Everything about this establishment is over the top. I myself am a bourbon man strictly Woodford neat. There were so many choices it blew me away. My friends enjoyed their flights and the ladies were downing the wine (bottles). Service was outstanding, no empty glasses at our table . We came here so I could taste some local bourbons and my guest could have either some wine or a mixed drink. I'm not a bourbon expert, especially given the variety that is out there, so I asked some questions of the clerk here, and he was extremely knowledgable and very helpful. He recommended a bourbon flight which was amazing, all local brand as well. I looked over their selection on the shelves and tried a couple of others that he recommended. Everything was excellent, and we even walked away with a bottle of local bourbon as well as a couple of bottles of really excellent champagne. On top of that, they place is small but very nice, and there are a couple of beautiful window seats you can hang out in as well. Being a person who prides myself on a being a guy who supports local businesses, artists and stores it pains me to rate one so poor. But this one is earned. One of the most aggressive and rude customer service experiences I've ever had. I went in with intentions of buying a bottle. I left with intentions of never coming back. To setup my experience I'll give everyone backdrop. Me my family and another group of friends with there family was taking in the wonderful and Vibrant Nulu neighborhood on this beautiful Saturday night. We began our night dining at feast bbq (I highly recommended them by the way) and took a stroll down through the Nulu businesses checking out the local art murals and had intentions of stopping by "cream" a local ice cream place. Unfortunately cream closed at 7pm. So we decided to head back to the car and drive to nearby ehrlers. On the way back me and the other husband noticed this establishment that sold local Bourbon and wine. We both are avid bourbon drinkers so we stop in while the kids and wives took pictures in front of the nearby art mural Nulu wildflowers. Upon walking in the first gentleman (pretty sure one of the owners) was nice. He thought he knew my face but I explained it was my first visit. I advised him we weren't there for the bar but to browse the Bourbon selection. I look up and notice a bathroom sign. I ask the gentleman if it would be ok if I used the facilities real quick. He said "absolutely". I walk back there and someone is In there already. So I wait for my turn. While waiting This other gentleman (who I assume is another owner) walks to me and says "are you buying something". I told him "not sure yet. still going to browse". Then he stood there for a few seconds and said "so your not buying anything". Instead of waiting by the door I get away from the guy and go back to my buddy who is looking at the bourbon because honestly if this guy keeps it up I'm gonna lose my temper and it's not worth getting mad about. We are browsing and looking. And the same guy approaches and says "can I ring anything up for you". At this point I just shoot him a look and my buddy said just browsing right now. The guy then either felt the vibe or just switched it up for a brief second and said "are you guys local?" Us "yes". He responded "so your familiar with Kentucky Bourbons" and pointed at a few well known local selections. We both once again say "yes". He turns to me directly and asks "what's your favorite one?" Me "personally I like angels envy". Him "ok I'll ring you up a bottle". Me "no I'm good. I have plenty at home". At this point he couldn't pay me to drink any Bourbon at his facility. I guess the guy assumed I was a drunkard who stumbled in on his establishment on a Saturday night and wanted to just go pee. He was wrong. He lost my business and my buddies business. And I'll tell everyone I know not to buy bourbon or wine here. Which if I'm being honest they was about $10-15 higher on most bottles then what I can get at other non tourist areas of Louisville. Guy treated me like a jerk and I'm actually proud of myself that I held my composure and killed him with kindness. But I hope this yelp review finds him so he can know his actions has consequences. You can check my other yelp reviews and see I spend a lot of time and money locally. So definetly wasn't looking for a free toilet. I Definitely was not some drunk guy in there being belligerent. I dunno, maybe he was sampling the Bourbon too much and maybe that's why he was being the way he was (I'm really trying hard not call names or curse) I will say the only bright side of This trip is my buddy got a sample or what was a half a shot (cost just over $3) of a Bourbon neither of us has had before called Russell's. It had a great taste. And was only like $48 for a bottle. Chances are one if not both of us would of left with a bottle of it tonight if it wasn't for the treatment I received. We will go buy a bottle of it from a local business that treats customers with respect and a little something called "service". Overall I won't come back. Looking at reviews and this place has amazing reviews and most say the owners are super. So not sure what the heck happened tonight? Maybe I just put of a bad vibe? I do kinda need to shave. Maybe he thought I was a street walker roaming in to shave in his bathroom. But honestly even if I was he had no right to act like that. It just a bathroom not a gold vault. Either step up and say "paying customers only or save your passive aggression for yourself. Anyways, I'm getting angry again about it and I'm at the end of this review and I haven't name called or cursed yet. So that's a win. So I'll just finish with "please buy and support local businesses". Not all of them are like this place. read more

So nice to find a good bourbon bar that is a hidden gem. I loved the atmosphere and vibe. The employees were friendly and accommodating. Stephen was a wonderful server. We enjoyed sitting in the window and watching all the people in Oaks Day walking around. Such a chill atmosphere. They have a back patio where you can smoke cigars; we didn't check that area out. What a wonderful time last night! My best friend had spoken to me about Taste and its fantastic owners but we'd never been. When my husband and I found ourselves in Nulu he told us he'd "be there in 30 minutes!" We grabbed a window seat which was perfect for people watching and catching up. I ordered Apersol Spritz which is mixed with wine and topped with an orange slice. I expected it to be sweet but it was dryer in flavor and refreshing. Wine pours are available in 2 or 6 Oz pours and the selection of bourbon is insane. Truly they have anything you'd want. My husband loved his gin and tonic (it was good!) and then had a bourbon and ginger. He was also just as excited about his Coca Cola in a glass bottle. Mark and Jerry were as wonderful as other reviewers have mentioned. Attentive, friendly, helpful and kind - even when my husband spilled my drink ... he doesn't get out much!! I am excited about their back patio and AirBNB rental. We grabbed their card and I see a birthday celebration there in my future. My wife and I stopped into this hidden gem while we had a wait for table during brunch. Let's just say that we never made it out to get our table. Started out with a spicy bloody Mary that my wife really enjoyed. We left with 2 bottles of the mix they used. I had an old fashioned and a couple of beers. The two gentlemen that were running the establishment gave chill dad vibes and a great no pressure or judgment atmosphere. They will let you taste a ton of wines before you purchase and answer any questions you could come up with. Talk about making you happy to spend money. We were just driving by and spotted this cute little place and decided to stop. Be prepared to drop a Benjamin when stopping in. We sampled different wines and bourbons along with a meat & cheese board. The staff (I'm assuming owners but I didn't confirm that), were phenomenal. Overall excellent experience! We sat outside on a nice day and were welcomed by Mark who was a really gracious host and made the experience overall better! My friend and I decided to try two of the bourbon flights, which all feature Kentucky bourbons. We tried Jerry's and Tom's - Tom's has all bourbons from local Louisville distillery's. Overall we preferred Jerry's flights as Tom's was a bit too hot. None the less , a great Kentucky bourbon tasting experience! We also got some wine tastings which were a decent size. Taste was nice when we stopped there on a quick trip through Louisville in 2023. But on a week-long trip in 2024 Taste became our neighborhood bar with its excellent selection of bourbons and comfortable low-key atmosphere. What a wonderful place to stop in for bourbon and/or wine when in NULU area. Not only can you purchase bottles to go but you can also grab a seat at one of the many tables or better yet grab one of the coveted few seats at the bar where the shop owners keep you entertained. They have an amazing selection of really nice bourbons and a diverse selection of wines. What's great about this shop , you can taste the bourbons! No you can't just open the bottles and start drinking( I wish) but they have a tasting bar. So that cool pricey bottle of bourbon you'd like to buy but aren't sure about , taste it!
