Clifford and Shelia, Thanks for your help and expertise over the years. I have lived in Lakeside for over 40 years. And have been going there for new glasses and repair for at least 20 years. Yesterday I went there to see if they could fix a pair of glasses with an expensive flexible frame that needed repair. The screws needed to be replaced. They were worn down so bad I didn't think they could be removed. It took a while but Clifford got them out and replace them. When I told him that I didn't think anybody could fix them he said they were the only people in Richmond that repaired glasses. Also, he wouldn't let me pay him for the work. Tom Clarke read more

Very nice and accommodating people to work with. Has a small shop feel with a big selection of glasses.

I was able to make an appointment within a few days, although they do take walk-ins. They are opticians so don't expect an eye exam. That being said, Clifford was extremely knowledgeable about the different lenses and add ons available, how they work, and how based on my prescription, how they would function. He answered my many questions about progressive lenses and auto shading lenses. It's a small place but many frames to choose from. His mother is the other optician. She, Cliff and a customer were very helpful in finding the frame that looked best on me within my comfort zone. My glasses will be ready in about 14 business days (about 3 weeks). I'll update this review when I have the glasses in hand. read more

Brooks Optical fixed a pair of glasses I'd bought from another chain for me twice for free, including once during the early days of the pandemic in 2020 when they weren't open for regular service. I took my new prescription to them in April 2021 and received the most personable service I've ever received. Prices seemed fine, and I learned the frame I'd selected was on sale for 50% off after I'd selected it. He did warn that shipping was still delayed due to the pandemic and that I might have to wait 2 1/2 - 3 weeks; it wound up taking just over 4 weeks, but the optician then changed the nose pads based on what complexion I said I had and spent more time fitting them to my face than any optician ever has--even asked me to call the next day to let him know how the new glasses are serving me. I can't praise them highly enough. read more

I could write all day about how great Sheila is. She is so welcoming and down to earth, you feel like you could chat with her all day. Zero hard sell on anything, just a friendly expert who will take her time with you, and listen to you. I recently bought my first pair of progressive lenses from her and had a hard time adjusting to them at first. But I hung in there for a couple of weeks, heeding her advice to wear them as much as possible. After exactly two weeks, my brain and eyes adjusted as much as they could, but I felt like they didn't have as wide a field of clear vision as I needed. She said, "oh, you might need more facial wrap in the frames". She adjusted them ever so slightly with her heater so they curved around the front of my face a little more. Presto - it was instantly like a new, better pair of glasses. That was enough to make the correction sharper all around. I was already a fan of Sheila before, but this was the icing on the cake. I look forward to buying more glasses from her in the future! read more

Walked in as a first time customer to a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Had a broken pair of glasses hoping to be repaired. Unfortunately, they were unrepairable. Nice young man offered to size my prescription lenses to a new frame. He found a nice pair of Steve Madden frames that fit perfectly! Left out happy I was now able to see and didn't pay much for a new pair of frames! Hubby found a pair he likes and will definitely be back! My mom and I went in this place today with a pair of eyeglasses that needed repair, and the proprietor was just the nicest person! She did the repair right there on the spot and was ever so gracious and kind! She really made our day. Next time I need to buy new glasses that's where I'm going. Their selection is massive. My glasses decided to get difficult and the hinge and screw were unhappy. I thought they were toast. I decided to go back to an old pair of glasses that needed repairing too but was unsure if they were repairable or not. Found this marvelous store online and thanks to the other reviewers was encouraged to take a chance. The woman who helped me ( I think it was Sheila the owner) was not only able to easily fix what turned out to only be nose pad issues she was able to magically heal the ones that I thought were irreparable. And all for a diminutive fee. I was shocked at how little she charged. This was a very positive experience all the way around. Fashion for the face is what Sheila provides. She has an almost unending inventory of current fashions in eye wear as well as an extensive selection of accessories. I wanted a pair for every day of the week. Prices on frames are comparable to most outlets, the lenses were lower than those same outlets but the real value comes from the outstanding service that cannot be equaled by the big box optical stores. I love this place! The frame selection was excellent and Sheila Brooks is super friendly and nice. She is also knowledgeable and answered all my questions, including helping me pick out frames that suited my face. My insurance was accepted, Blue View Vision. And I just got my glasses today and I love them! Also, my other glasses were broken, and after mentioning it she fixed them for free so I could use them until my new ones came in.
