I interviewed five plumbing companies, including Wyatt & Son's Plumbing. When you choose a company to work for you, it should be no different than candidates interviewing for jobs. I treat each company that comes out with respect; we discuss the various aspects of the job and how the job will be performed. Ultimately, we end up in salary (project cost) discussions. COMMUNICATION Wyatt and Son's was incredibly impressive. I used the Yelp projects system, and communication was seamless. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Replace a Bradford 50g water heater (leaking from the top) 2. Replace a Kenmore water softener that was 15 years old. 3. Fix a 40' run of 2.5" kitchen sink pipe detached from the ceiling due to the strap cables, held in by nails, used by the original installers. It wasn't draining anymore and was full of gunk. TECHNICAL INTERACTIONS I'm an incredibly technical person and engineer. I research everything from plumbing, electrical, carpet, etc. I like to know how things are installed and how they work for the simple fact of educating myself to get the best use out of everything. Barry and his son answered every question, and I never felt disrespected. While Barry has an opinion on specific equipment, which people should have, he walked me through the "whys" of arriving at his conclusion. Barry's approach demonstrated his openness to educating others and learning himself. I appreciated our time. PRICE Wyatt & Son's Plumbing price is incredibly competitive. There are a couple of things I look at: 1. How much am I paying for parts? 2. How much am I paying for labor? Parts are a commodity. You can find every price for every item online. I'm not a fan of companies who mark up their prices. I have to pay sales tax on parts, and every dollar added is more money out of my pocket on taxes. FINAL DECISION The decision came down to Wyatt and Son's Plumbing and another company. Nothing is worse than telling a fantastic candidate/company they won't receive the job. I had no joy in sending the message to Barry, and still, as of writing this review, I'd have Barry out in a heartbeat to quote the next job; there will always be another. TO THE READER Wyatt & Son's Plumbing must be a part of your quoting process. Their professionalism is top-notch, their interactions and knowledge are excellent, and their pricing is incredibly competitive, way cheaper than the large companies. Barry did initial work for me at a house I was selling which went fine -- I needed another project that he was paid in advanced to complete work but it was never completed because the new owners went to another company and he has since refused to respond to any communication on getting my money back. 1200$ that he has pocketed from mine and my girls mouth. Just fyi on the "business owner" you might be considering. I am now having to file with the courts in getting my money back. read more

We have a 120 gal. water heater that we have rented from I&M and now AWHR since 1990. It started blowing air so we called AWHR and they tried to get several plumbers to come out and fix it but all their "first choice" plumbers were tied up so they finally called Wyatt & Sons, we have never heard of them but after they left our house I came to the conclusion that AWHR should have made Wyatt & Sons their first choice. Barry found the problem right away and explained that at least one of the elements was burnt out and he was not sure he could get another one. He drove several miles into Marion and went to several stores and found 2 new elements and was back to our house in about an hour and had everything repaired and working in a half hour. I am a Property Manager- I contacted this company on Wednesday morning and scheduled a request with Barry to go to a home and have the water turned on in Anderson (crawl space). He assured me that they could go to the house the next morning (Thursday) and that I would be billed and I could pay via credit card. I contacted him early on Thursday morning ensuring that they would be going out, he confirmed. I contacted him in the afternoon to check on the status, he stated that they hadn't made it yet because of emergency calls. No big deal. I then contacted him a 3rd time later in the afternoon to confirm the work was completed (4:58 PM), and he then asked if it could be done the next day (today). I had to take the initiative to communicate with him the entire time to get answers. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a reliable plumber and I would not recommend. I was visiting my elderly In-Laws and found six inches of water in the crawl space. Not being from the area I began reading up on some reviews of different companies that could address the problem. I was most struck by the response and attention to detail Barry gave each of his reviews. Due to my schedule only allowing me to be at the In-laws a couple days Barry came out at his first opening and was able to assess and fix the the failed sump but still needed to address the underlying issue of improper drain installation so he returned again another day to properly pipe and dig a trench to prevent any further issues. Barry is an easy going and easy to talk to professional. I felt his pricing would be competitive with other companies and lined up with my expectations having had plenty of experience with the cost of other plumbing projects I have had. I really enjoyed talking with him and hashing out next steps for the project. I wish I had him as my plumber in Michigan. read more

The pump for our well stopped working suddenly. No water in the house, period. Brady responded right away to asses the situation. His partner Barry soon joined and they put a plan together to fix our problems. Excellent work that was quick, efficient and friendly. Brady also cleaned up very well.
