After the Halloween festivities in Nulu, my family stopped by Goodwood before heading to the next stop. I'd referenced my last review to confirm what not to order (the wings, the bbq sandwich). I was bummed to learn they didn't serve burgers at this location. My son and I decided to split the nachos with chicken and pesto chicken flatbread pizza. Underwhelming, plus our flatbread was burnt on the bottom. Their smoked chicken isn't fresh or grilled - it's likely out of a heat and go container you buy in the grocery's deli meat section. Based on another round of mediocre food options, Goodwood is only a spot to enjoy a beer and catch up with friends. They also have live music. Looks like a private room is also available but I can't imagine hosting here and serving their menu of food. Family friendly bar - we had our teen and another family had elementary school kiddos. Friendly service last night, coming in and heading out. A bookshelf of games is available. Street parking is fairly easy to find. read more

Solid beer menu with very friendly staff. The atmosphere was inviting and fun, with some games available around the space. They also have a back room that hosts a stage for live music and other performances. Peeped some local comedy and really enjoyed myself! This is a 3+ stars kind of place. Location is amazing. Food is good for bar food. Beers are nice. Not great. It was absolutely packed when we were there before a concert at Yum center. Food service was surprisingly prompt. The bar service could have been better - heard a bartender giving a customer a hard time when she had been waiting a while, and the beer selection was challenging. They had a digital menu, but it wasn't current, and they kept giving me attitude when I ordered a beer they were out of. This was our first stop on our history and food tour of NuLu and rightfully so. We were introduced to a 2-beer sampler flight of a lager and a nut brown ale, which were both delicious. The ale had me swooning though -- I even commented that it would be good with ice cream -- and I was NOT joking. We also had a pretzel with mustard and a beer cheese, which were delicious served with the beers, and I could have stayed here all day. We intend to return in the near future to do just that and introduce our friends to this wonderful experience. Service was terrific. The large booths are great to be able to huddle with your group and have conversation. We did not feel rushed or bothered. read more

On July 30, 2023, I met the famous Bruce K! We were both starving, so we popped into Goodwood Brewing due to convenience. I don't drink beer, and although Goodwood Brewing specializes in beer, of course, they had some pretty decent rose wine, which was tasty and well chilled, and cheap at $5 a glass. We ordered nachos and pretzels with cheese dip, but unfortunately the cheese used for the dip and the nachos was utterly disgusting, hence the two stars. But the drinks were good, and we spent about four hours talking -- we only left when we were told they were closing at 8pm. Surprisingly the place wasn't very busy the entire time we were there, so it was fairly quiet and a good place to talk and have drinks. I'd give the place three stars if the food was better! Our first stop - me and the lovely Jasmine A. from Vancouver - where we're hanging out and attempting to earn the "Soused" badge. Looking back now, it's tough to believe that we were here for five hours because the time just zipped past, eating drinking and lots of talking. Our bartender was friendly, attentive and helpful. We demolished their nachos with chicken and the pretzel sticks. Decent bar food and while eating, I enjoyed a couple of their fantastic house beers. Hello Everyone: We stopped at Goodwood Brewing for their Stout and also some beer cheese and pretzels. Analysis: The Bavarian pretzel was very nice, not too much salt, and easy to break into smaller pieces to dip into the Lager beer cheese so every bit had some cheese! The beer cheese was quite good. Just the right amount of tang to it, thick (did not run off the pretzels), and a nice overall complex flavor. Their brand of stout was one of the best we have had. Tasted of chocolate, toffee and coffee. I can even see this poured over some vanilla ice cream or infused into an espresso layer cake. :-) Very nice brew. We are in the process of trying to find some for sale locally where we live in Arizona. The reason for the four stars (and not five) was because the restrooms were dirty and it was fairly warm inside the building (and it was very hot and humid outside so we were looking forward to cooling off). Considering we stopped in about 11:30 am, we would not expect this to be an issue. Because the ambient room temperature made our beer warm up faster than we would have liked. But, a fun place to stop in, order their Stout, some large soft pretzels and some beer cheese and enjoy! read more

So Goodwood Brewing is not a brewery I frequent all the time. I have gone for the Louisville Ale trail and Books and Brews event. It's been maybe a year since I visited this location. There is street parking of course, you may or may not be able to park close. The inside is average on space, I do like the brick wall behind the bar. There is also a live music stage, I do love live music and I forget they have it here, need to come see a performance sometime. I sat at the bar and was waited on rather quickly. I got the Louisville Lager and my stamp for books and brews. And I even bought a few stickers. They have some cool merch here as well. There is a game room here but I never been inside it, need to explore it next visit. Louisville Lager is a favorite of mine, I have tried their other beers in the past but, the Louisville Lager takes the cake. It's one of their signature beers. Even though I don't come here a lot, I may make that a habit. And make note to come see a music performance. read more

Ordered from the menu, only to find out they were out of the protein I ordered. Ok, so I ordered something else. Fast forward 40 mins later, and neither my appetizer nor my entree is here. Thinking about going next door, ordering food and bringing it back here to eat with my husband. We are from out of town and I travel here often for business..... I will not be coming back here. This was a really cool brewery and the staff was amazing. We got there towards the end of the night and they hung out with us and chatted for a really long time. They also do their own burger which was actually pretty good and I highly recommend getting that rather thangetting some of their beers we tried all 12 of them. They're only a couple that I enjoyed but their staff was amazing and everyone was super friendly. read more

The Drunken Chicken sandwich could have been great. It wasn't because there was barely any chicken on the sandwich; hardly worth the $15.99 charge. It came with tater tots or fries. Great music (we were so lucky to be there in a Saturday afternoon when a live traditional music group was just playing in the corner) and atmosphere, varied beer, wine and cocktail selection. Great spot to watch a game. Pool and darts in the back. Had a great beer flight. Surly AF bartender on our visit but I wouldn't hold that against them. We just didn't stay longer than we're needed to and moseyed on down to the next spot. And the women's bathroom has a serious toilet bowl overgrowth issue. read more

Goodwood Brewing is great! I have been to this spot lots of times, mostly for events, both private and public. I've always had a great time here! This location started as a production brewery and taproom, and has since expanded to a full menu and gameroom. I liked it originally, but it's really great now that it's expanded. There's lot of seating, games, and a full menu offering Starters, Soups, Salads, Tacos, Sandwiches, and more! I'm not a huge beer drinker, but taprooms are always such fun places to hang out! And, Goodwood has some tasty options, so I've always enjoyed having a drink during my times at this spot. Plus, the food is really tasty! Even though I'm not much of a beer lady, breweries have become one of my new favorite things lately. I love the laid back atmosphere, the selection of drinks, and having a good hangout for me and my friends. Goodwood is definitely a great place for all of these things. It is a bit on the smaller side, especially for such a popular area, but I had a great time here. As mentioned before, I'm not that much into beer so I can't have a say in that. However, I did try the grapefuit margarita and it was fabulous! They had some other fun cocktails as well, including 'beertails.' On the weekends they have live music, adding even more fun to the mix. Wanna get turned up on Sunday funday? Yes, they have yoga with beermosas. Oof. Walking around NuLu and stopped in for a beer and snack. The place was pretty empty on a Sunday but the menu looked ok so we stayed. My beer was ok, nothing to write home about and my husband didn't even finish his beer. We wanted a snack and the "Bavarian" pretzel looked good from the photo on the menu. Yikes. It wasn't a true pretzel, but pretzel breadsticks that were microwaved to hell. Like they were soft and squidgy and so hot it burned me. The beer cheese was also microwaved (in styrofoam??) it was boiling hot and split. If you have to come here, skip the food and get a beer only. read more

After waiting for over a hour for food to have the staff to come to the table and ask if I had anything else coming out. my response was yes my order just to have him to say they had just ran out of everything except some tots. I told him to just refund me and i would be going. now another 15 minutes later he brought me 16 dollars and I told him you charge me 23 dollars. Went here for Veterans Day lunch with family and friends and beer and everything was great! I had the brisket sandwich and was the the best! we were just cruising around downtown after an event at the Louisville Visitor center and a walk on the river when we decided to get a bite to eat before heading home. We drove past Goodwood and had heard good things so stopped in. It was about 8:30 on a Wednesday evening and the bar tender told us we just made it in time to place our order as the kitchen was ready to close. So under those circumstances it could have gone either way. But it went the GOOD(wood) way based on my 5 star review. But we opted to split an order of nachos that came with beer cheese, tomatoes, pickled onions, jalapenos and a creme sauce. We ask for the jalapenos to be left off and add pulled pork to the nachos. We were both hungry and were not able to finish the order. It was so tasty, a great proportion of cheese to meat to veggies. The chips were crisp, the pork so very tender and the tomatoes and onions excellent. We wanted to eat outside since it was a beautiful night and due to COVID so we ask the bartender if he would let us know when the food was ready, he brought it to us piping hot and short order. It was such a pleasant dining experience, great food, nice bar tenders and perfect weather to eat outside on Clay and Main. Loved it. read more

Came here after a long day of shopping and walking in the NuLu neighborhood. The taproom is open and fairly spacious with a small area for band set up at one end. What a selection of brews! There is a beer for any palate from hop forward, bourbon barrel, dark/stout and more! In addition there is a bar with mixed drinks for the non-beer drinking members of your party! There were 3 in my party and we each ordered something different from the menu, and sadly, we were all disappointed in the quality of the food. Despite the issue with our food, I still recommend this as a great place to stop in for a drink when in the NuLu area. I have not been during live music events, but here that it is quite fun and that a variety of bands play at the venue. read more

We may take it for granted out here, but I personally love it and would recommend friends from out of town who love beer to try the beer out here aged in bourbon barrels. ==The Burger Week Special== They offered a smoked cherry bourbon barrel stout burger as their special for the week and man, did it sound amazing. I came at the very end of the Burger Week celebration, so maybe what I got wasn't a good representation of their burger. I'll be frank: I didn't like it. The patty was extremely dense and dry, which was the deal breaker. The other ingredients were decent, but I wasn't able to get over the patty. I stopped by here a couple of Saturday mornings ago with my wife. We were in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby Marathon Festival and Goodwood Brewing was the sponsor of it. So whenever we were looking for a brewery in Louisville to try and we saw that it was close by, we decided to check it out. We arrived not too long after lunch time and while the front room here was decently busy, I expected it to be more so with the marathon happening not too far away. In any case The front room consisted of a bar as well as as a number of tables. Then there was also a side room that was empty which is where my wife and I ended up sitting. Good Wood Brewing is the type of place where you go up and place your order at the bar and then carry your beer back to your seat. They also had a decent looking menu with lots of bar food type options. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Good Wood Brewing a flight consists of four beers and I ended up unintentionally choosing four pretty high gravity beers in the Brandy barrel honey ale, bourbon barrel stout, cherry gose and their IPA. The first beer that I tried ended up being the Brandy barrel honey ale. You could definitely taste the barrel right from the start through the finish and although I didn't pick up on much honey, it was still enjoyable. Up second was the Bourbon barrel stout which was a surprisingly light stout with nice dark malt flavors and a bit of barrel flavor. For my third beer I tried to go for the gose but chose the IPA instead. So I corrected and went to the gose after having a sip of the IPA. Man was my palate really screwed up there and at first I thought the cherry gose had a super odd flavor. However my wife assured me it didn't and after a few minutes and some water I was finally able to taste it's true flavors. It starts out with a big hit of cherry which persists through to the end whenever you start to get that gose dryness in your mouth. Last but certainly not least was the IPA which starts off smooth before quickly going to hops which last through the finish. Out of the bunch I would have to say that the bourbon barrel stout was my favorite with the brandy barrel being my second favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed trying their beers, especially the barrel ones, and would like to give their food a shot too. read more

What a cool place this is! Not only is it a local brewery, but they have food and great live music! If you're looking for something to do in Louisville while you're here, do not miss this place. It's located in "NuLu" ( or new Louisville) and the building alone is amazing! It has original red brick and even an old wooden barn door. There are places to sit inside as well as the patio outside. I am vegan and there are limited options, but they do have some. Try the street tacos-three of them come in and order & are soft shells and they are really good. They also have some of the best guacamoleI've ever had at a restaurant-it has to be homemade - no mix here. The pretzel with beer cheese and mustard is really good, too. I am the beer drinker among my friend group so I was surprised when they were up for going to brewery. We were in the downtown area and saw that Goodwood was close we we gave it a shot. It's smaller than other breweries but being in downtown, there's only so much space as building can have. I went with a lager and realized I don't like lager after having this one. It was only $4 so it wasn't a total loss. They do have other drinks like beermosas and margaritas which I will need to try next time. Overall not a bad place and it's a good addition to NuLu. read more
