I've been going to Canton Trade days for most of my life, I don't know how I'm just finding this place. I seen it on the day tripper and decided I needed the Texas Sunrise burger in my life. OMG, it is a life changing experience. It was sooo good. I got the burger and onion rings which were fresh made. The burger was so big I could barely finish it and was really overstuffed when I was done. It had like 4 whole slices of thick bacon on it. Other burger places should take notes. I don't get it why they're "World Famous". I love the vibes and staff was kind but the burgers were not that great. It's a must stop, and it never disappoints. While most of the family stick with their favorite burger and fries, I've ventured out trying the patty melt and pancakes and bacon. The place is nice and clean. The staff was great. I ordered the bison burger with fries and a drink. I don't know what the hype is about, but it's not that good. The bison burger it's lean and I'm sure it's healthier, but it's not that flavorful the fries. They're not fresh cut. I expected a whole lot more out of the food for the price. The atmosphere here is great--laid back and welcoming. The burger I had was really good, especially after adding a bit of salt and pepper. The ranch dressing was solid, and the salad was fresh (though it had a wild amount of tomatoes--like, a lot). The fried green beans were great! Fries were on the greasy side, and the chicken fried steak was... not it. The breading was weird and it was burnt, like it had been fried twice. I couldn't eat it, but to their credit, they quickly made me a burger to make up for it. Prices are on the higher end for what you get, and the portions aren't huge ($4.39 for half basket of curly fries), but the service was good and the staff handled the issue with the steak quickly. Overall, it's a cool spot with some hits and some misses. Three people $60.06. We will return for a burger and may try something else. We went twice in 2 days. It's right on the highway. Long line out the door but it goes fast. Burgers were delicious--specifically the jalepeno and the 1/3 burger. Get the curly fries. The ambiance is fun, inside has a carnival feel. There seemed to be enough seating although the line to order was backed up to the door. They have a tv screen announcing the wait time fir food orders. The menu is very exyltensive and has a whole other counter for ordering Blue Bell ice creams. I ordered a patty melt and a chili dog. The patty melt only has meat, cheese on rye bread. The meat was not only lacking flavor, it was not juicy or fresh tasting. Very disappointed. The chili dog was better. I liked the chili. It cones with cheese, mustard and onions. I honestly could taste any onions or mustard. My hub hated his burger, only had a couple bites. Said it was so dry and tasted funny. Bro in law got the burrito and liked it. It just comes with meat and beans in it, covered with chili and cheese. We have tried this place for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was way better. Dinner was horrible. People taking the order were very friendly but the person that brought the food was extremely rude and pretty much threw the food on the table. Place was not busy but she definitely didn't want to be there. Husband had hamburger steak and it was dry. Baked potato was cold. I had a hamburger and the meat was so dry and the meat tasted off and was so overcooked. Tater tots were pretty good and crispy which I personally like. This place several years ago was very good but the consistency is what lacks in the food. It will be good for awhile and then it's horrible again. Who hasn't been to the Dairy Palace? This place is LEGENDARY! I've seen more than a few of their stickers on famous musicians instrument cases over the years. In East Texas and beyond the grounds of First Monday, you can mention it and almost everyone will know it. The joy of Dairy Palace isn't the incredibly small bathrooms, the conservative messaging throughout, or even the twisty and turny drive through. The joy of Dairy Palace is that it's a hometown stop that serves countless folks year after year. The menu is like Dairy Queen on steroids. Want tacos? Can do! A burger? You know it! Fried fish? Coming right up. Flounder filet with rice and veggies (as pictured) you can get that, too. Heck, even THAT is coated and covered in butter. I love the shakes and malts counter. You can get so many different flavors of Blue Bell, and the malt is just that - a malt! I grew up out here, and I love stopping in when I go home. My arteries - they probably don't love it so much, but at least I can pretend when I eat my grilled to the point of basically being fried flounder. read more

My parents have been stopping off at the Dairy Palace for 30 years and it didn't disappoint. Full of locals and passersby ready for a good burger. We opted for beef beef burgers but those on the more adventurous side could go for game. I love that they have a 1/5 lb burger. Just right for me! If you have an appetite, go for the 1/2 pounder! After a long day at the First Monday Trade Days, we couldn't pass up trying the local favorite: Dairy Palace. Boasting dozens of flavors of blue bell ice cream, this is a great spot if you've been traveling outside of Texas for too long and need your blue bell fix. Upon arrival, there were 2 lines moving swiftly worth walk up orders, plus a line of cars wrapped around the drive thru. Given the extensive menu, it was hard to choose - thankfully our server couldn't have been more helpful. She guided us deftly though choices on burgers, fries and milkshakes, adding helpful hints like "cream gravy goes so well with the French fries." We were in good hands. Sadly, they're facing the same staffing shortages we see around the country - bussing tables hadn't quite caught up to the busy dining room, but we're not afraid to roll up our sleeves and get to cleaning. Once we cleared a booth, our food arrived rather swiftly ~20 minutes. It was piping hot and we dove right in - cheeseburger and fries for me, 'cause I'm a purist. Both were delicious, hot off the grill, and paired well with my chocolate milkshake. The food and drinks are solid, and what you'd expect from a burger joint, with excellent service at the front of house - they just have a bit of trouble keeping up, which during Trade Days weekends is understandable. The hamburger was the perfect size for me and well made. My aunt ordered a hot dog and thoroughly enjoyed it. Her only comment was that they did not have sauerkraut. One of my favorite places to stop when roadtripping in Texas, ever since I was a kid! This place is always busy, which is a good sign (because it's just so good). Although it's busy, the service is quick & efficient! The atmosphere is based on their 4-H involvement around the town & surrounding areas, along with military appreciation, definitely a southern feel, so it's inviting. The business is family owned & operated since the 80's & I love to see new updates each time I go. The food has always been great in my opinion. I stopped in to get something for hungry diabetic. I ordered small hamburger... they fixed this burger correctly but my "beef" was the quality of the beef.... never again will I eat a burger there I am thinking .. .. it had either been cooked the night before and they had the nerve to serve it to me that way or they had some sort of cow that, probably couldn't even walk they were serving up!!! It tasted like saw dust or something REALLY NASTY.... SHAME ON YOU AS YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE KNOWN FOR QUALITY BURGER!!! I HAD TO GET ON FREEWAY YO GO SOMEWHERE... Our stomachs were loudly protesting our decision to not eat before we got on the road! To say they were growling was a major understatement! So we pulled off the highway to grab a bite at a big national fast food chain. As we drove up to the chain location, the line was around the building! That was a bad idea! Then, I saw this place. It had a lot of cars around it, but the drive through line was short. The menu board was easy to read and we ordered a couple of items. Super friendly help while ordering and again at the window. The food was ready pretty quickly and it smelled wonderful! I ordered the breakfast sandwich and first bite was Heavenly! My grumbling tummy was SILENCED! My taste buds were giggling with delight!
