dates out of 4 thinking that again a supermarket should do their job and remove the bad stuff! Yesterday when I opened one of them my husband was shocked that the expiration date was November 2020!!! That one was the last chance I gave them, I'm never going back! read more

Finally a grocery store in my neighborhood! I wouldn't say they are completely organic only because there is a lot of GMO products and unhealthy foods. The prices are very competitive and the store is so nice since its brand new. They do have a bakery section on site. Their meat and seafood section looks extremely fresh. All the produce is nicely organized and they have vegetables you wouldn't find in your typical grocery store. I think I even found cakes that are made very similar to the kind you would get at Publix down south. My roommate is going to go crazy for this place! One of my neighbors was really excited and I overheard her mention that shes still going to shop at Fresh Direct. Nope... I find it hard to believe that some people have commented about bad customer service. This has to be one of the most welcoming places with very pleasant customer service. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient, I never find myself waiting in line for more than 10 minutes. The store is also very well put together, organized and most importantly clean. It's not as big as whole foods, but I do find everything I'm looking for quickly and I don't find myself lost or walking 3 miles just to get milk. I have no problem with the market at all. We shop here every year when we stay in the neighborhood. My problem is while in the store my 15 year old niece who has IBS had an attack and needed a bathroom. The cashiers up front were nice and sent us to the back where the deli workers absolutely refused to let her use the bathroom. I explained the situation and was told there were no exceptions. I can see not letting adults or intoxicated hipsters use your commercial bathroom but if you refuse to let a 15 year old in noticeable pain to use them, you are just an asshole. read more

They never have all the items on the sales flyer. I even go in the first day of the sale and they would say it's all sold out or they do not have it. I think they trick you in the door. And then when there's inventory, sometimes the register doesn't ring it up at the sale price so you have to keep an eye on the register as they ring you up.
