The second time was a weather related problem with the thank you card discounts. There is a gentleman named Henry that I have watched for a couple of years and he should be the manager of this store. His energy level and his intellect make him stand out. I've seen him be thoughtful and helpful for seniors and I can't imagine him letting a checkout line being stopped dead over a coupon or 5% discount. It's about 15 miles from Cedar Creek Lake & actually closer to Purtis Creek Lake State Park. So, if a Yelper is looking for it under The "Phalba Store" name, here's my updated review for it. Hubby & I headed out to see a good friend's new house & we were looking forward to grabbing a delicious Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries at The Phalba Store. Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I'm a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It's decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools , old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There's also an old 70's Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil...etc. It's all fresh and the store only carries @ 5-10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables......cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It's a great little Stop if you're ever out that way. They have boxes…read moreof milk just sitting out and they expect this one cashier to get it put up in time but instead it gets left set out and then sold us and it's no good by the time we get home it's bad because it set out because Dollar General won't hire more employees because they're too cheap. They won't even give these employees 40 hours because they don't wanna pay for health insurance. It's really not the employees fault that Dollar General is so cheap. Let's not talk about how half the time the coupons don't even work you went through all that to click coupons then you get in there and you check out and it doesn't work. In fact it just freezes the machine and the next thing you know everybody's pissed off because the coupons won't load Dollar General is the biggest fraud corporate!
