Shopping at BroBro in Montgomery is a much calmer and relaxed experience than going to Kroger. I much prefer the smaller crowd and the smaller store. It's worth the few extra dollars (to a point). I fear the new HEB might make us lose the slower pace. read more

I go to Brookshire Brothers b/c it's smaller, less overwhelming than bigger groceries & the pharmacist Denise is really the best pharmacist ‍ I've ever had. She really is an asset to this store in 77356!!! read more

I really love this little store in Montgomery. Its not new, its not bright and shiny with a ton of variety, and I know, they are not the best prices in town. But sometimes its not about saving a few dollars, but for supporting a smaller business still trying to stay relevant. Every time I go there, the same man checks me out, and every manager I see always say hi and thank me for coming in. I eat at their deli, they have great lunch specials, and the fried chicken is really good. Every day its a different entrée, and fried chicken is always available. The deli has a fantastic pea salad, its so much nicer to just buy it there rather than make it myself since I am the only one who is going to eat it. The customer base seems to be dwindling since I have moved to this area, and that makes me sad. I am well aware we all need to save a few dollars every where we can, but as long as I am able to, I will continue to shop here and support this grocery store chain. read more

I went to the deli for the first time in many years because it's Monday and no restaurants are open downtown. I got the special which was pork fritter and two vegetables and a roll and drink for $6.49 which is a great price. The girl helping me was nice but wasn't much help. I asked what vegetables were available and she didn't offer to point out what was available so I had to ask one by one. I chose two vegetables that were identified and asked for brown gravy and she said we only have cream gravy so I asked what the brown soup was and she said black eyed peas which was I wanted so I ordered that on the side. I took the meal to go so I didn't get to taste them until I got home. I haven't had uncooked black eyed peas since I was in college cooking for myself so I forgot how tasteless they are. Other than that the meal was fine and a good deal for the money. If you get the black eyed peas, get a taste first! read more

You are able to reserve crawfish online. YAY! It is well packaged and we never have issues with dead crawfish. We have purchased their crawfish for the past 3 years from this location. I highly recommend. I like this tiny corner store, they have a wide variety of unique and typical products on their shelves. read more

Very nice small grocery. If you need a few items or more and you do not want to go to Walmart and stand in endless lines...This is the store for you. They have an actual meat / seafood counter,and the butcher doesn't mind doing a special cut or what ever you need. There is a pharmacy, florist, bakery, deli with breakfast / lunch / dinner items ready to eat and small seating area. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than Walmart. Everybody is more expensive than Walmart. BUT, the people at Brookshires actually care that you are there. They want you as a customer and they act like it. So for my money I'll pay a bit more to have less aggravation. read more

Absolute worst customer service! While trying to support a small town business, they are not worried about keeping customers. I call ahead for an order of chicken 30 mins ahead and they say No problem. i get tjere and they say a 300 piece came in 10 mins ago, I have to wait. Nope, off to Krogers I go. If I could give zero stars I would. I am 45 and was shopping with my teenage daughter. The cashier refused to sell anything to me because I had a 12 pack of beer in with my groceries and my daughter did not have I.D. The cashier was very rude about it while the cashier next to him laughed. When I spoke to a manager I was informed that if you have your kids with you that you can not purchase alcohol. I asked about the rest of my groceries and was told that they had to refuse the entire sale due to the fact they couldn't sell me the alcohol. I am so glad that Kroger has opened right up the road. This is repeated bad experiences with this Brookshire Brothers location. I will no longer shop any Brookshire Brothers store. Pretty sure corporate offices in Lufkin would not approve of the way this store operates or managements behavior. read more

If I could I would rate 0 stars for the homophobic manager I would have. I flew in town this morning to visit my family, we were on our way to take the boat out on the lake and enjoy a beautiful summer day with my family who I hardly see anymore because I live in Seattle Washington, when my dad asked me to grab a few snacks and beer for the day. After grabbing everything I needed, I went to the cash register to check out. The cashier called her manager over because I have an out of state ID, no problem it happens every time I have come in since I moved away. To my dismay The manager refused to accept my Washington state ID for the alcohol, so I told him I would grab my passport and be back, but that I'd pay for the rest now and take it to my parents car. The manager told me I could not purchase anything at his store and he was canceling my order. Cancelling everything even the non-alcohol items. In addition to my utter shock in this classless man's refusal to allow me to purchase anything, nmy sister, who was in line behind me grabbing a few items also, said she would buy all of my groceries and hers. The manager still refused to sell us groceries, and told us we were not going to be able to buy anything. I am still in awe that such a situation happened to me in my home town and it is very unsettling and disheartening to be refused service because my money is seemingly not good enough for the manager. I have been buying groceries at the same store since was a young child, even during hurricane Ike when the whole town was without power! My sexual orientation should not have been a determining factor in my ability to aid your stores profits and give my hard earned money to receive consumer goods. Having to tell my parents that I was not allowed to buy groceries at this establishment was icing on the cake for my first day in town and my first day of vacation. Now I will tell all of my friends and family to avoid shopping at Brookshire Brothers because of the lack of compassion I received from the manager at this store. read more

I've shopped at this location for years and just had a very bad experience for the second time in the meat market. When talking to the manager I realized he just didn't care. Well you know they have just opened a beautiful HEB not too far from here and I bet I will recieve much better customer service there. I had my daughter with me and she wad shocked how I was treatef in the meat department...rude is an understatement. Never again! read more

I think the produce section looks amazing, and the meat dept too. But I can't shop here because my daughter is disabled and won't stay with a buggy, and is too big for the inside of the buggy. We were in here on 3/13/16 and it will be the last. I have had about a half a dozen bad experiences with the meat counter. The people working there have to be in a union because no one can perform at that level and still have a job. On the last visit, I asked how much the crab was in the case, he said "I don't know". I said "can you find out?" he asked a older gentlemen working with him " do you know how much the crab is?" he said " I sure don't." period. I said give it to me and I will take it up front to find out., I told the manger , what had happened and he just laughed,. One of my previous visits I had a lady in the meat dept. going through a rather extensive relationship break-up on the phone and she was just not helping people waiting at all. On another visit it took the guy in the meat dept. 20 minutes to cut and package some deli meat, it was so long I did not ask for anything else. There is a Kroger coming down the street and this type of service will take care of its self. When this meat department is out of work I beg you (meat dept. employees) to not apply at Kroger's. read more

Amazing service, hometown feel from once you pull up to the drive thru. I was very impressed how fast they fill the prescriptions. My daughter was sick and I had taken her to the doctor and the doctor sent it over thru their medical computer program and BB had it filled before I even got to my home in Walden. I transferred all my medications from Walgreens. read more
