Brasato di Manzo: braised espresso rubbed beef short ribs served over creamy polenta with fried leeks
    Tess Z.

We came here for the first time for a birthday celebration. We ordered escargot as an appetizer. I had never had it prepared the way it was and it was delicious. My boyfriend who had never tried escargot also enjoyed it. We both ordered the Brasato di Manzo and it was delicious. For dessert we had an assortment of Italian cookies, which are made in house. Our waitress was very kind and informative about the menu, especially the unique items like the kangaroo. The owner came around and spoke with everyone. He made us feel like family and we spoke a bit about Italy. He actually recognized my Italian last name when we entered and gave us the warmest welcome. The dining room is small but in an intimate way and a great ambiance. This is a gem in Davidson. We can't wait to come back.

Fantastic spot for great Italian food with great service. It took us a bit to try this but I'm so glad we did and look forward to returning. The menu changes based on what's currently in season -- go to their Facebook page for the current menu. The service here is top notch. Everyone is friendly, prompt, and very courteous. They make sure to treat people well. The food is just excellent. We started with the capesante -- seared scallops on pumpkin Boursin with prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Wow. We ate this quickly and didn't leave any left. The scallops were huge (2) and cooked perfectly. The pumpkin Boursin was delicious and we put the extra on the bread. Fantastic start. We enjoyed the spaghetti con vongole, insalata di mela, and the special fettuccini. The spaghetti was delicious and had a heaping amount of clams. It was delicious. The salad was beautiful and a very generous portion. The special was fantastic with a pork tenderloin and Gorgonzola sauce. We finished everything and left full and content. Overall, this is a fantastic spot and I'm glad to have it in the neighborhood. I look forward to returning.

We really enjoyed the food. Each dish was $28 dollars so come prepared to treat yourself. Older crowd restaurant and the wine bar next door is a great first stop for a date night.

Pan Seared Duck Breast, Sun Chokes on Homemade Applesauce

21st Wedding anniversary and my wife wanted a nice Italian Restaurant. Went through the local list and decided on Il Bosco in Davidson. We've dined here before but for some reason, it's been a long time since we were here. Happy to report that it is still as good as it was a couple or years ago. It's on a short street called Depot street with on street parking but also a parking lot is available behind the building. If you park there, you end up coming in the back door but we were lucky in that we had early reservations (5:30 pm) so we were able to park almost at the front door. Came in handy when we left, because a thunderstorm with heavy rains came through and our car was only 10 feet away. When we walked in, we were given a choice of dining inside or out on the patio. The temperature was only in the 60's and it was pleasant so for a change we chose to sit on the patio. The bougainvilleas in hanging baskets along with a hugh rose were both in bloom and were beautiful. Our server was excellent and for that matter, so was the rest of the staff. He took our drink orders and while they don't have tea on Saturdays, everything else was great. I ended up with Pellegrino which was fine. I started with a Caprese appetizer which was excellent. Don't know where they found the tomatoes but these were nice and fresh and did not taste like cardboard which is how most tomatoes taste this time of year. The Balsamic on top was a very high quality as well. My wife ordered Veal Piccata and added a side of asparagus that she proclaimed to be some of the best Piccata she had experienced. I order the pan seared Duck Breast with Sun chokes and applesauce. The Duck was excellent. It's very easy to overcook Duck and if not prepared properly, Duck can be somewhat greasy. This Duck was cooked to a perfect medium rare, moist and juicy and without the least hint of greasiness. In the area, presentation or plating is almost a lost art but in this case, the plating was very attractive and appealing. Toward the end of dinner, the thunderstorm came up and the owner and staff moved everyone in a well orchestrated manner. It was inside that my wife and I had our deserts. She had tiramisu which I had a cup of excellent espresso. In the end, a perfect way to celebrate an anniversary. Not sure why we have not been back more frequently but will definately rectify that oversight.

They do not take reservations, so you have to get there to get on list. Today happened to be a perfect Tuesday evening to go; there was no wait. The waitress wasted no time to come over and share all the appetizer and main course specials. She did a great job explaining the dishes and answering any concerns. If she wasnt sure, she made sure to get clarification with any substitutions. Everything we had was very good. Each item was either fresh or well seasoned. After an amazing dinner, we were offered the dessert menu. We all were full but the waitress reminded us that we would get a complimentary teramisu or cannoli for my aunts birthday. We picked the tiramisu. Which was amazing. The ambiance is very warm with low-light dining. Will definitely be returning for special occasions or if company comes to town. See you again Antico

I shared the pesto cappelini with my child-it was not very good, we gave the pesto pasta a 1.5/5 Neither of us had much interest in eating more. My partner had the chicken cacciatore 3/5 rating. This was more palatable however, my husband says it's definitely not one of the best that he's had.. I server was nice and attentive when getting us the drinks, however, they did not check on the food quality once. But towards the end of the meal as my son and I were not touching our food, they asked us if we wanted boxes to go - it was quite obvious. They were trying to do this to free up the table. However, my partner was still working on their dish As we left the restaurant, it was surprising the line of people waiting outside for a table, I hope they had a better experience. The ambience inside felt OK, but it was nothing extraordinary, however, the weight staff all had professional looking uniform.

Their grilled Caesar salad is large enough to share, with deliciously charred romaine and homemade dressing. We also love sharing the arancini when we are not in the mood for a salad. For entrees, you can't go wrong with their pizza. It's one of our top favorites in the CLT area, as it's cooked in a wood-fired oven, and is both crispy and full of toppings. My husband particularly enjoys the Capricciosa, with artichokes, ham, mushroom, basil, and fresh mozzarella. Their calzones are really good, too. I usually get their lasagna, which is served in a bowl and is made to order. Their bolognese has a complex flavor, and the sauce-to-cheese quotient is just perfect. I always have some leftover to take home. If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the deconstructed cannoli. It's homemade, and divine. Their gelato is well thought-out, served with a side of espresso to soften the ice cream and add a unique flavor. Presentation is carefully and well-thought out. Service is always good as well, no matter what time of day you visit (we prefer early dinners). We love this place, and will keep it on our "short list" for nearby dining!

I was seated facing the kitchen in a booth. I just loved the decor with the bricks, open kitchen, and warehouse ceiling. The wood, beams and bricks were reclaimed materials from Manhattan, adds old world charm. The Easter decorations were a nice touch. My amazing waitress created me a mocktail with ginger beer and cranberry. It was colorful and wonderful. It had some tang to it. The Italian restaurant has Neopolitan pizzas and Italian dishes. It was so hard deciding what to select from the menu. If I hadn't just had shrimp, the shrimp scampi would have been what I ordered. Then there was a lasagna with a bechamel sauce I really wanted. But the pizza won out. My waitress talked me into the salad I was debating, too. The salad was Dolce Crostata. It has mixed lettuce, goat cheese, pancetta, candied pecans and golden raisins. I like the salads with fruit, and this one was wonderful. Novanta means 90 in Italian, which is the 90 seconds it takes to cook the pizza. It goes into the 900-degree Italian wood-fired oven. The pizza was a true Neapolitan with the soft, airy crust and a little bit of char on it. It tasted as good as it looked. I wanted a second pizza after my first slice, but I had trouble finishing the first and had to take half of the salad to go. I did love every bite of the margherita pizza and salad. If I lived closer, I'd eat here weekly as the food is that good. This is a hidden gem.

Seaboy absolutely delivered. From the outside, the building is understated and looks more like it belongs near the beach at Oak Island. Once you step inside, however, it is clean, classy, well-appointed, and charmingly coastal without being overly themed or tacky. It feels like the premium restaurant it is. We didn't make reservations because we arrived at 4:30 on a Friday and never expected the place to be completely slammed that early. Jackie, the hostess, took our name and phone number and promised to call as soon as something opened at the bar. Since there wasn't much room to wait inside, she encouraged us to relax in our car. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, she called and made sure we got the first two available seats. Samantha, the bartender, was both an excellent server and a talented mixologist. She was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, somehow keeping up with all the drinks for the dining room without allowing anyone at the bar to feel ignored. I told her I wasn't much of a drinker but gave her the name of a liquor I enjoy. She created her own cocktail for me, and it was a solid 10 out of 10. Could I walk in and order that exact drink again? Probably not. Would I trust her to surprise me again in a heartbeat? Absolutely. My wife started with a shrimp appetizer that she said may have been the best shrimp she has ever eaten. I had the Caesar salad, which was the only part of the meal that was merely okay. It was beautifully presented, generously portioned, properly dressed, and topped with excellent cheese. Unfortunately, the dressing lacked the bold, savory punch I expect from a great Caesar. Our entrées, however, were phenomenal. I ordered the swordfish, and it was so good that my wife essentially took it over because she liked it even more than the seafood pasta special she had ordered. Fortunately, her rich, cheesy seafood creation was outstanding, so I was perfectly happy with the trade. I polished off her meal, then finished whatever swordfish she left behind! We ended with the deconstructed Key lime pie. It was flavorful and enjoyable, although, like the Caesar, I felt it could have used just a little more refinement. At one point, the chef and owner came out to the bar, shook our hands, introduced himself, and thanked us for coming. He stayed for a little friendly conversation, which was a genuinely nice and personal touch. Those minor critiques aside, the service, food quality, atmosphere, and hospitality were all excellent. Seaboy has immediately become one of our favorite choices for a premium meal, and the overall experience was absolutely five out of five. We will definitely be back soon. To those about to nosh, we salute you!
