This is our favorite pizza in the lake area. It is the most authentic New York pizza around. I was in on a Sunday, at lunchtime, and it was very busy. The service is quick at the counter, place is clean, including the bathrooms, and food comes out hot. I like the nonna slices, thin crust, very crispy with cheese and stripes of chunky sauce across the slice squares. We also got a Sicilian square and a regular slice. I don't have photos for this review, but that was probably because we devoured our slices quickly! They have tasty sweet iced tea with refills also. Consistently good. read more

I highly recommend! Yesterday some of my my family and I stopped in for an early dinner! My mother ordered a traditional cheese slice which was made to perfection. I ordered a sicilian slice of pizza which was light and airy with a crisp bottom. DELICIOUS! My son ordered the pasta and meatballs which is one large meatball. He said was very tasty! Well we have been to Brooklyn South once before, truly enjoyed it and decided to come back. Really good spot, restaurant itself is roomy, ambiance is a warm feeling and staff was friendly and attentive. It is an order and sit down spot. Smells are great and very cool to see the prep and oven work, vid attached. Changed it up and got a calzone and egg plant samich. Calzone was a tad disappointing. Pic on menu showed a true enclosed calzone but what came out was a loaf of bread cut in half as you see. Tasted good just not as expected. The egg plant sandwich was open faced and good. Neither were knock your socks off. The best of the meal was the garlic knots. Fantastic flavor and consistency of bread, fresh from the oven. Overall we will be back but probably stick to the pizza. We have ordered from Brooklyn South since it was established in 1998 and used to be on the other side of the road by Harris Teeter. It's the best New York style pizza in the area. With that being said, it is no where close to having a slice of pizza in NYC, but it's the closest you will get to one from this area. The sauce has a little sweetness to it, and you can taste all those spices in it. They put a good amount of cheese, and the dough has the right amount of crunch. We tried the pinwheels for the first time. The flavor was nice as you can really taste the pepperoni, but it was unfortunately overcooked. read more

This place is hands down the best pizza outside of the Northeast. As they say "legalize marinara". These folks have all things Italian down to a science and they do it in a very friendly way. Stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of some Facebook group who claimed they have awesome garlic knots and NY style pizza. So glad I did! The person who took my order was so incredibly nice and helpful! She gave me recommendations, talked to me about real estate and even brought me a go box without asking. Sweet! This is one of those establishments where you order at the counter and go sit down with a "neighborhood" in NYC as your number. They'll bring out the food to you. I didn't feel like getting garlic knots AND pizza, so I opted for the knots and chicken parm on the recommendation of my server. The garlic knots were indeed excellent, but a bit dry. I love the knots that have the garlic butter poured on them. These are served with a cup of marinara that was yummy. The chicken parm was ok. The chicken tenders were huge and the portion was enormous. It truly was enough for 3 meals, especially when you get the knots, too. I'd definitely try something different next time. The cool thing about this restaurant is the sheer number of pizzas and pies you can get by the slice. When I go back, and I will be back, I'm getting one of those slices. Brooklyn South is a staple for our family. Has been for all of their 25 years. They've been pleasantly consistent the entire time - good food at an affordable price with excellent service. Yesterday, they topped themselves by doing something I've seen nowhere else - offering to use their pizza cutter to cut two slices of the kids' pizza. Usually, we have to wrestle with that task ourselves while the kids fidget restlessly. Not this time! A little extra effort that went a long way for a more enjoyable family dining experience. Pretty good pizza! I can say that if you really go for thin, foldable crust.... You will like this Za. They are in a shopping strip but if you blink you might miss it, but I did not blink so I didn't miss it. I have been going here for a few years now, and they always take a while to heat up the pizza, and though they don't do anything extra there is a tip jar on the counter and a space to write in tips on your to go receipt. The place is clean and cutely decorated with black & white historical New York City photographs. The tables are always clean if you'd like to sit, but most people seem to take their orders to go. I appreciate the fact that you can buy single slices, I usually get the lunch special of two cheese slices and a fountain drink for around five bucks. I have had their soup and it was really nice, as I recall. I remember getting an order of wings for my hubby. He said that they were zesty with just the right amount of spice and left nothing but bones on his plate! They offer an eclectic mix of bottled beers, both domestic and some international. The fountain drinks are self service. Here the sweetened iced tea and pink lemonade blend for a pretty decent Arnold Palmer. Been a solid stop for pizza and Italian-American classics for many years. Most of the pizza is NY style and comes in one size, 16". I like that beyond just a whole pie or slices, you can also get half a pizza which sometimes is just the right amount. They do have some thicker crust varieties and our family favorite is the Nonna's Pizza which has a crispy crust and lots of cheese which is then topped with ribbons of tomato sauce. You can also get Nonna's by the slice. I also like some of their other non-pizza offerings including the spaghetti (or other pasta types) which you can get with a variety of sauces including just butter for anyone picky like I was as a kid. My go-to is the lasagna and it is a huge serving with plenty of beef and sausage, cheese, sauce, etc. I don't believe I've ever finished it all in one sitting and it reheats just fine. The place is pretty much always busy in the evenings and, no surprise, particularly on the weekends. We eat in every once in a while but mainly get orders to go which you can call in or handle online. read more

Attitude and Service has only gotten worse. Last weekend my son and his family came up from Marietta GA for a visit and some quality time on the Lake. They arrived about lunch time so we ordered out. You kids age 5 and 2 1/2 love either McDonald's or Pizza. Unfortunately they generally only go for straight Pepperoni. Called up to Brooklyn South to place an order. Ordered one large Brooklyn South which is Pepperoni, Green Peppers, Onions and Mushrooms along with a small straight Pepperoni. Sorry we only offer one size but we can do a half and half. No problem so I ordered a Pizza, 1/2 Brooklyn Bridge and 1/2 Pepperoni. They told me, 20 minutes which I knew to be unrealistic based on prior results. On the way, I dropped by Harris Teeter to pick up some other items and by the time I got to Brooklyn South, it was closer to 30 minutes and the Pizza was still not ready When the Pizza did come out about 5 minutes later, the Gentleman at the Counter opened the box for me. Picture is attached. Looks like 1/3 Brooklyn Bridge and 2/3 Pepperoni Pizza but no according to the gentleman at the counter, because one additional slice had a sliver of onion, that counted as 1/2. Service has always been slow and has gotten worse. Years ago when this location opened, Service was one of their strong points. Based on this experience, if I want good service and a good quality pizza, I need to start looking elsewhere. read more

Pizza was ok not like I need this chaos on a Friday night. They have no service hire servers when you have a line out the door, however, tip at the counter blows my mind. Do we pay people to work at a counter hourly without always having to tip. I might as well clean up too. Prices online will not be honored. Cost of a stuffed pizza was $25.95 but the price when I went to pay they charged $31.95 a full $6.00. On their website there was not even a price listed. One of my local rotating go too's for pizza here in Cornelius. While I prefer a thinner crispier crust (ala Chicago pub style) that is next to impossible to find here in NC, so I settle for NY style. Their thing crust is your traditional, foldable slice, and the topping choices are great, but tend to be inconsistent in how much they use (I'm a Italian sausage, pepperoni, garlic and occasionally pineapple for my daughter) We always have more than enough, especially since we tend to add appetizers to our order. This last time was mozzarella sticks and garlic knots. The mozz sticks were great, but their dipping sauce it just too chunky for my liking. Same sauce with the garlic knots, which were honestly lacking in the garlic seasoning. Still tend to go here about once a month. My only gripe is the fact that they don't deliver, which makes no sense for a pizza joint! read more

I've been here a few times and most of the time it is ok, but last night was not good and the service didn't really care. I ordered my pizza and they said it would take 30 minutes- I arrived after 30 mins and they said another minute. 20 minutes later my pizza still was not ready. When I addressed it with the staff they didn't care or apologize. When I took the pizza home the veggies on the pizza were still hard and raw and the dough was very soft and almost undercooked.
