Excellent place! I was excited to find their wine that I use in punch was available at this location. I don't have to go over the river and through the woods to Oliver Winery to get this, I can just go about a mile from my home. This is marvelous. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus. No, B Rad, they don't sell mud. They do have a great selection of wines for where we're at. This isn't total wine, this isn't a big box store. Some dude and his family run this place and I've only ever seen the family running it (it is right by my gym) so previous problems that people have had with employees have cleared up because now it is straight up mom and pop. I can get behind a mom and pop all day and the part of the night I'm not sprawled on Karen's basement floor wondering why Anderson Cooper doesn't call me back. Why does this place get four stars instead of three? They had a huge selection (compared to the size of the store) of local wines and beer. I think that's wonderful. I haven't fallen in love with any of the local beers or near local beers BUT I know my friends have and now I know where to get some before going to their homes. I also know that supporting local businesses is good for everyone. If you want Bud Light you need to reexamine your life choices and also: go to Walmart. If it is Garbage de Blanc you're looking for they have it AND in the vintage you prefer. If you're a grown up and looking to drown your sorrows in quality then this is your jam. I would recommend this to any of my friends but they're all average to above average to amazing people and none of them live in BC. They live in the Highlands where men with handlebar mustaches come right to your door on those old-timey bicycles with the outsized front wheel with the booze you ordered by carrier pigeon and only accept tips no one has ever heard of. For being a smaller store they do have a decent sized selection. Pricing here is pretty high for a smaller liquor store. Around $15 higher on select bourbons that I was checking out than other nearby liquor stores are. Overall I'm sure it serves it purpose but for higher end bourbons which is my main reason for visiting it is a bit too high for my liking.

Back when I wrote my first review, in the good, old days of 2012, I lived on the same street as Old Town and it was easy to get to and had wine that I liked in my preferred price range (so...sweet, white and cheap...just like me! Hey-ooo! :-P) Now, I will regularly go out of my way to make a stop at Old Town. And these days it is primarily for their top notch beer selection! I am always prepared for the cold when I visit Old Town now, because I know I am going to be perusing the beer cave for quite some time. They rank among the top four places in Louisville I excitedly go to, in order to explore special, hard to find, interesting, sought after beer. Even if I am not looking for something specific, I am going to find something I already like if not something that piques my interest enough to try! The biggest plus of a visit to Old Town, aside from the friendly and helpful staff, is that you can buy just about all the beer options as SINGLES. This is huge. This changed my beer-drinking life. I have been able to try so many more beers because of this. When you aren't roped in to buying a four (or more) pack and the beer is 'fancy' and costs $5 or more per beer....doors suddenly open up! Old Town is in the middle of the Highlands, so parking can be tricky. They have a few dedicated parking spaces as well as a drive-thru (if you know exactly what you want) but beyond that it is going to be street parking. They still carry a great selection of wine and liquor, as well as some snack type things (thing cheese and crackers and chocolates). You should absolutely pay a visit to Old Town Wine and Spirits. Just leave some beer for me!

However I could tell the owner was a nice man and we chatted for a bit. He was jovial and I told him I wanted that bottle and if we could get the price right I would buy it. Reluctantly he finally met my price, which was only $20 over retail. He had some great bottles but I didn't want to overpay too much. I got my bottle at my price and he made a little extra. A very pleasant man who was kind and courteous. I would definitely shop here if I was a local.

I have also had numerous RUDE encounters with another certain cashier, so much that I have considered never returning...I get it, there are people that come thru here that are not exactly "easy" to deal with....however, you also have patrons that are regular customers that keep you in business. Long story short, I now look for TWO different cashiers, and when they are there, I will NOT go in....it is worth it to me to go to another place and pay the extra $25 for a bottle. Otherwise, I am MORE than happy to go in when the other 2 or 3 VERY helpful and just "pleasant" cashiers are working....we only get better as a place of business when we treat others the way we expect to be treated when we are the consumer....food for thought. PS - when the shopkeeper left, I did mention that it could have been handled differently...the reply was "My drawer is counted at 8:45, and I get paid until 9:00....to the owner now...if you advertise that you are open until 9 pm, stay open until 9pm....and pay your employee until 9:30.....I for one am CERTQIN that my purchase would have more than paid for that additional 30 minutes of payroll.....

Based on another round of mediocre food options, Goodwood is only a spot to enjoy a beer and catch up with friends. They also have live music. Looks like a private room is also available but I can't imagine hosting here and serving their menu of food. Family friendly bar - we had our teen and another family had elementary school kiddos. Friendly service last night, coming in and heading out. A bookshelf of games is available. Street parking is fairly easy to find.

There used to be a 10% discount when you bought liquor by the case but they ended that. Not to mention a major peave... When Black Velvet sales with a discount tag, say of $1.00 off a bottle, you can only buy one bottle and get that discount, according to the large young man with the red beard on Oct 2 2022. I will do business elsewhere since they are no longer supporting us Vets or family members. Thanks for the kick in the ass!
