I love this place. My friends and I walked in and automatically felt so much peace and calm. The orange walls, the binaural beats and the friendliness of the staff make it my number one spot to come for CBD. Their pre rolled "Lifter" is really nice. My sister's skin was glowing so I asked "Girl what are you using?!" She told me about Be Yummy Skinfood and where to get it. I am telling everyone it is the possibly the best cream out there. My skin was so dry this winter one night of using this cream changed all that. I also just returned from Tulum with a bad sunburn and needed to purchase the cream again luckily they are open till 10pm. This cream helped my sunburn immensely.. way better than aloe vera gel! The people that work here are all lovely and so helpful. They sell so many wonderful things from makeup to raw food. This store is a gem on the lower east side. Live Live is a great little store; I've been easing into raw, live food extremely gradually, and they're always very supportive. Early this year, I saw my finances dwindling, and decided to finally get an Excalibur dehydrator from them while I still had some money. (I had wanted one for years.) It's an American-made workhorse machine, and to be honest, I can't afford the dehydrated snacks Live Live offers, but now I can make them for cheap! Kale is my favorite thing to dry, and I also crumble dried kale into my [vegan] pets' food. Between the kale and the apple chips I've made, the dehydrator has already paid for itself. They have many wonderful books--cookbooks and nutrition books especially--but so far there are no dehydrator recipe books, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants, as it were. Their staff is just great; I originally bought the 9-tray dehydrator in the hopes that I could fit it in my small kitchen, but when I had to exchange it for a smaller unit, they made the exchange seamlessly. I've also taken great raw-food-prep classes with Dan Hoyt, who is a total live-food genius. So glad to have this place in my neighborhood. read more

Bee Yummy - Delicious in more ways than one Having experienced the deliciousness of Bee Yummy for several years now, it was this year that changed everything for me and my health. Specifically my facial skin. A dramatic affliction hit my face in the early part of the year, around Feb. I knew through my Natural, Metaphysical Healing Studies and Therapies that this would be with me for some months and I would need to do the necessary Self-healing work involved for the process to ease and help to resolve, which it did by May. So severe it was, I felt pressure to see Medical Skin Specialists. I didn't have much faith as I experienced this before, 5 years ago, though not as intense or for this length of time. They were baffled; having never seen in their many years of Practice, such an affliction. The first time, biopsies, limited topical use of steroids, and a rarely subscribed anti-biotic with serious side-effects (which I refused) was their treatment. When I brought up the possibility that the affliction was because of emotions such as stress or anxiety caused by my Mother being extremely ill, they were adamant that it had nothing to do with it. The various ointments and Medicinal cremes they gave me did not help or soothe my skin. They only filled-up draws with much added Expense. It took me going through the above experience to realize how much I craved Bee Yummy. Honey is known to be an anti-bacterial and also helped with my weaken immune system. So I felt safe with using-it and was part of the calming effect to this serious inflammation. The discomfort I had previously was overwhelming. The feeling was as-if, I wanted to tear my face-off, like a mask. The Bee Yummy is truly Yummy. It calmed and soothed the pain I was experiencing on my face. A small store on the north side of the street, Live Live fulfills every raw foodie's wet dream. Countless choices of raw vegan chocolate by Gnosis, Fine & Raw, Lulu's Pacari, etc., dehydrated crackers and kelp, "cheeses" and spreads, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, coconuts and kefir, skin care products, a library of books, kitchen equipment such as juicers, blenders, spirilizers, the list continues. It is a bit expensive but the selection is superb. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the goods, also generously offering samples of the new products. The magenta hibiscus kale chips were lovelier to look at than taste but the creamy cilantro and basil pesto were divine, both spread liberally on soft raw vegan onion bread. I could eat them with a spoon. And I did. Twice. Two varieties of raw vegan tofu made of macadamia nuts were tasted as well, the curry version full of flavor and easily mistaken for a soy-based equivalent. The cherry on top was an introduction to the famous raw food chef Dan of Quintessence, the first raw vegan restaurant in NYC, who gracefully sauntered into the shop. Even though I have met many big name cooks, this was my moment of celebrity chef worship. Yup. Leather jacket and unique jewelry adorned, Chef Dan brings raw vegan ingenuity to the table. He graciously invited me to his raw cooking class the following eve, where he demonstrated/prepared some of the most delectable and inventive raw vegan dishes I have yet to taste. Plates included a tomato soup inspired by a previous trip to Spain, a triple dip combination plate that played on conceptual ketchup, mayo, and mustard (umeboshi plum, lemony aioli, and miso tahini respectively) served with crudité, vegetable "meat" loaf that was light and fluffy (dissimilar to many nut loaves that could easily swap as hockey pucks) served with a savory gravy, kelp noodles tossed in a squash puree and topped with broccoli cheese, a modern moussaka-esque delight garnished with nutmeg, and lavender honey ice cream with fragrant rose jam. This raw foods and supply store has a lot of difficult to find items, but the prices are very expensive and you might be able to purchase elsewhere for less. Regardless, for convenience's sake, they have lots of raw nuts and seeds, snacks, desserts, olives, books, supplements and equipment. The staff overall are nice, but the owner's personality isn't as warm and open. I shop here occasionally as they have these hemp chips which are good, but they can't seem to keep it in stock and that is extremely frustrating. read more

While waiting for my order from Quintessence I usually find myself killing time in live live. They have so many raw snacks, vitamins, books (granted the books are quite processed, but the subject matter tends to support the lifestyle) that I usually lose track of time and the waitress ends up hunting me down with my order. The staff is really knowledgeable, and if they can't answer your question they either look it up or guide you in your search. This small independent store sells tons of great raw food snacks, supplements, skincare/body care and raw appliances (water purifiers, dehydrators, Vitamix etc.) Staff tends to be knowledgeable and helpful. My only gripe is price. Realize organic live food is expensive. While many items are good values, some unfortunately sell for significantly more than manufacturer list price. I wish I could give this establishment a better review. Live Live has some great snacks and a couple of their employees are quite affable. (I wish I had their names-the two that come to mind are both female.) That said, a few weeks ago, I found one employee's behavior appalling. His name is Gregory. I'm a fairly regular customer and I noticed a few new items. When I inquired about the items, I sensed some irritation in Gregory's voice as though I was disturbing him. He even went as far as to make a curt comment under his breath. One might say, 'give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe that's just Gregory's demeanor.' Sure. However, when I returned the following weekend, I found Gregory engaged in deep conversation with a young female customer. He didn't seem irritated or disturbed or rude. That's unacceptable. With service like that, I'd rather make sure I get to High Vibe early or travel all the way up to Westerly Market to pick up the items I usually pick up at Live Live. read more
