We notice that their was two Van Gogh, one is Alive and one is Immersive. I'm glad I asked my girls if they wanted to go before it ends. We bought our tickets online, since you can only get it only online not the box office for the evening show. Regular is $45.00, Senior is $40.50, Military is $40.50 and Youth/Student is $29.99. Fees not included but I would say add $5 for taxes and fees. The experience is inside of Starlight Theater. It's not as big as I thought it would be. But the first room, it's layout like a museum, you can read who Van Gogh was and his art history. I like the Van Gogh room which consists chairs and bed, it look just like his painting. You can also sit on the bed or chair to get your photo opp. Next room is where you can experience Van Gogh Alive. It displays his quotes and his arts and the music makes it worthwhile. I tis a 42 minute video. I would suggest sitting on the floor where the projection is, you can be with the art. Lots of people were standing or sitting, but we sat on the floor on the projection and it was fun. Last, is the Sunflower Selfie Room. It was definitely smaller but the mirror effect made it look like infinity. Definitely worth the visit especially with a good company.

The management has done a terrific job showcasing this immersive lantern festival, making it one of the most awaited and popular activity in Kansas City. I visited the exhibition in the last week of December and was truly mesmerized by the glowing art. The mile or two long path took us through different timelines, showcasing Paris, the Wild West, American history, and then moving on to different types of animals, flowers, and fantasy highlights. There were a few cultural festivals captured as well, like Mardi Gras, followed by Ice Age animals and then sci-fi futuristic lanterns. My favorite sections were the Paris area, which featured a beautiful large Eiffel Tower lantern, Statue of Liberty lantern and also the Elvis Presley lantern - amazing. The cultural section truly had my heart. Something that really caught my eye was the Journey Entry lanterns placed at each area.. definitely fun and interesting to read. Few Tips: 1. The whole path took me around two hours to complete because I took my time to view each and every lantern. However, it could take as less as 60 Minutes. 2. It was very cold when I went, however, it wasn't windy, but I would still recommend 3 to 4 layers if warm clothing, if you're going after 8 PM in winter time (for any unexpected weather changes. 3. All the kids I saw were in their strollers and I definitely thought it was needed since it was very dark path apart from the lanterns. 4. Toilets along the path were a bit of a miss since there wasn't enough lighting around them!!! I used the main toilet near the zoo admissions area so please keep that in mind! It's great to know that this exhibition runs until April 2026. It's very family friendly, an amazing great date night option, or as a solo activity. Outside food and drinks are allowed - definitely a plus. One downside is that you won't get to see any animals, and when I visited, even the aquarium was closed. I would recommend checking the aquarium hours too before going. I also believe there is free hot chocolate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so don't miss that either ;)! Loved watching each and every lantern and had a fabulous time.

The past two years we've gone around Thanksgiving and the Santa that works here is always 10/10, and it is a unique way to get your family into the holiday spirit. 2. I wish the member discount was a big more or you got more perks while at the event. It's still I think around $20 each to go even if you are member. I don't mind donating to the Zoo as I think it's a great local business and non profit, doing fantastic work, it just feels odd when you are already donating as a member to have such a hefty ticket price. 3. They improved it in 2025 and now offer hot cocoa for sale near Santa and you can even pay to spike it if you're an adult. I do think this could be a bit more magical, if they set up a more custom booth. For example, seeing how cheap the cocoa is kind of takes away from the vibes for me. I also think they could offer a souvenir mug each year like Christmas markets do to make it even more special. I think there is room for improvement here, but I'm glad they added this, as it was a fun and much needed element to tie it all together. 4. It's a fun walk, and the lights are always magical tl;dr: It's a fun event, worth the price overall. Kids and adults will enjoy it.

Most importantly, the beer selection was really good! I mean, I've been to festivals with a few more selections, but i didn't even come close to trying all of them that were available here. Further options would just be wasted. Plus a lot of familiar breweries pulled out stashes of really unique products. I was glad to get a sample of some rarities from Boulevard, Schlafly and New Belgium. I know for a fact there were a lot of other little surprises in the mix, I just never got around to trying them. The layout is fantastic. There were quite a few people here, but the lines moved quickly and efficiently. No waiting 10 minutes to sample a beer. Barely any waiting at all. I thought that was pretty awesome. There were plenty of tables and shade for people wanting to chill for a bit, and the restroom line moved quickly as well. I'd maybe add a FEW more toilets next year, but it wasn't that big of a problem. My only other suggestion would be to do something different with the speaker series. It's great that they offered it, but I think they should make it more prominent. It was difficult to hear the speakers, at least the couple that I kinda/sorta paid attention to. OK, one more suggestion: I think it'd be fun to have a vendor area. I mean, beyond a sausage and lemonade truck. Overall, I was VERY happy to attend Hopfest, and It'll certainly be on my calendar next year.

When I think of the establishments in Waldo I think of beer - from brewery, to sports bar, to gastropub, to dive. So, how very appropriate to have such an amazing beer tasting day in Waldo. The craft beer selection was quite extensive to say the least. Though it was packed with lots of folks, the pace was surprisingly easy and fast and barely any waiting at all. All of the vendors were extremely friendly as well as very patient & informative - they all seemed to enjoy discussing beer and didn't mind having their brains picked. I love the art of beer and I happen to be a very inquisitive individual as well - so it was refreshing to feel at ease while I delved into the world of endless beer knowledge. As Matt E. suggested, I also think that it would be wonderful if Hopfest would make their speaker series more prominent in the future and I second his suggestion on enhancing the vendor area to more than just two - quite a few Waldo exclusive vendors would be a really nice touch or at least plenty of food trucks would be divine. As an amazing conclusion to my day, my girlfriend and I gladly went next door to The Well to enjoy the Spinach Artichoke Dip (along with a pint to wash it down, of course) - it was offered complimentary when you used Yelp's mobile app to check-in to Hopfest!

The last review was 11 years ago! it's time for an update:)…read more I signed up for the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (LRBC), because my aunt loves it, the thought being it's an awesome experience, sharing something a love one is passionate about together. Let me tell you, I fell in love myself, and was totally hooked on The LRBC, within a few hours of stepping on the ship. The accommodations, food, staff are all wonderful. The cruise is always on Holland America's new ships. My cabin was fairly spacious with a lovely veranda. However, what really made the cruise were the people and the music! Music was going 24/7, and the talent was hot! I was able to dance my heart away day and night. Some nights I never went to bed. It was such an incredible experience, all that was needed was a few hours sleep here, a couple hours of sleep there. I made so many connections and friendships with fellow cruisers. There's quite a few cruisers and artists I've kept in close touch with, since coming off the ship in January. The vibe on the ship is warm, welcoming, and full of heart. I've already booked for January, 2026! One thing to note about booking is: it's almost impossible to get on the boat as a newcomer. The cabins are mostly booked out for the following year cruise, by the time you get off the boat. There are a few cabins that are left, after prior cruisers are done booking. If you want to get on the boat, make sure to sign up for email notifications on the LRCB web page. There will be an email sometime in late March/early April announcing cabins and waitlists to the public. If you get on your computer and refresh the bookings page right as it opens, or call right when the list opens, you may have a chance of getting a cabin, but if not, at least you'll be fairly high on the waitlist. 2025, #17

This Cruise is NOT for you ! You will absolutely HATE being in the Caribbean in January, exploring…read moretropical Islands and basking in the warm sunshine. Also, you will utterly detest the almost 24-hour a day live Blues music that is on this ship - it is just too noisy with the likes of Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Dion DiMucci, Keb Mo, Magic Slim, Tommy Castro, etc., etc. And, you will definitely despise hanging out and parting for a week with these same performers into the wee small hours of the night. So for the love of Zeus, please please stay away from this Cruise - I'm begging you !

This encyclopedic museum was built in the 1930s in a traditional beaux arts style. The original 1930s building is just as stunning today as it was 90 years ago. The original courtyard has been modified and transformed into a restaurant, but aside from that it remains largely untouched. In the 2000s the museum expanded with the Bloch building - an architectural marvel all it's own. Drive by at night to see each lens lit up. Currently they are working on another expansion, that will bring the museum into the modern era. I've spent so much time here it's ridiculous. From exploring as a child with my grandmother, to my time as a student, to exploring now as an adult there is really something here for just about anyone. Being an encyclopedic museum it features art from across the world and spanning the timeline of humanity. You can use the Nelson as a launching pad for discussing nearly any moment in time through the lens of art, which is really an impressive feat for a midsize city like KC. Some of my favorite pieces include a relic with the "finger bone" of st. John the Baptist (it's likely a chicken bone), "Woman IV" by Willem de Kooning, "Boulevard des Capucines" by Claude Monet, and "Persephone" by Thomas Hart Benton. This is the place I take all of my guests, and the place I come to when I need to reset or recharge myself. It's always beautiful, always therapeutic, and always FREE. They didn't even seem "micro." The behavior from staff was excessive, unwelcoming, and deeply uncomfortable. It's unfortunate that such a culturally significant and visually appealing place is staffed by people who ruin the experience. I genuinely hope the museum addresses and provides better training on how staff members interact with guests.
